Product Description
In 1969, the author met a man at a movie theater in Caracas and began a friendship lasting four months. Three years later, this same "man" greeted the author as he was taken on board the Pleiadean ship for the first time. Castillo was later to board space ships four more times over two years. A highly respected engineer, known for his genuine credulity, he dramatically changed his life to research these amazing encounters. His true story of how events unfolded--from the ship rising out of a lake to the "people" who inhabit these vessels (and their control of natural forces)--all lead to a compelling conclusion: the universe is teeming with intelligent, conscious beings. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must read for UFO study
This books describes in detail the author's experience in dealing with UFO. Not only does it reveal many intriguing ideas, but also it encourages further investigation.

Enrique also suggests that "groups led by super-endowed individuals who claim to have links with UFO entities... I ask myself how best to stop these evil leaders, who are so capable of corrupting people's minds and of thoroughly brain-washing them into terribly wrong beliefs. Liberation from such fanatics can occur only when we use our free will, powers of inquiry and discrimination, and conscience to recognize, fight against, and defeat all falsity and deceit." The negative evil force should be taken care of.

Ps. Rumor has it that the English translation may be modified by secret agency of the US. Anyone has read the original version? ... Read more

Product Description
Shocking eyewitness testimony that is just as riveting as the story of the 1947 Roswell UFO crash. On a clear spring day in 1955, Air Force pilot Robert Willingham was flying an F-86 fighter jet across West Texas when he saw an object "as bright as a star" streak past him and then execute a 90-degree turn going 2,000 miles per hour. Giving chase in his jet, the decorated World War II and Korean War veteran watched in awe as the object suddenly plummeted to Earth near Del Rio, Texas. Soon after, he visited the crash site and saw a large, silver UFO impacted into the side of a sandy hill. Nothing could have prepared him for what happened next, as his life was about to change forever. Foreword by Dr. Bruce Maccabee, veteran UFO researcher and bestselling author. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars book review
This book adds another piece to the whole UFO mystery, giving some really good detail into an occurance that, until now, hasn't gotten a lot of attention.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Story, but.....
Poorly edited, but very interesting, book. The authors tell the story of a
retired USAF Reserve pilot (Colonel Robert Willingham) who, while flying a
military mission in 1955, claims to have witnessed the crash of a flying
disk just across the Mexican/US border near the small town of Langtry,
Texas.Accompanied by a non-military friend, the pilot purports to have
flown to the crash site in a small plane later that same day, only to be
run-off by Mexican military officers.Warned to keep quiet about the
incident by his superiors, Willingham broke his silence in the late 60s,
telling his story to a small Pennsylvania newspaper.A clipping of his
story was found in the late 70s by a now deceased UFO investigator, and thus
began a series of investigations by various individuals/organizations.The
authors, who discovered the alleged incident while working on a previous
book (Mexico's Roswell), wrote "The Other Roswell" with the full cooperation
of Col. Willingham.

Although a very compelling narrative, the question comes down to whether the
reader believes Col. Willingham's story. There's no doubt this decorated
combat veteran was a USAF pilot who served his country with distinction, but
sadly he can offer no corroborating evidence to support his claim.Despite
a seemingly large number of people (other USAF pilots/aircrew, a USMC
officer, Mexican military, local citizens, his friend who accompanied him to
the crash site etc.) who Willingham claims could verify his story, all of
them are either dead, he has long since forgotten their names (if indeed he
ever even knew the names), or have names so common it would be difficult
to track them down. The authors point out Willingham, in his haste, failed
to take a camera with him to the crash site, and apparently he did not think
to take a photograph of a piece of the disk he claims to have recovered from
the crash site.Throughout the book, readers will find themselves thinking,
"If only......"

Col Willingham would appear to have no reason to fabricate this incident,
he's certainly not in it for the money. What is puzzling, however, are the
holes and discrepancies in his story that have been noted over the years.
First and foremost, he doesn't remember the date of the crash. That's quite
odd considering he remembers all the details of the B-47 bomber escort
training mission he flew that day, as well as the serial number and
call sign of the aircraft he flew. One would have thought Col Willingham
would have kept his pilot's log books, documents pilots are required to
maintain to record particulars of every flight made.In subsequent
reports and interviews, Col Willingham has also contradicted himself with
regards to various details of the story, including the type of aircraft
flown (F-86 v. F-94), the mission being flown (flight test v. bomber escort)
what airbase he flew out of (Carswell v. Dyess), and the area where the craft
was alleged to have gone down (Langtry v. Larado). While the authors
attribute these and other lapses to age and a head injury the colonel
sustained in combat in Korea, they are troublesome nonetheless in
view of the lack of supporting evidence.

"The Other Roswell" is a quick read, I finished it in an evening.Even at
that, the authors seemed to have padded the book with superfluous
information and illustrations. The authors also tended to repeat themselves
several times across chapters, a habit I've always found annoying. Most
disappointing was the apparent lack of research by the authors to confirm
even the most basic details of Col. Willingham's story. As a amateur
military aviation historian, I found myself asking very elementary
questions. What unit was Col. Willingham assigned to at the time of the
incident? Where was that unit based in 1955? What type aircraft was the unit
flying in 1955? Why were USAF Reserve F-86s fighters stationed at an active duty Strategic Air Command base? What was the service history of the F-86 serial number "CD-195" Col. Willingham claims to have flown that day? Could not the F-86 Sabre Pilots' Association and/or the B-47 Stratojet Association be helpful in identifying/finding aircrew who flew on the mission in question? A few calls or e-mails could have answered these and other questions relatively quickly, substantiating at least parts of Col. Willingham's story in the process.

5-0 out of 5 stars Other Roswell
This book is the second is a series written about the Mexican Roswell,
which was investigated by both the U.S. and Mexico. The authors, UFO investigators by avocation have put many hours into their research. They put forth credible documents and information. This particular
book contains interviews and information that supports the details given in their first book: Mexico's Roswell. This book is a better read after you have read the first of the series. It is a book for the UFO enthusiast as well as others who seek truth and information about our relationships to other worlds and dimensions.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another UFO Bits the Dust
Noe Torres and Ruben Uriarte, authors of "Mexico's Roswell," present an equally perplexing story as told to them by a Colonel Willingham, who appears to be who he says he is, and a creditable witness.Colonel Willingham paid a heavy price for his willingness to talk about this incident; loss of his military pension.Torres and Uriarte's investigation of Colonel Willingham's case seems more rigorous and comprehensive than their earlier work of a UFO crash in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Colonel Willingham, while serving as an F-86 pilot in the U. S. Air force in 1955, witnessed visually and on radar a rapidly descending UFO and followed it as it made an abrupt 90 degree turn and crashed near Del Rio, Texas. He subsequently rented a light aircraft, returned to the crash site, and landed where he was greeted and turned away by the Mexican military that were waiting with the crashed spacecraft until the American military arrived.

Colonel Willingham's original report was filed with NICAP where it lay uninvestigated until now.His original report was met with threats from the military about discussing the incident further. Now after more than 50 years he is speaking out again, this time to authors Torres and Uriarte. The colonel presents a convincing story, but he lacks corroborating witnesses.

While is book is a bit repetitive at times, it is an interesting, engaging and easy read and certainly worth the going price of $11.00, particularly if you are a UFO buff.

5-0 out of 5 stars From the Inside Front Cover:
Book Content Description from the Authors:

This book is not a work of fiction, nor is it a technical treatise....It is in fact an unprecedented Photo-Journal which, for the first time anywhere, offers the beginnings of the inside story to one of the most remarkable series of extraterrestrial encounters ever documented and recorded in the history of mankind. After three years of highly confidential, scientific study under tight security, skilled investigators bring you the amazing photo-events and photo-experiences of a Swiss farmer/caretaker, his startling contacts with extraterrestrial visitors from the Pleiades, and the unparalleled mountain of evidence left in the wake of these unworldly events.

UFO... Contact from the Pleiades presents the incredible facts surrounding the ongoing events that began January 28, 1975... and that still continue today as you read this.It is an extraordinary account about Lt. Col. Wendelle C. Stevens (USAF-RET.) and his hand-picked investigative team as they began a three year investigation into the massive amount of evidence, which includes hundreds of clear, sharp photographs, scores of landing tracks, numerous eye witnesses, 8mm motion picture film, more than 3,000 pages of notes on the contact conversations, samples of alien metals from the Pleiadian spacecraft, and much, much more. And it is an astonishing record of the doors which these amazing events opened into ancient history, revealing unbelievable but true correlations between ancient man and visitors from the Pleiades, supporting the Swiss events in an unprecedented manner.

By the time you reach the final chapter in this Photo-Journal, you will have reached an exciting new level of awareness concerning the previously "most impenetrable" mystery of our time... UFO's.Has the "most impenetrable" mystery of this century been solved? Can we now replace the term UFO with known... IFO... Identified Flying Object?Only you can decide.

Product Description
Lots of books promise to tell the truth about UFOs. To finally reveal whether or not humans are being tagged and studied like elk, if aliens are preparing for a final invasion, or if the government is lying to us to pursue a secret research agenda. This is not one of those books. In this book, two guys drive across the country to visit famous UFO sites and meet the people involved in historic events and present-day commercialism. For whatever the real explanation may be, it's easy to forget that the UFO phenomenon is a distinctly human one. For every sighting there is a witness, and for every abduction a victim or willing participant. And then there are the UFOlogists, the psychologists, psychiatrists, and hypnotists, the entrepreneurs, the reporters, the cranks, and the crazies. Mix well, salt to taste, and scatter across America. Mark where they land, see where they live, and draw a route to connect them all together. Then drive. This is the Gray Highway. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This Book Rocks
This book had me rolling on the floor -- three cheers for the intrepid UFO searchers. Can't wait for the next book!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very original take on an often abused subject!
While I love reading about the unexplained, supernatural, and otherwise curious, I'm about as skeptical as people come about the existence of "original" UFO books. It's all been covered about a milliontimes, in a million different ways, right?

WRONG. Gray Highway approachesthe American UFO mythology from a totally new angle: two friends embark ona roadtrip of famous UFO sites. From Roswell to New England, to the mesavortex of Sedona, they scrounge the American landscape for signs ofintelligent life...and often come up with the unexplicable. The co-authorsrecorded their experience vigilantly, and their back-and-forth narrative isthe work of people unhampered by commercialism or preconceived notions ofthe subject matter. Which isn't to say they don't know what they're talkingabout!

Gray Highway is a light but literate exploration of how acollective mythology shapes the American landscape. Whether you believe inlittle green men or not, you will surely be taken in by this very originaland entertaining book. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't expect too much...
Yes, it's the same old worn out thing, Margaret. Don't get too caught up in the military credentials on the cover. The problems: (1)Interviews are incomplete and or woefully lacking in beneficial detail, (2)Gaps in understanding of context and circumstances at the time, (3)Important background facts about the military's organization, units, and people involved are absent, (4)"Witnesses." Who, what, when, where, how, why, and then the big one - So what ? Maybe a good primer for further inquiry.

2-0 out of 5 stars 50 Years of Tourist Traps
I was the weak-willed victim of a tourist trap when I bought this unworthy book, during a pass through Roswell on a cross-country vacation. I found Roswell to be a really fun town, with a good sense of humor as the locals cash in on their town's notoriety, in a jovial tongue-in-cheek fashion. If you can make money off fun-loving tourists (like me) then more power to you. But I also noticed the hardcore fringe side of Roswell - the conspiracy theorists and unyielding believers - and that is the source behind this book. This volume is little more than a timeline propped up with old photocopied news articles, illegible military documents, and present-day interviews with senior citizens who are clearly sick of answering questions for the past 50 years. This is merely a scrapbook of "evidence" concerning a cover-up at Roswell, but you have to wonder how much evidence that doesn't support the author's thesis was "accidentally" left out. This deserves a second star because the author steers clear of unequivocal alien theories, and takes the stance that the evidence does not support the "official" explanations from the government. In effect, what else COULD it be? This is a refreshing stance but doesn't add to this book's interest. Other books on this subject may advance actual explanations into the Roswell incident, however outlandish. But at least those types of books investigate rather than collect, and are usually more fun to read.

Beware of this book's second edition, which is self-produced and appears to be manufactured at Kinko's, and is heavily overpriced at Roswell tourist shops. Mr. Schmitt and his colleagues are merely piggybacking on this handy cottage industry that should keep bringing in the gullible bacon for decades to come.

1-0 out of 5 stars Maybe the gov't can cover up this book
I have always been intrigued by the stories of Roswell and look forward to reading interesting and new information on the subject. This book does not meet any minumum standard of interest. The best word to describe this book is repetetive.I lost count how many times the book quotes Mac Brazel as saying "You know how they talk of little green men?... They weren't green."The book was a very tiresome read and for an interesting subject, never got me interested. The time line is maybe the best thing in this book.In the center has black and white photos that don't mean much or add anything.A photo of a man in profile is captioned "Don Schmitt listens as one of the witnesses relates her story of the recovery."WHO CARES?

4-0 out of 5 stars Ufo crash
This was one of the most interesting books that I have read in my life. The story talks about the whole coverup that took place at Roswell New Mexico in the summer of 1947. This was the best book that I read aboutthe event that took place at Roswell in 1947.I have read other booksabout the Roswell incident but this book had so much more information thanthose other books. The only thing that was difficult was that the book waspretty confusing. It talked about stuff that happened in 1947 then in thenext chapter it would talk about something that is going on at the presenttime. That aspect of the book was very confusing at times.I thought thatthis book was better than other books on this topic because this book hadfirst hand information from people who were actualy at the crash site andpicked up some of the material that was found. Also these people wereinvolved in the cleanup at Roswell. These people were then sworn tosecrecy about the event that just took place. I would recommend this bookto anyone who is interested in Science Fiction and wants to learn moreabout the UFO crash at Roswell.I think that the government is hidingsomething from us and this is important information that should be open tothe public.I would recommend this book because this was the best storyabout the Roswell crash that I have read

1-0 out of 5 stars A classic story of the one that got away
When I read this book I was left with the impression of the perverbial story of "the one that got away". Everytime a new book is written on this subject the story becomes more fantastic. For several years I have tried to find an answer as to why this story will not go away even though there is so much evidence that what was found by Mac Brazel could not possibly be an alien spacecraft. I finally found my answer last July by paying a visit to Roswell NM during their 50th anniversary celebration of the event. That answer is money. This has become a cottage industry for the residents of Roswell. It has also become a living for the authors of books about the subject. There is no profit in a prosaic explanation for the event. There is only profit in keeping this ridiculous story alive. I don't know what frightens me more: the fact that Randle and Schmitt can become rich by perpetrating lies or that so many people are more than willing to believe these lies. If anyone buys this book I recommend that they also purchase the one recently written by Phillip Klass: "The Truth About Roswell" It gives a much needed perspective of the event. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars First-rate UFO documentary!
As a UFO Investigator, this particular book was an eye-opener both for its merits as a suspenseful documentary as well as a report full of factual information. The authors have showcased in a persuasive and comprehensive way the lesser-known case of this Nova Scotia sighting.
For UFO debunkers, it is tough to refute evidence in the midst of several highly-reputable witnesses as well as fishermen who are used to seeing objects (ships, boats, rafts, etc.) in the water.Another government cover-up!

3-0 out of 5 stars Had a lot of fun, could have been a lot better...
This book documents one of the better UFO crash cases in history. The case, if it had been taken seriously as such by those at the scene (they thought they were looking for a downed aircraft), could have been a much better case - for example, if we had a sample of the anomalous foam the witnesses reported.Anyway, for case quality, we have government documents and multiple, independent witnesses to SOMETHING anomalous on the night of 4 October 1967, and multiple witnesses to a faint light out in the hardbor before the boats went out and found the foam.Further, we have rumors, rumblings and anonymous sources telling us of curious Canadian naval activities in a nearby area for days right after the crash.

So, there might be a good story here if the evidence could be put together in a serious, coherent way, but instead we have infotainment.I suspect that this simply the only way this book could be published. No footnotes, no detailed timeline charts or evidence trees, no photocopies of documents - i.e. not a serious treatment. That said, I think Chris Styles and Don Ledger are sincere and serious researchers who put a lot more time and energy into this work than this slim volume suggests. It's unfortunate that this is the principal public document.

3-0 out of 5 stars Dark Object - 40th anniversary of the Shag Harbour incident
The book reveals that something extraordinary occurred at Shag Harbour, the night of October 4, 1967 now just over 40 years ago. This was witnessed by a number of people, who reported the "crash" to the RCMP detachment in Barrington, NS, and later, the alleged impact site was examined by a pair of commercial fishing boats at the request by the RCMP, accompanied by an RCMP officer. Well written and informative, but rather short on the whole story. The only documents included in the book were the RCMP reports and the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) in Halifax contacting the Royal Canadian Air Force's "Air Desk" in Ottawa.

There were other government documents which unfortunately, did not make it into the book for whatever reasons, even though they were made available by Don Ledger and Chris Styles to the publisher. In fact, the case is archived in the Canadian Archives ([...]), which indicates that the Department of National Defence (DND) did conduct an underwater search of the area, but failed to locate any evidence of an object "in Shag Harbour" but does not mention the activities in Shelburne, NS. Interesting that the DND found the incident of enough significance to conduct the underwater search. There are many more files and docs which support this incident, not included in the public presentation of the archives.

Anyone interested in Canadian UFO phenomena should have this book in their reference library.

4-0 out of 5 stars Short, but Sweet!
"DARK OBJECT" was for me a good read.Authors Ledger and Styles present a story which has never been solved.Lots of personal interviews, government envolvement, and honest investigations. As with most of the UFO sightings and reports, often times very little or no physical evidence is ever found.Ufology is a sensitive subject for many people. This book doesn't ask you to believe, just sit back and read for yourself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not as bad as is made out
Ok so I know it's a little on the thin side but it's an introduction to an interesting topic. You may well look beyond this book for a more in depth analysis of the Shag Harbour incident but, if like me, you're happy with a more generalized account then this is a book worth reading.

It won't take the next 6 weeks to read but will give you a flavor of what (allegedly)happened. ... Read more

Product Description
I am not an Ufologist, but I am a former news reporter who has an inquisitive mind about these strange and persistent phenomena of alleged extraterrestrial visitors and how they have and are influencing us.

However, as I research UFOs, alien abductions and the possibility of extraterrestrial visitors coming to Earth throughout the ages, I, like so many others find that the physical evidence is very rare.

That’s why UFOs and alien encounters where eyewitnesses recount symbols, hieroglyphs or insignia get special attention from me. They go to the top of my list.

This first of a three-part series deals with these symbols and markings as reported, plus it delves in how similar symbols are connected to ancientbut extinct, advanced civilizations and the world’s most prominent religions.

Somehow, these symbols and hieroglyphs and their meanings mystically intertwine with the past, present and future of man’s spiritual and material life.

I hope this presentation answers a few questions for you. But more importantly, I hope it sparks many more questions.

Product Description
Patterned after the first volume published in 1964, "The UFO Evidence, Volume II" is much anticipated by the research community. The book reports 30 years of UFO sightings since 1964 with related data and descriptive features organized by category. In this report, the sightings are arranged by witness categories. Among the topics discussed are the now strongly established patterns of UFO sightings, the growing evidence worldwide that UFOs represent someone's technology, the history of government sponsored UFO investigations, and political and human responses to UFO sightings. The master chronology is an incredibly complete listing, which also refers the reader to pertinent sections in the book for fuller descriptions. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic resource
Having read the first book, had to get this one from Amazon. I'm interested in facts, first-hand accounts, and evidence; not speculation or theories. If you're doing serious research on the subject, this is a must-read. Expensive and worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The UFO Evidence re-reviewed
The 701 unknown cases from the Air Force's Project Blue Book don't seem to matter to science... just like the reports in this book, which fall on deaf ears. Why is that?

This is a well organzied, technical book packed with TONS of useful information. Hopefully future generations of scientists can make sense of all the data. I'm sure this would be one of the best places to look in search for answers regarding UFOs.

3-0 out of 5 stars Secondary Sources Limit the Value of this Research
On the surface,UFO Evidence V II. is an extremely facinating read that will leave you amazed and puzzled:what are we to make of all this 'evidence'? And while it is indeed thorough in coverage and apparently much more objective than most UFO studies, it's not saying much. The reason is that the so-called 'evidence' is of little value when not subjected to scientific scrutiny;coming from secondary sources of dubious worth, we are asked to accept it at face value.

To exmplify, using an oft-repated expression favored by Charles Fort when citing so called 'data' of uncertain provenance and specificity from his own favorite sources of 'scientific data' such as newspapers and enthusiat magazines: "For All I Know, the pilot who said he saw this Flying Suacer was drunk to the gills that day!" No wonder scientists can't take the phenomenon seriously.

When I bought this book, having heared of NICAP's reputation, I was expecting primary evidence gathered in a manner similiar to that for Project Blue Book, using rigorous standards of data collection by objective inquierers.Instead I got a rehash of stories from 30 years worth of "Foo-ology" Books.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best reviews of the UFO phenomenon
"The UFO Evidence - Volume II - a thirty-year report" by Richard Hall, is without doubt one of the best reviews of the UFO phenomenon, in the last decade - "a natural history of UFOs" - a worthy successor to the first classic volume from 1964.

Every researcher, skeptic and people interested in the UFO subject would get something out of this remarkable book. It presents a persuasive case for the physical reality of the UFO phenomenon.Richard Hall describes significant patterns and characteristics of the UFO phenomenon in a comprehensive study that brings together decades of detailed research and study of the subject.

If you really want to know the real facts of the UFO subject this would be one of your best starting points. If you think you know it all, this book will provide you with a firm foundation in facts and will perhaps get you thinking about how well you really understand the facts about this controversial subject.

My endorsement comes from the background of decades of research. My own book "The OZ Files - the Australian UFO Story" was published in 1996.I have had a tremendous amount of respect and confidence in Richard Hall's work in this field."The UFO Evidence, Volume II A Thirty year report" certainly shows why.

5-0 out of 5 stars fascinating
this book is highly recommended to all like me who are irresistibly drawn to the ufo subject, extremely informative, well written and I found the chapters on the ancient Vedanta connection especially fascinating. Perhaps most of the UFO and abduction stories are a little outdated, from the 50's and 60's, but relevant nonetheless. I'm a bit of a slow reader, but still read it in 5 days, could'nt put it down. A must read.

5-0 out of 5 stars A balanced Account
This is one of the best books dealing with the subject of UFOs I have read. The author has a very sober and balanced account of the subject. The first part of the book recounts many of the most high profile cases of UFO sightings, abduction et. al. The author is neither credulous nor incredulous but fair throughout. He fields it all with many references and contexts. The second part of the book brings to bear his knowledge of Vedic lore and juxtaposes it with the modern UFO mythos. It is a work that covers something heretofore not explored by any writer to my knowledge - at least in any depth. Thompson has a fine analytical mind in all he writes. I highly recomend this book to anyone interested in this subject. This is not sensational (as so many books on the subject are). It is instead scholarly throughout. Much food for thought here. This work will find a place on my bookshelf between Jaques Valee's
"Passport To Magonia" and Evans-Wentz's "The Fairy Faith In Celtic Countries."

4-0 out of 5 stars EXPLAINS ALOT ABOUT UFO BEHAVIOR
The strange tales of lights in the sky moving in seemingly-impossible ways, craft that land and leave marks on the ground, abductions by odd-looking humanoids, animal mutilations and all the other stories associated with UFOs are largely ignored by the media and by academic scholars. Since there is no explanation for them that fits our current knowledge of how the universe works, people who want to avoid being ridiculed tend to pretend these things don't exist. Some brave souls have tackled the problem and offered "explanations" that may fit some of the tales -- those involved are hallucinating, making it up, or have seen meteors, the moon, ball lightening, or swamp gas.

Others who say these phenomena are produced by alien beings from other planets find themselves on the fringe of respectability and some have lost their academic positions because they took the abduction stories seriously (Dr. John Mack is one such). But now comes Richard L. Thompson to offer another view of these weird happenings. I'm an admirer of Thompson's work on a favorite book, Forbidden Archeology, and I've also read a lot of the same books he uses as sources for Alien Identities. Here, Thompson makes parallels between what happens to those involved with UFOs (sightings and contact) and stories from Indian Vedic sources, both ancient and modern.

I find these comparisons compelling, but also found it difficult to keep track of the various Vedic books and concepts he discusses. The Vedic sources, many going back thousands of years, are largely unknown in mainstream US society. But the basics of the Vedic belief-system are similar to current spiritual ideas that are widespread - the idea that we all have an etheric double, the existence of the Spirit world, the idea of other realms of existence, reincarnation, and the idea that spirits are all around us.

Like Thompson, I found the stories told by Betty Andreasson (in the Raymond Fowler books) to appear to relate the aliens to beings that exist in the spirit world. She sometimes traveled in her astral body and was able to float through solid objects (like doors and walls) and she saw the beings turn into pure light. Whitley Streiber and others relate similar stories.

Many contactees have been given information about the human race, sometimes warnings, sometimes predictions, and sometimes the material is very bizarre. The aliens who impart this information are also sometimes bizarre, wearing odd costumes and imitating humans, but not getting it quite right. An example is the Men in Black whose clothing and behavior is often inappropriate, but who purport to be acting in some official capacity.

As with spirit communication, people receiving these messages may assume that because the source (they believe) is alien, it must be true. But when you study the literature of spirit communication, you realize that spirits exist at many levels and their perceptions of reality are limited, just as with us. There are also spirits who are inimical to those they contact, who deliberately give misinformation. The same appears to be the case with aliens. Could spirits and aliens be the same entities?

Thompson relates the UFO craft to the ancient Indian vimanas (flying machines), and provides muchinformation I have not seen in other sources. For instance, he tells us most of these vimanas were not built by humans, but rather were built by the various entities of other realms, who can interact with humans. He also tells us these dwellers of other realms are related to us and can breed with us, explaining why so many ancient books (including the Bible) talk of intermarriage between man and gods. And also explaining the many stories of aliens stealing human sperm or impregnating human women.

Thompson's analysis of UFOs in relation to Vedic literature is well thought-out, but of course the author is seeing them within his own belief system, where they are a better fit than with mainstream Western Christian belief systems. He does give some examples from non-Oriental sources (apparition at Fatima, Irish faeries, etc.) to show the persistence of these entities in human experience. He explores some of the same territory covered by Jacques Vallee in his excellent books on the UFO phenomena.

This book gives insight into a different way to understand UFOs, that goes beyond "little green men" from outer space zipping around in space ships. It is a worthwhile read for anyone interested in understanding the mystery of UFOs.

5-0 out of 5 stars A down to earth context for out of this world ideas.
One of the difficulties in the 'UFOlogy' field is that there are plenty of offbeat accounts, and in some cases evidence but mostly in pieces, or without context, or with potential other explanations. (There is more than most people are aware of, though.)

Authors such as Dr. Jacques Vallee have given interesting historical overviews of UFO lore. Of course, all these accounts are 'accounts' and 'Lore', they are not scientific evidence, but since these experiences don't seem to happen on command inside a science lab, this may account for that problem. The fact that the surgeon general has not yet made a ruling about the existence or effect of UFOs or 'experiences' potentially related, will not change whether they or the experiences exist.

ALIEN IDENTITIES is a book title I cringe to give to people and consider an embarrassment to the content. Consider it was written when such a title (not to mention Streiber as an intro) were apparently considered a hot sell and hence the publisher promo. The CONTENT of the book has a calm, fair, respectability in its own fashion that belies the assumption and hype of the title.

This book is a great introduction for people new to the subject. The first half is a recount of documented Vedic history, which is part and parcel of their religion. The second half is a recount of documented recent history--accounts in the UFOlogy field. Which, like religious history, are equally tenuous and unprovable.

However, when you read the detail from the historical accounts, and then you read the detail of claims from the last half century, the parallel is more than just striking. It's pretty much obvious to anybody with half a brain and no major personal bias that the modern day accounts are clearly talking about some of the same kind of things as the ancient accounts.

In the context of how seriously we should take modern accounts, for which we have little hard proof and a lot of confusion, a realization that they are hardly a novel new result of science fiction books is important.

In the context of religion, "the Gods," and many accounts biblical as well as Vedic, it is thought provoking to say the least.

I highly recommend this book. It reads well, it is interesting, it is informative, and it doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. It makes no claims. It is one of the very few UFOlogy related books that I have kept on my shelves for years.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the most brilliant books I have read!
Very well-researched and insightful work by Dr. Thompson! I have read this gem of a book from cover to cover not once but thrice - undoubtedly one of the most original ufological literatures I have come across, and it also did confirm many of my own received ideas about the ancient accounts of vimanas in the classical Sanskrit writings. A book I would recommend to anyone any day, and an awesome read! ... Read more

Product Description

Are the lights and strange craft in our skies aliens from other galaxies—or the product of fraud, delusion, or mistaken identity?

John Michael Greer—a respected authority on the occult and the unexplained—reveals the secret hidden at the center of the UFO labyrinth. This meticulously researched guide plunges into the thick of the controversy with an unexpected and compelling approach to the UFO mystery, from Kenneth Arnold's 1947 sighting of the first "flying saucers" to present-day encounters.

Moving beyond the familiar debate between those who believe that UFOs are extraterrestrial in origin and those who believe UFOs do not exist at all, this unique work goes further to examine stranger and more rewarding topics—the nature of apparitions, the history of secret American aerospace technologies, the mythology of progress, and the role of popular culture in defining experienced reality.

Praise for Atlantis by John Michael Greer

4-0 out of 5 stars This Book Will Challenge Skeptics and Believers
The earlier reviewer that gave this book one star probably only read the first half of the book. Yes, the first half is mostly a rehash of the history of UFOs, though the middle of the book does mention John Lear and some other very recent aspects sometimes not covered in other books.

The second half of the book is certainly NOT a rehash of typical UFO stories, and it is this part of the book that will challenge readers. The other reviewer before me does a good job of clarifying this part of the argument and so I will not rehash it. This argument will challenge believers and skeptics alike, but I think the author has a good point, which is that we need to reconsider the ways we examine and try to understand the UFO materials/experience. Assuming there is one simple answer that covers this material is problematic.

Personally, I think Vallee, Keel and Greer are on to something very important.

Two notes I will add.First, if you want lots of stories about scarey encounters and all kinds of oddball detail and such, this book will not deliver for you. This is not a collection of abduction stories with lengthy descriptions that will give you the creeps some late night while you are sitting in bed and the wind is howling outside. There are not even the usual passages where a UFO author offers six or eight stories to illustrate a point and its consistency among experiencers.

Second, I wish the author had expanded on the second half of the book. I wanted more on the problems with hypnosis and regression therapy. I always wondered how reliable this stuff really was and how much real training any of the people who do this on abductees really have. The author really has some critical points to make, but he does so briefly.Maybe this is really the subject for an entire other book? Also, the Shamanic experience is mentioned briefly but it seems there are other aspects of this as it relates to UFOs that are not gone into. Again, perhaps that is another book.

So if you want a brief introduction into why hardcore skeptics and hardcore believers are equally mistaken and a quick look at the Vallee/Keel approach, this is a good book. If you already read Passport to Magonia and Operation Trojan Horse, you will find the book interesting but will not find a lot of new material.

5-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Look at the UFO Phenomenon
Although the other "two reviewers" (or actually, it seems to be the SAME "kid" reviewer doing two reviews!) give this book one star, they didn't really explain why they did, at least not very well, other than it being a rehash of material from an occultist instead of a real live UFO enthusiast. Fair enough. But as the blurb from Shepherd Express notes, Greer's book is not the usual book on UFOs, instead focusing on "epistemology, logic, Jungian archetypes, occultism, pop culture and the politics of deception." Most books on UFOs generally fall into one of three paradigms:

1. UFOs are all easily explained away as hoaxes, delusions, or misperceived natural phenomena... this is the skeptics' point of view, based on dogmatic scientism.

2. UFOs are part of a government (or intergalactic) (or extradimensional) conspiracy by MIBs, Grays, Reptilians etc etc. to make us into galactic TV dinners or slaves of one kind or another.

3. UFOs are here to save us from ourselves, ET has come home and so have the angels to save us from our dastardly ways and save the planet...or at least take some of us away in an extraterrestrial Rapture.

Few of the popular UFO books fall outside these three formats, although some like Passport to Magonia: On UFOs, Folklore, and Parallel Worlds by Vallee and Keel's The Mothman Prophecies do bring some interesting alternatives to bear on the interaction of culture, cultural expectations, and the anomalies and unexplainable things we see in the skies...or scratching at our bedroom windows. Although one CAN find much of what Greer discusses in various sources around the Internet (and in old fashioned books!), only Greer has taken a historical view of the phenomenon, then compared the evidence to ALL THREE paradigms, in addition to a helping of sociocultural materials on such allied historical movements as the Spiritualists, and religious apparitions and laid it all right in front of the reader to look at and decide for themselves.

Basically, there is no ONE answer to the mystery of the UFO phenomenon. It is a whole -spectrum- of various phenomena (misperception, disinformation, observer's bias, psychological archetypes, geology, etc.) all lumped together into one box we call "the UFO phenomenon." And that's probably going to be why this book won't sell as well as if it were one of the BIG THREE in UFO circles, because it won't be square-pegged that way, it won't fit into one of the three paradigms, and the people who buy UFO books usually fit into one of those paradigms of skeptic, true believer, or conspiracist.

Greer does take a broad view and approach with an application of scientific methodology in this book, to the point where he even offers several predictions in the forms of Null Hypotheses, that the UFO phenomenon will eventually morph with the changes in military technology, and dwindle with the eventual passing of the "big voices" (UFO celebrities) in the debate and changes in our culture as we begin to deindustrialize (see Greer'sThe Long Descent: A User's Guide to the End of the Industrial Age)...although some form of the "contactee faith" will be with us for a long time to come.

My final caveat is that, while I give Greer's book five stars, and although 95% of UFO "incidents" are explainable, that leaves 5% that remain mysterious...and I think it is human to need mystery and the unknown, so let's leave that 5% alone, shall we? ;-)

1-0 out of 5 stars Re-hash of very old material
The UFO situtation seems pretty complex and now that it is a popular subject many people who are in the paranormal are writing books to cash in on the popularity. This book is a re-hash of old UFO material, save your money just do a search on your computer and you will get the same info thats in this book.[...]

1-0 out of 5 stars Not really from a UFO investigator
I bought this book because I am very interested in UFOs, I bought many books over the past year. I must say it is my impression that this book is not done by someone who has been researching in the field. It all appears one sided and presents the work of other well known cases. I have read authors like Hopkins, Good, Friedman, Hynek, Imbrogno, Strieber and found their work and research much more interesting since they were out in the field and personaly involved. If you are looking for a good book on the UFO phenomenon then this is not the one.. Of course this is my opinion but I am very sorry I spent the extra money I had to buy it.. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent...
This is a truly fascinating and fun volume. As a previous reviewer remarked, this is the perfect book to sit up reading at night with a glass (or two) of a good wine. Very informative and extremely entertaining...

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Marvelous
This is a great book.I found it about ten years ago in a small bookshop in Los Angeles (where else?), and sat up that night, with a candle burning on my patio and a glass of red wine at my elbow, utterly entranced.Mr. Kafton-Minkel is a writer of elegance and ease.He has that gift of straight-forward narrative (and high intelligence) so rare in writers of, as he humbly puts it in his forward, "crazy subjects."He tells the story of the Hollow Earth as if he were a calm Martin Gardner describing both the making of King Kong and the founding of Scientology in the same essay. In other words, he lets the crazies speak and lets his own fine mind let them do so, with comments that illuminate, and never disparage, his subjects. This is the very best of what the blinkered world calls "fringe" writing, by which I mean a disciplined, humane, skeptical, lovely, scary, beautifully written history that critics with no imagination will never understand; not the point of the author's labor, his ways or purposes, what this guy was really trying to get at.Hail, sir, and well done.I'm glad you're getting damned near a hundred bucks for a copy-- some folks know a good thing when they see it.Write more.Never Give Up. ... Product Description
The Greatest Deception is the result of extensive research into the connections between descriptions of technology in the Bible and ancient writings, the UFO phenomenon in world history, anomalous evidence from ancient civilizations, and the complete cover-up of these realities by the church, and the world in general. This research organized thousands of biblical verses into categories revealing clear descriptions of flying vehicles, their flight characteristics, the amazing beings that pilot them, and the awesome power and advanced technology they possess. The connection of those beings to mankind is examined in scripture and defined in a manner never before considered, and the unbelievable ramifications of that relationship are unveiled. The book shows the abundance of UFO sightings and encounters throughout world history as revealed in over a thousand recorded events.Scores of UFO quotations and government investigations are presented to bolster the evidence of a long-standing presence of non-human entities on Earth. The amazing structures and glaring evidence of advanced knowledge left behind by a civilization predating any known cultures capable of creating them are covered.Planetary anomalies, the incredible human body and mind, and the similarities shared by the world's gods are added to the equation. The book exposes contradictions in the doctrines and practices of the mainstream church that ignores the reality of the world around it, from the shaky foundations the church is built upon, to the lofty paradise it promises. The truth about a global corporate deception, already well-entrenched in every aspect of human existence, and threatening the very existence of all life, is disclosed in biblical prophecy. This work declares that the "Great Deception" just might be the most obvious cover-up in history and is now guiding mankind toward its own destruction. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Satan: Prince of the air...
I read this book with an open mind, and it seems to me that what people are missing is the fact that God would not allow his "angels" to be captured by governments around the world.Neither would he have to steal sperm and ovum from unwitting abductees! His messengers are not Satan's messengers.Think on this; God can do all that Satan can do, yes, even ride through the air, but, He can do much more than that because He is Spirit.I propose that it is Satan and his minions who will fool the peoples of the earth into believing that he is the Christ and Messiah by the means outlined in this book.Christians and Jews beware of legions of UFO's showing up all at once claiming to be God and setting up here on earth!Christ said, "In the same manner that you saw me leave I will return"That would be BODILY.The author sadly missed the beauty of the Bible and the thread of salvation running through it...if you want to be saved by aliens, go for it.I'll "wait on the Lord".

4-0 out of 5 stars New Outlook On Old Subject
This book has some typos, and there is some redundancy.Fortunately, the content is fresh. The author has done extensive research and backs it up with plenty of references.Patrick Cooke definitely has some insight into biblical connections to the UFO phenomena that is worth reading.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ufology is a godless fraud
A relative lent this trash-book, last year to me, here in Brazil. This book is in fact, a decepcion.Using frauds, half-trues and lies this garbage is so bad, that far from end, I decided not to read more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes you think
After reading the book and reviewing the bible the deception connection is there.

1-0 out of 5 stars The author is off center
The author of this book also has a yahoogroup where he is clearly a disturbed individual with a hatred of the church and shows complete rudeness to anyone who respectfully questions his views. He also belittles them and since he decides what gets posted your response will not get through. I've read both of his books and find them filled with personal opinions and distortions of the truth. In his world it is against God to pray in front of anyone. In other words all the churches in the world are sinning because they allow prayer. He also claims that there is no Hell.
But the true nature of this individual is his outright anger towards the church and anyone who questions his conclusions or dares refer to his conclusions as interpretations or opinions. What I am trying to say is that this is not a nice individual writing these books and is actually quite hostile. It comes through in his books too. They are really distorted versions of scripture and you will find yourself reading it and saying to yourself "wait a minute, how can he ignore all of these scriptures which go against what he is claiming". in other words he finds one scripture that backs up his claims and ignores all of those that disagree with his claims.
I found myself looking into a lot of his claims and finding that he is only providing half truths, of course its the half that agrees with his views and he ignores the half that goes against his views. so in the end you have no idea if what he is saying is true or not. so it's useless.
If of course you disagree with him you are obviously brainwashed by the church and have been decieved by Satan.
And no matter what the topic he is exploring he always brings it back to the church. The only reason why he is writing these books is to say "and thats why the Church and its followers are decieved!" And it's not needed. Some of his assertions are interesting until once again he has to bring it back to the church and how modern churches are satans tools. no matter what the subject. I get the feeling that if you were to talk to this guy about any topic, painting a house for example, that he would within five minutes be explaining to you how the modern church has used house painting to decieve mankind and Satan is behind it.
To be honest, there is almost a sense of deception in his writing. You get the feeling that maybe he has an agenda in distorting the Bible so thoroughly. Either way i would save my time and money because this book is not one of research but is one mans quest to get back at the Christian churches that i suspect did him wrong somehow in the past. This is Patrick Cookes revenge. ... Read more

A sparkling debut novel set in the sixties about a boy's emotional and fantastical journey through alien worlds and family pain.

Against the backdrop of the troubled 1960s, this coming-of-age novel weaves together a compelling psychological drama and vivid outer-space fantasy. Danny Shapiro is an isolated teenager, living with a dying mother and a hostile father and without friends. To cope with these circumstances, Danny forges a reality of his own, which includes the sinister "Three Men in Black", mysterious lake creatures with insectlike carapaces, a beautiful young seductress and thief with whom Danny falls in love, and an alien/human love child who-if only Danny can keep her alive-will redeem the planet. Danny's fictional world blends so seamlessly with his day-to-day life that profound questions about what is real and what is not, what is possible and what is imagined begin to arise. As the hero in his alien landscape, he finds the strength to deal with his own life and to stand up to demons both real and imagined. Told with heart and intellect, Journal of a UFO Investigator will remind readers of the works of Michael Chabon and Jonathan Lethem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite strong
A very strong and unique work, ambiguously science fiction. Set in China it focuses on the uneven and questionably beneficial process of modernization that hits one village. The framing is an investigation into possible UFO sitting that occurs in 2012. The substance or lack thereof the aliens remains highly vague, frustratingly so at times. The main premise of the work isn't developed beyond general suggestions, and to an extent this aspect proves a fundamental redirect, setting up a failure in genre terms. Creatively, though, the book isn't really about the aliens, instead it focuses on how the Chinese government's investigation promotes disorienting rate of modernization on a small rural village. The technological aspect doesn't go beyond the present day yet its focus on social dislocation and rapid alteration in circumstance touches at the core of the science fiction project.

The book takes a sort of psuedo-documentary approach, being a collection of interviews and officially collected documents. In that aspect it's similar to Tidhar's the Tel Aviv Dossier, although better in quality overall. In depth focus on a type of rapid and disorienting social transformation that strikes me as the kind of thing SF should depict more. There's also a nice undercurrent given in the dictatorial state methods used to collect the data of the narrative.

In reading the book I was left unsure repeatedly on the balance of realism within it, how much of what was described was plausible as opposed to an extrapolation. Overall, though, on the strength of the writing and the core premise it appears as a unique and imaginative depiction that's also in line with some of the continuities at work in China today.
