Boca Raton, FL, 1991, 648 pp.
ISBN 0632020180 The development of analysis techniques from basic principles for a broad range of practical problems, including simple structures, pressure vessels, beams and shafts is presented. Increased use of PC has revolutionized the way in which engineering problems are being solved. Therefore the emphasis of this book is on the integration of numerical and computer techniques and programs for carrying out analyses, facilitating design, and solving the problems found at the end of each chapter. All included codes are written in FORTRAN 77 and are suitable for PCs, minicomputers or mainframes. They are available on disk. The book is intended for use in a first course in mechanics of solids for undergraduates. home author index title index subject index

INTRODUCTION This course correlates with Mechanics of Solids-I. It will give you a chance to apply textbook principles to technical equipment. You will perform experiments which yield the type of data which form t he basis of established mechanical properties. By doing this you will both confirm the theory and realize some of the limits of its application. Reports writing remain an important part of maturing your understanding of what you observe, and you will spend time out of the laboratory preparing reports. GRADING POLICY Lab Reports Final Exam Late Reports 20% off per day EXPECTED COURSE OUTCOME An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering. An ability to design and conduct experiments, ass well as to analyze and interpret data.

Course Description
