Egyptology
"The story that is about to unfold was sent to me by a remarkable man by the name of John J. Peruka. Over the past several years he has spent much of his life studying the great cities of Egypt, the Pyramids and the mysteries surrounding the origins of life. How is it that a small Borough in Pennsylvania would also possess the same hidden mysteries as its Egyptian counterpart? How do pyramids, triangles and the numerical equivalents fit into our very being? What you are about to read may be controversial but may also hold the secret to life itself. I encourage you to read on and enjoy this most fascinating journey."

Egyptology
Introduction
The emphasis at Cambridge is on integration: of kinds of evidence (texts, art, and archaeology), and of traditional study and modern approaches to evidence. Combinations of courses also offer differences of emphasis, and provide scope for studying ancient Egypt along with adjacent areas (particularly via the Early Civilizations option). Learning is through attendance at lectures, supplemented by the College-based supervision system, and study using the substantial library holdings. The collections of Egyptian antiquities in the Fitzwilliam Museum and in the University Museum of Archaeology provide an excellent opportunity to examine ancient material directly.

69. Other Egyptian Collections In Uruguayan Museums
Describes the contents of other Uruguayan Museums with ancient Egyptian objects, besides the one maintained by the Uruguayan Society of egyptology.
http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Jardin/6043/
OTHER EGYPTIAN COLLECTIONS IN URUGUAY Besides the Egyptian Museum of the Uruguayan Society of Egyptology, there are other museums in Montevideo that have objects belonging to such an ancient civilization, many of them of great beauty or value as archaeological artifacts, although unfortunately none of them comes from scientific excavations. They are all donations from individuals who bought them in Egypt a long time ago or from exchanges between institutions. We thought it would be useful for people to know more beyond our regional boundaries about the existence of these museums and what they have in storage and on permanent exhibition. MUSEO DE HISTORIA DEL ARTE DE LA INTENDENCIA MUNICIPAL DE MONTEVIDEO This museum has recently been refurbished and offers the public an excellent collection of ancient Near Eastern and Classical art, most of them very good reproductions and many authentic objects. Under the able direction of its Coordinator, Gustavo Ferrari, and with the work of a team of skilled administrators and experts in conservation, it is currently carrying out an expansion into other neighbouring premises, where a museum of Precolumbian and Colonial Latin American art is also located. With its ample floor area, it allows visitors the comfortable enjoyment and an adequate exhibition of its rich collections. The Egyptian Room contains objects belonging to most periods of ancient Egyptian history, from the Predynastic to Graeco-Roman times.

THE DIRECTORY OF NORTH AMERICAN EGYPTOLOGISTS
Edited by Richard H. Wilkinson and Charles E. Jones
To submit new or corrected addresses for inclusion in the Directory use one of the following forms: If you do not have a forms capable browser, send your additions and corrections to one of the addresses at the bottom of this page. The Directory of North American Egyptologists is an on-line publication of the Research Archives of the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago and a joint project of The University of Arizona Egyptian Expedition and the Oriental Institute. The directory primarily lists trained individuals (including current doctoral students who have obtained candidacy for the Ph.D. degree in Egyptology) whose regular work involves the history, archaeology, language or culture of ancient (pre-Islamic) Egypt. The directory also lists a number of other scholars who, while not primarily trained in Egyptology, are engaged in research, administration, preservation, or other related work in this field. An appendix compiled by Charles E. Jones lists Egyptological dissertations currently in progress and those completed or made available in the past year. The directory is produced and maintained to facilitate communication between individuals working in the field of Egyptology. Hypertext links to the electronic addresses which are listed are included, so that an E-mail message can be sent by simply clicking on an address when viewing the list with a standard web-browsing program. The list is not intended to be used for commercial purposes, and telephone and E-mail listings should not be used for unsolicited marketing.

HERBERT E.
WINLOCK
KMT 9:1 SPRING 1998 © KMT Communications Caricature: Dennis Forbes After George A. Reisner and James H. Breasted, certainly Herbert Eustis Winlock was one of the greatest American Egyptologists active during the first part of the Twentieth Century. Nearly a generation younger than the other two American pioneers in the field, he did not outlive them by many years (Breasted fifteen, Reisner eight), dying relatively early, a few days short of his sixty-sixth birthday. Winlock's name is forever linked with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, being employed as he was by that institution for his entire professional career. It was through his work over a quarter century with the Museum's Egyptian Expedition - first as a team member and then as field director -that a great many of the Met's excavated art objects and artifacts came into its extensive Egyptian collection. That so much monumental sculpture of Hatshepsut is known today is due in large part to Winlock's excavation successes at the female pharaoh's Deir el Bahari morturary temple.
