An intresting Little Book for Beginner
Not a bad suppliment for beginners.

FENCING: KNOW THE SPORT by Alan Skipp
If you are new to fencing, you may be intimidated by many of the books on how to fence. They are big with a lot of fancy French words in them and lots of diagrams. You just want something simple with clear pictures. I'vegot just the book for you. It's called FENCING (Know the Sport) by AlanSkipp. It's got sections on clothing, the weapons, basic moves, targetareas, and a nice glossary of terms. It's got great pictures illustratingstance and movement and the text is clear and concise.When new studentssign up for lessons at Tampa's Fencing Academy, they receive a copy of thisbook to help get them started. That's a pretty good recommendation itself,don't you think?

Fencing - get to know it
48 pages, 80 full colour photographs, and half a dozen line drawings! How to dress, step, lunge, fleche, balestra, attack, guard and parry with any of the three Olympic fencing weapons. Anyone who'd like to see lots of pictures of modern fencing, along with a comprehensive listof how to, and a thorough glossary of terms...this is the book for you.It's produced in collaboration with the British Amateur Fencing Association and it covers the lot. Other books will cover itin more depth, but as a colourful introduction to the sport,I doubtyou'llget better.Even if you spend a lot more.

Pocket sized simple introduction
This is a good simple introduction to fencing.There are lots of pictures of real fencers.All 3 weapons are covered. I would quibble at it beingrather "bitty" but as a cheap into to the sport it is great.Itwould be excellent for beginners to use as a template for their stanceandthe end point of parries.Though the second parry does have the elbowtoo high. A rare book and a classic
Lukovich's book was written both for instructors and students. It is comprehensive but could use even more illustrations. Basic, intermediate and some advanced techniques for all three weapons are covered here. There is enough information to prepare a very good coach's syllabus and drill routines. A good companion to this book would be "Fencing and the Master" by Laszlo Szabo. ... Read more

This econometric study covers the outlook for fencing products in Oceana. For each year reported, estimates are given for the latent demand, or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.), for the country in question (in millions of U.S. dollars), the percent share the country is of the region and of the globe. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a country vis-a-vis others. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each country and across countries, latent demand estimates are created. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.

This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the countries in Oceana). DATED BUT THE STOP ACTION PHOTOS ARE FUN.
This book is from 1970, so of course it is a bit dated but this is a book about the fundamentals of foil fencing and that has hardly changed for a very long time, we still use the same basic parry's and riopste's that weredeveloped around 1600 or so. The best thing about this book are the stopaction photos which you can see by flipping the pages back and forth andthat is unique (I think) in a fencing book, that kind of thing may seemuseless in these day's of video but unfortunately good videos about fencingare still hard to come by. The book is organized into 5 chapters which dealwith the basic priciples and structure of fencing, stance and attack, allthe basic movement and the art of deception.

Of course there are a lot ofmore modern and up to date books about foil fencing available today butthis was the first book about fencing I got so perhaps I'm a bitsentimental about it but like I said the stop action photos make this bookunique and fun. ... Read more
