Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Pyrotechnics is the science of materials capable of undergoing self-contained and self-sustained exothermic chemical reactions for the production of heat, light, gas, smoke and/or sound. Pyrotechnics include not only the manufacture of fireworks but items such as safety matches, oxygen candles, explosive bolts and fasteners, and components of the automotive airbag. Pyrotechnic devices combine high reliability with very compact and efficient energy storage, in the form chemical energy which is converted to expanding hot gases either through deflagration or detonation. ... Product Description
A great value! Two military manuals combine into one book. If you purchase both books separate you will pay more for the books plus shipping cost.A boobytrap is an explosive charge cunningly contrived to be fired by an unsuspecting person who disturbs an apparently harmless object or performs a presumably safe act. A. This manual contains procedures, techniques, and expedients for the instruction of the soldier in the assembly, use, detection, and removal of boobytraps in combat. B. Included are descriptions and discussions of the design and functioning characteristics of standard demolition items; firing devices, explosives, missiles, hand grenades, mortar ammunition, artillery ammunition, and bombs. C. This manual also contains information on a variety of items and indigenous materials useful for improvising firing devices, explosives, and pyrotechnic mixtures for guerrilla warfare applications. D. Factory-produced booby traps (dirty trick devices) are described. E. Safety measures pertinent to booby trapping operations are provided for the protection of troops from casualty. This manual contains detailed instruction, diagrams and illustrations to ensure excellent understanding of all aspects of boobytraps and improvised explosive devices.Grenades and Pyrotechnic Signals: The purpose of this manual is to orient soldiers to the functions and descriptions of hand grenades and ground pyrotechnic signals. It provides a reference for the identification and capabilities of various hand grenades and pyrotechnic signals. It also provides a guide for the proper handling and throwing of hand grenades, suggests methods and techniques for the tactical employment of hand grenades, and provides a guide for commanders conducting hand grenade training. ... Product Description
On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners focusing on fireworks, signaling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles in Germany face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying fireworks, signaling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles to Germany? How important is Germany compared to others in terms of the entire global and regional market? How much do the imports of fireworks, signaling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles vary from one country of origin to another in Germany? On the supply side, Germany also exports fireworks, signaling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles. Which countries receive the most exports from Germany? How are these exports concentrated across buyers? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers? This report was created for strategic planners, international marketing executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for fireworks, signaling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles in Germany. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for fireworks, signaling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles for those countries serving Germany via exports, or supplying from Germany via imports. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models. In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing where Germany fits into the world market for imported and exported fireworks, signaling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles. The total level of imports and exports on a worldwide basis, and those for Germany in particular, is estimated using a model which aggregates across over 150 key country markets and projects these to the current year. From there, each country represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a number of competitive countries of origin. Based on both demand- and supply-side dynamics, market shares by country of origin are then calculated across each country market destination. These shares lead to a volume of import and export values for each country and are aggregated to regional and world totals. In doing so, we are able to obtain maximum likelihood estimates of both the value of each market and the share that Germany is likely to receive this year. From these figures, rankings are calculated to allow managers to prioritize Germany compared to other major country markets. In this way, all the figures provided in this report are forecasts that can be combined with internal information sources for strategic planning purposes. ... Read more

Excerpt:Barium carbonate Barium carbonate (Ba CO 3), also known as witherite , is a chemical compound used in rat poison , bricks , ceramic glazes and cement . Witherite crystallizes in the orthorhombic system. The crystals are invariably twinned together in groups of three, giving rise to pseudo-hexagonal forms somewhat resembling bipyramidal crystals of quartz , the faces are usually rough and striated horizontally. The mineral is named after William Withering , who in 1784 recognized it to be chemically distinct from barytes . It occurs in veins of lead ore at Hexham in Northumberland , Alston in Cumbria , Anglezarke , near Chorley in Lancashire and a few other localities. Witherite is readily altered to barium sulfate by the action of water containing calcium sulfate in solution and crystals are therefore frequently encrusted with barytes . It is the chief source of barium salts and is mined in considerable amounts in Northumberland. It is used for the preparation of rat poison, in the manufacture of glass and porcelain , and formerly for refining sugar . It is also used for controlling the chromate to sulfate ratio in chromium electroplating baths. Preparation Barium carbonate is made commercially from barium sulfide either by treatment with sodium carbonate at 60 to 70 °C (soda ash method) or by passing carbon dioxide at 40 to 90 °C. In the soda ash process, sol... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Wrong Publisher!
Not sure where Amazon got the idea that JoP might be the publisher of this book. It's actually from MP Associates. JoP specializes in cheap, photocopied print-on-demand stuff. Do not be deceived. This book is not like that; it's a very high-quality item of great historical value. If you appreciate or have an interest in the history of fireworks, this book is for you.

5 stars, but they don't go to the Kosankes (proprietors of JoP). ... Read more
