It's not a "tangible" product (same reason used to deny my co-workers and me NAFTA and Trade Act benefits), but when someone outsources to another country with cheap labor for any other industry, there are usually import tariffs. Why is software different, and how would this change the climate of US IT jobs leaving for other parts of the world if we did tax software imports? Extractions: Main I'm getting back on the road this morning to undertake the final leg of my trip to LA-LA-Land. It still hasn't really sunk in that I'm about to enter into a very challenging nine-week program. I'm apprehensive and excited at the same time. It's also somewhat amazing... The recent trauma and tragedy that we are all struggling with right now can equally be transformed into life-affirming, positive results. One of the books I brought with me is "The Illustrated World's Religions, a Guide to Our Wisdom Traditions," by Houston Smith. I've had the book for a few years but it was only recently, with the world's attention focused on Islam and Muslims that I started reading it. It's admittedly brief and focuses primarily on the affirming aspects of religous belief rather than acting as a comprehensive and conclusive examination of religion and religious institutions. I just finished the chapter on Islam and I must say it was fascinating and informative. I intend to learn more about it and it's adherents especially in light of the fact that one out of 5 or 6 people in the world practice some form of it. Yikes, I am running out of room time I hear the cleaning staff approaching my door and I must sign off lest they charge me extra for checking out late. It's back to the car and back to the buzz of driving. See ya on the other side (of the border, that is) California, here I come!
Young Man's Heart: So Who Are You? A Day In The Journey To Manhood. so, who are you? If your response was to tell me what you do for a living, careeror go to school Well, like most young men I am still figuring that out too. http://youngmansheart.campusbranch.org/articles/journey_authentic_manhood/so_who
Extractions: The Journey of Manhod, Day 2 So, who are you? Previously, in " Your heart, it's worth fighting for " I asked that question and now what would you tell me in response to that question? If you can't tell me who you are really without stopping to think about it, then you still need to keep digging to find that out. By the way, I didn't ask what you do, I asked who are you. If your response was to tell me what you do for a living, career or go to school, that isn't who you are, it is what you do. As you can see this is a deeper question than it seems to be right at first. "If your response was to tell me what you do for a living, career or go to school, that isn't who you are, it is what you do." I desire to make more close friends and to go deeper with the close friends I have. We all desire to be loved and accepted, I know in everyone's heart we have the desire to be loved by others and accepted. It is a part of our hearts and who we are, that we can't trick or lie to, it's a desire that is there and if we ignore it or don't find that love and acceptance, we won't ever find the true and abundant life that our hearts long for. I am confident in who I am, but I will be honest that self confidence for me wasn't something I was born with. In fact I don't think any one is born with bold confidence. Putting up walls around our heart or masks to hide our insecurities isn't true self confidence either. While we may be able to fool people, we would block the desire of our heart to be loved by others. People can't fully love us, if they don't know us. Loved ones can love you because they know you and you have shared memories together, but in being able to have loved ones who know you well and know the mistakes you have made, but still love you unconditionally, that is a incredible love that we need in the journey of authentic manhood.
Young Man's Heart: So Who Are You? A Day In The Journey To Manhood. As young men fighting for our hearts, we have to also protect what we are fightingfor. so how do you go about meeting and developing deep friendships? http://youngmansheart.campusbranch.org/articles/journey_authentic_manhood/rocks_
Extractions: The Journey of Manhod, Day 3 Well here we are in the next part of the journey into manhood. Right now I want to tell you that this is a journey I am committing to finish with you guys still on the journey with me. I am learning along the way and hope that you are as well. Before we get started I have something I want to ask you, "Will you commit right now to finish this journey with me?" Your journey may not follow mine exactly, as each of us are different, but will you commit to sticking with me through this journey to the end? I am thinking this is going to be a 30 or 40 day journey, but it will be no longer than 40 days, I promise. I challenge you to consider this right now and make your commitment by the end of today to make it to the end. While our fathers often do impact us, not every young man has an loving father who has been there for him, been a true dad and loved him. A great father can be a huge influence and impact in a young man's life. However, I know not all young men today have fathers like that. Many young men may come from broken homes and endured through painful and hard times at home or may be going through that at home right now. If that is the case, I really encourage you to commit to sticking with me in this journey into manhood. "We can't determine who our fathers are, but we can determine who we seek and allow to be men of influence in our life."

Extractions: Each week, you get the chance to review something new. This week - what do you think of Will Young's debut album From Now On It's one of the most long-awaited albums of the year and includes songs written by the Pop Idol winner himself! But has it been worth waiting for? Is it as good as you imagined? Do you care? Are you an avid fan or have you had enough of Pop Idol? Write something that's as interesting as you can, and make it between five and 15 sentences. Beth 15, Orpington I think the album was brilliant! Will's voice is just amazing and I think he is so unique and talented! A few of the songs sound very alike but it is still a wicked album. My favourite songs on there are Lovestruck, Over you and You and I. I think it's great and can't wait for him to release more music! Char and Ange, 13 and 14, Felixstowe This album was the biggest flop of the year! Absolutely appalling, not to mention disappointing. His songs were lifeless and repetetive. In conclusion, it was a waste of money!

Extractions: This one's a heartbreaker. This one will make you wring your hands about America, what it means to be a woman, and what it means to be black. In case you ever harbored any utopian ideals about how with hard work and good intentions we might make this a better country, this book will certainly disabuse you of any daydreams in that regard. Also, if you ever had any mushy, personal thoughts about fame how, if you ever managed to get your picture in Time magazine, you could transcend your own personal history and achieve a secular heaven of success this book will disabuse you of that, too. Philippa Duke Schuyler was born in 1931 to a black journalist father and a wealthy Southern white mother who sold themselves on the idea that only by miscegenation could the race question in America be solved. (Or, more accurately, Josephine, the mom, wrote that down in her diary. George Schuyler may have had another whole agenda.) Josephine had gone from man to man and wanted to make a statement, put some kind of meaning in her life. She married that black man, scandalized her folks, fed her daughter on raw liver and brains and began keeping scrapbooks on her "hybrid experiment." The raw liver must have worked because in no time Philippa was walking, talking, reading, writing. Her IQ tested out at 180, and by age 4 she was playing Mozart. Her dad was already fooling around with the ladies, but her mother had found her life's work, the creation of a musical genius.

Extractions: Apparently, I'm not the only one who feels this way. Customers clamor for products whose promise is "Stay young forever," and cosmetic surgery is at an all-time high. When I was a kid, if somebody said they had some work done, it probably meant something like having their back porch screened in. Now it's more likely to mean they've had their back porch liposuctioned. The number of people getting cosmetic surgery has tripled in the past 10 years. Tummy tucks have increased over 200 percent, and something called a "forehead lift" has also increased over 200 percent. Breast augmentation has increased more than 500 percent. (I don't think they mean this per person.) There's nothing wrong with people trying to look younger. If it makes them feel better and they are aware of any possible risks, and they can afford it, why not go for it? I'm just questioning why so many people feel it's necessary today. What does it mean to live in a society where some parents want to look younger than their children? Speaking of children, cosmetic surgery patients are getting younger and younger as even teenagers fret about wrinkles.

The last thing that she did remember was crying on Will Krudski's shoulder about her situation. She figured she must have fallen asleep and he'd gotten her to bed and left. "Jake? Open up, I need to talk to you," Hamilton whispered through the door. She opened it a second later, rubbing her eyes against the early morning light that filtered into the room. "Morning," he said to her.

Part 9 October 15, 2000 Dear Jake, It's been two weeks since the last time I saw you, two days since my last letter, and two hours since the last time we spoke. I miss you. I never thought it was possible to miss someone so much . . . but I feel like I even have trouble breathing when you aren't around. It's like, since we met, you've become so important to my life. You make me a whole person. And, when we're apart, I feel incomplete. All I can seem to think of is you and how long it will be until I can see you again. You told me today that your mom might let me stay there for a few days over Thanksgiving holidays. I know it's only a month or so away, but it seems like forever. I'm not sure if I can hold out that long. Maybe I can sneak up to the city for the day next weekend. I'll talk to Bella about it this week and see what I can find out.
