Eclipse: Cyberpunk Classic
FANTASTIC CYBERPUNK
Dated but enjoyable.
Gripping possible future novel The basic premise of the rise of a neo-fascist "security" corporation during the starts of a limited nuclear war between the USA and Russia sets the background for the very believable characters, each with distinct personalities and flaws that come to life from the printed page.Mr. Shirley weaves a complex and intertwined tale of guerilla mercenaries, fading rock stars, and fasicst powermongers that would stand proudly with the great works on science fiction. If not for any other reason, his interpretation of developing cultural trends is at the same time illuminating and frightening. Having only read the first book*, I am anticipating no less enjoyment from Penumbra and Corona, the second and third works in the series. I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a complicated read where each page yields a small reward. * Sometimes I do need to spend a little time reading my college textbooks, too.
Shocking, intense, visionary: a work of genius |

Editorial Review Product Description Eclipse is to Java developers what Visual Studio is to .NETdevelopers--it's an integrated development environment (IDE)that combines a code editor, compiler, debugger, texteditor, graphical user interface (GUI) builder, and othercomponents into a single, user-friendly application. Itprovides a solid foundation that enables Java developers toconstruct and run integrated software-development tools forweb development, application design, modeling, performance, testing, and much more. As with any extensive programming tool, however, there's alot to learn. And there s no better guy than well-known Javaexpert Steve Holzner to teach you. An award-winning andbest-selling author who has been writing about Java topicssince the language first appeared, Holzner delivers just thekind of targeted, practical, everyday knowledge you need tohone your mastery of Eclipse. Perfect as a companion to an Eclipse programming tutorial(such as Holzner's own Eclipse, O'Reilly, April 2004) or anideal stand-alone for all those developers who either don'twant or don't need the tutorial approach, the EclipseCookbook contains task-oriented recipes for more than 800situations you may encounter while using this new Javaplatform--from deploying a web application automatically toreverse engineering compiled code, from re-naming allreferences to a class across multiple packages toinitializing the SWT JNI libraries. Each recipe in the ever-popular and utterly practicalproblem-solution-discussion format for O'Reilly cookbookscontains a clear and thorough description of the problem, abrief but complete discussion of a solution, and in-actionexamples illustrating that solution. The Eclipse Cookbookwill satiate Java programmers at all levels who are ready togo beyond tutorials--far beyond writing plug-ins andextensions--and actually use the powerful and convenientEclipse day to day. Editorial Review Product Description What’s a werewolf to do when she finds her soulmate twice? It’s a total eclipse of the heart. In the Heat of the Night, Book One It was only a few years ago that humans found out magical creatures existed. Now, they’re all out of the closet and leading their lives freely when they once used to hide their true identity. Werewolves, vampires, fairies and everything else that goes bump in the night. When Lena walks into the Eclipse bar, she turns Rachel’s world inside out. She’s a werewolf who scents her mate, and nothing will stop her from claiming what’s hers. Rachel has always assumed that when she mated with Jerrod she’d never know another lover, despite her longing for both men and women. No werewolf would be unfaithful. Ever. She’s heard of werewolves having two mates in one lifetime, but after the first one died, not at the same time. She’s terrified of how the man she loves will react when he finds out the instincts that drew her to him five years ago now pull her to another woman. This book has been previously published and has been revised and expanded from its original release. Warning, this title contains the following: Explicit sex, graphic language, anal sex, mild violence, female/female/male interactions, ménage lovin’, hot girl-on-girl action and a fisting scene that might make your thighs tingle. Enjoy! |
74. Contributing to Eclipse: Principles, Patterns, and Plug-Ins by Erich Gamma, Kent Beck | |

Editorial Review Product Description That said, this book is an excellent how-to guide. Gamma and Beck take the time to carefully detail a couple of model plug-in projects--including the industry-standard Hello World exercise--and take care to explain the highly visual Eclipse development process one step at a time. They don't unleash bushels of source code on the reader, but nonetheless manage to walk the reader through a series of progressively more elaborate extension projects that exercise some of the most exciting parts of the Eclipse framework. As you'd expect from a book involving Gamma, discussion of patterns appears with increasing frequency toward the book's conclusion, enabling the reader to expand on the authors' shared wisdom and understand the Eclipse design better. --David Wall Topics covered: How to extend the Eclipse development environment--both in the narrow sense of writing code that makes the software do something new, and in the broad sense of participating in the Eclipse community. Specific coverage addresses extension points, markers, perspectives, and help. There's also a guide to the Eclipse architecture, framed as a series of "pattern stories." Customer Reviews (15)

Editorial Review Product Description Eclipse Kick Start focuses on the practical uses of Eclipse, particularly creating plug-ins, tools that extend the Eclipse platform with added functionality developers need to build best-of-breed Java applications.Starting with an overview of the IDE's features and interface, the authors include examples of building applications, testing, sharing code, and more. They then discuss the variety of pre-written plug-ins that developers can use to build Web services, develop Struts applications, create UML diagrams, and develop Aspect-oriented programs, all within Eclipse.Later chapters cover the plug-in architecture and building new plug-ins for implementing new functions and adding help to applications. Editorial Review Product Description In Grace in Eclipse Zane Hodges presents the biblical perspective on the place of eternal rewards in the life of the believer. Grace in Eclipse demonstrates that eternal rewards are something offered by our loving heavenly Father to motivate us. It is something He wants to give. It is a teaching we need to take seriously as it can have eternal consequences on the quality of our eternal life. Many difficult passages are considered, including some from the Sermon on the Mount as well as the story of the rich young ruler. The result is an inspiring call to all believers to run a winning race for God. It is hard to find good books on rewards. Get this one. Customer Reviews (4)
neglected, yet vitally important teaching The author argues that passages dealing with eternal rewards(for one's works) are often misinterpreted as being passages dealing withsalvation (a free gift.)In order to understand the freeness of oursalvation, the often neglected, yet vitally important concept of eternalrewards must be correctly taught to the believer. This issue along withthe issue of mistaking discipleship passages (works) for salvation (freegift) passages - discussed in "Absolutely Free" by the sameauthor - make up the great bulk of misunderstood scripture which leads manyto combine both concepts into a single doctrine of salvation and ending upwith a (disguised) "works salvation." Hodges also maintainsthat words such as "believe" and "faith" have basicallythe same meaning that they do in English and that they are ofteninterpreted to say more than they actually do by well-meaning theologiansand lay-persons.He cites several examples from scripture where the wordsuse their common meaning where it would be clearly erroneous to ascribe tothem extra meaning. Many of these passages are the same ones used tosupport the concept of works being a necessary result or fruit of one'ssalvation. The concept of the total freeness of salvation contained inthe book often draws the accusation of "antinominanism" -"against law" or "lawless."However, the author makesclear in the book that a saved person is profoundly responsible for hisactions, and that there are consequences in the life to come for one'sdisobedience in this life - which is clearly not advocating lawlessness, but does teach the concept of eternal rewards.
Best book on eternal rewards! Zane Hodges was my professor and mentor in seminary. His lifematches his beliefs. He is an extremely gracious and godly man. I highlyrecommend this book. Bob Wilkin, Ph.D. Author of Confident in Christ:Living by Faith Really Works
Grace Triumphant! Forexample, the phrase "inherit the kingdom" is connected with workstime and time again in the New Testament. It does not make theologicalsense to assume this phrase refers to eternal salvation. Otherwise,works-salvation is being taught, which the Bible has made clear in manyplaces that salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone. In addition, thisassumption does not make sense with the actual words of the text itself. Ifsomeone told you that you are going to "inherit Michael Jordan'shome" versus that your are going to be allowed to "live inMichael Jordan's home", any reasonable person would know that what isbeing spoken of is two very different things. Thus, "inheriting thekingdom" is an eternal reward based on works, that needs to be keptdistinct from eternal salvation based on faith. This is the type of clearbiblically based analysis of passages that I really appreciate about thisbook. Of course the book is much more eloquent than I am in expressing andteaching these ideas. Grace in Eclipse helps to bring out the light ofunderstanding on many difficult passages of the Bible by remaining true tothe actual text of the passage and by remaining true to the rest ofScripture. This is a book that seeks the meaning of difficult passagesbased on the passages themselves and not through some preconceivedtheological grid. I recommend that all who are seeking the truth read thebook and decide for themselves.
