4-0 out of 5 stars Curious George and Dinos, a great combo
My three year old son really likes Curious George and he seemed to like this book. It has some updated aspects (with the new author) to make it more PC for the 2000s while still keeping that curious monkey ever so lovable. The illustrations are bright and George is easily recognizable. I recommend this fun story that combines George with another childhood favorite, dinosaurs.

5-0 out of 5 stars George Goes on an Archeological Dig
This past weekend we visited a bookstore and my son wanted not one, but SEVEN Curious George books to add to his collection (he already had several at home). Curious George's Dinosaur Discovery was one of the books we bought.

This 24-page book was written in 2006 by Catherine Hapka with illustrations by Anna Grossnickle Hines (done in the style of H.A. Rey). In this story, the Man With the Yellow Hat takes George on an adventure to the museum. But much to George's surprise, they keep walking THROUGH the museum and out the back door.

Where were they going?, wondered George. Well, it turns out that George's friend had a surprise; they were going to drive to an archeological dig with scientists and volunteers!

As usual, George's curiousity gets the better of him and, while trying to imitate the digging, sifting and brushing of the scientist, he gets into some mischief!

George assumes that the scientists will be mad, so he starts climbing the hill--and keeps climbing very high. But when he looks down, he realizes that the scientists weren't made at all. In fact, they were pointing excitedly.

What were they pointing at?

This engaging tale is one of the most interesting of the Curious George books in my opinion and, of course, my son loves it! It's geared towards ages 4-8, so it's also good for beginning/intermediate readers.

While this book says "Bonus Activities Inside", there's only a word scramble game on the back inside cover (only 6 words). Also, there are three finger puppets on the back cover that you can photocopy then cut out, tape and use for acting out the story.

I was pleased to see that the main scientist was a woman--so here's to girl power! ... Read more

Dinosaurs!

Here are those marvelous monsters of the Mesozoic as you've never seen them before!

In this colossal collection, you will find dinosaurs larger than houses and dinosaurs as small as cats. Dinosaurs faster than Ostriches. Dinosaurs with 12-inch claws that could rip prey in two. Feathered dinosaurs. Dinosaurs heavier than a dozen African elephants, and dinosaurs more fearsome than T.rex.

Dinosaurs! is filled with giant glorious illustrations -- over 75 paintings in all. Created by the world's artists, they capture scientists' latest way of looking at dinosaurs as fast, active, and often deadly creatures. Dinosaurs! also features art and information about new and recent discoveries from China, Africa, and South America. Details on each dinosaur family, such as the period and area in which it lived, eating habits, peculiar attributes, a pronunciation guide to all the names, plus a listing of the best places to find out more about dinosaurs on the World Wide Web are also included. Dinosaurs! is divided into easily identifiable sections. Whether you are interested in seeing the largest dinosaurs that ever lived, the fastest, or the most deadly hunters, you can turn right to your favorite monsters from the Mesozoic.Amazon.com Review
Troodon. Suchomimus. Carcharodontosaurus. No, these are notrare diseases but rather the names of just a few of the fantasticcreatures called dinosaurs that roamed the earth hundreds of millions of years ago. This oversized, full-color picture book approaches thesubject with a flair. Artists from around the world paintedover 75 illustrations of these diverse creatures, sometimes offering varyingperspectives on what the dinosaurs might have looked like. Each paintingpresents the very latest scientific views on their appearance, but the text emphasizes that no one knows for sure what they looked like, beyond what can bepieced together from fossils. Dinosaurs may even have been brightlycolored, like their relatives, lizards and birds.

Authors Howard Zimmerman and George Olshevsky chose to divide the bookaccording to dinosaur size and speed, eating habits, and appearance.Scientifically accurate and up-to-date, the text provides the kind ofinformation dinosaur fans really want to know. Discover the strangestlooking dinosaurs (including Therizinosaurus, with itstwo-and-a-half-foot-long curved claws and broad-billed toothless beak),the largest (at up to 170 feet tall, the "earthshaking lizard" Seismosaurus is aptly named), and the deadliest (the smart, speedy,saw-toothed Velociraptor was one dinosaur youwouldn't want to meet in a dark alley). This book has 'em all, from theTriassic to the Jurassic to the Cretaceous periods. (Ages 7 and older)--Emilie Coulter ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Have for All Junior Paleantologists!
I bought this book as a Christmas gift and was only able to give it a quick once-through before wrapping, but it is really beautifully illustrated, colorful and the narrative is informative. It presents many of the less commonly discussed and more unusual dinosaurs. I believe it's suitable for younger children, as well as older ones up to about age eight or 10. Personally, as an adult, I wouldn't mind adding it to my own library, just for the beautiful illustrations. I loved dinosaurs when I was five and six, but had to learn their names from my collection of plastic dinosaur figurines that had the names imprinted on the bottom. We didn't have books like this to learn from when I was a kid long, long ago. If your little one loves dinos, this book will be a valuable reference added to their collection of dino data!

5-0 out of 5 stars My kid loves this book...
Great book for ages 4-9 if your kid loves dinosaurs.Be careful with the pages though, this is a paperback and the pages will rip easily if a2yr old gets a hold of this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Story!
I read this book to my nephews for years when they went through their dinosaur obsession stage. Now my son is four and on the same stage...dreaming about dinosaurs, talking about them day and night. The book captures the fascination that children have with dinosaurs. It's funny and creative and bound to become a classic.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaurs fall flat
We picked up "If the dinosaurs came back" because of its beautiful and clear-cut illustrations. The visual impact is very enjoyable.
However, the book falls short on its contents. "If dinosaurs came back" - yes, what if they did? In this book, their return would be very tame indeed. Dinosaurs could become buses, we learn, dinosaurs could be used as ladders, they could do timberwork in wooded areas, or people could own them like pets and take them for a stroll on a leash. But where is the dinosaur essence here? Where is the rampage, the nutsized brain, the carnivorous jaws, the giantic appetite? If dinosaurs came back, oh what happy mayhem it could be! But in this book the famed old lizards display about as much characteristics as a forgotten chair on a street corner.
Verdict: Too infantile - even for the young set (ages 3 and up). But nice pictures.

4-0 out of 5 stars Another good book
We also used this book for our dino unit study. Very cute idea of what life would be like if dinosaurs were still alive.

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent book for little dinosaur lovers--nothing special
For a dinosaur-loving kid (and I was one), this book should work nicely. It's got--you guessed it--heaps of dinosaurs.Plus, in this book the dinosaurs are very friendly: they make nice pets and people helpers. They become fully integrated into human society. That, for a dino-kid, is a great fantasy. However the art is quite mediocre, and the book has few of those curiosities that make a great kids' book.Instead, this is a rather unimaginative take on the dinosaurs' return.A must only for the hard-core dino-kid.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great dinosaur book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Triceratops is Tops!
This is another impressive adventure book in the Dinosaur Cove series.

It is loaded with fun facts, risks, and it has interesting characters.

Can you imagine getting attacked by huge cockroaches? What would it be like to have giant bug bites?

I am ten years old and going into fifth grade.I would recommend this series to boys and girls my age.It is not too long or too short and there are about 6 chapters.

Read to find out what happens when Tom and Jamie meet the Triceratops.Go on an exciting expedition when you read this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Berenstain Bears at their Finest
My kid loves this book; it is full of adventure, rhymes and beautiful color illustrations.

In this tale, we join the bears as they investigate a missing dinosaur bone from a popular exhibit. The tale is made extra thrilling as the museum is going to open soon and people are lined up outside. What happened to the bone is hilarious and entertaining.

This is a great book.I remembered it from MY childhood, and my daughter (2) loves it!This is an easier B-bear book for smaller kids to listen to, as it rhymes and is a very simple plot.Basically, a dinosaur bone disappears from the bear museum and the bears (3) search for it."There's no case too hard, no case too tough, for the bear detectives and their hound dog Snuff!"

The books that the Berenstains wrote for Beginner Books (which Dr. Seuss edited) are very different and, to me, much better than the stuff they've been cranking out since. They use much simpler vocabulary and shorter sentences, and are written in rhyme, which really helps hold my son's attention. The stories, too, are simpler, funnier and just plain more entertaining. 5-0 out of 5 stars Charming story
This first book of Harry and the Bucket full of dinosaurs was really cute. He found a box of dinosaurs in the attic. He cleaned them and repaired them. He was moved to research the names of each dinosaur. He took very good care of them and they went everywhere with him. One day on an exciting trip with his grandma on a train he forgot them and they were left behind on the train. His gran bought him a video to take their place. But that couldn't replace them.He is inconsolable. Finally Gran takes him to the train station to check the lost and found. Harry has to prove they are his by naming them, which he does. His dinosaurs are happy to see him and they whisper to him "You are definitely our Harry, definitely!"

We got two more of the series but they didn't have the same charm. It could be they are for younger kids. My boy is 4. They were ok but never his favorites.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
This book and the series of books has been a favorite in our house for a few years now. This is my favorite of the series, it explains how Harry becomes friends with his dinosaurs and it is a really sweet story. My son carried around a bucketful of plastic dinosaurs for about a year, and he slept with them and bathes them just like in the book. The hardcover copy makes a great gift too :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
This book is about a little boy who finds a box full of old toy dinosaurs in the attic. He carefully fixes and cleans them, puts them in a bucket, and then carries them with him wherever he goes.He knows all of their names, and he is the only one who knows that they have their own personalities. When he leaves them on a train one day, his nan tries to replace them with a video, but that won't do.He and his mother eventually find them in the lost property office at the train station, and he gets them back when he names them all.

My son just got this book as a present for his 4th birthday. He absolutely loves it and asks me to read it every day.He relates to Harry better than any other character he's read about so far, because he carries around a bucketful of cars with him wherever he goes. After we read the part where Harry's dinosaurs tell him he is definitely their Harry, he told me, "Mommy, my cars tell me the same thing."Harry is a character any little one who loves a toy can relate to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love the book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Created a love of reading in my child!
This series made my child love to read!!!!My daughter loves dinosaurs and all animals for that matter but has NEVER loved books. If you handed her a chapter book she would cry and scream to avoid reading it. Yes, thats how much she hated reading and I'm not putting it lightly. Then I came upon the Dinosaur Cove series and bought the first two books. They went unread for a few weeks as she was reluctant to even look at them. Then I decided to read the first two chapters to her and instantly she was hooked!!! The books are not only a fun reading adventure for your child but have fantastic illustrations that add to the entertainment. Now my daughter and I read together every night and she loves it! There is no forcing her anymore, she is now waving the books in my face telling me to hurry up. We have zipped through half the series now and I just bought another four books. I highly recommend these books for any child who loves dinosaurs.

4-0 out of 5 stars Attack of the T-Rex
Attack of the Tyrannosaurus is an easy read suited for children who love adventure and dinosaurs. There are just enough illustrations to help assist a child in painting a complete picture of the events. The maps found in the beginning and end help Dinosaur Cove come alive. This book is suitable for children as young as kindergarten (as a read aloud), but most suitable as an independent read for a second grader.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dumb, No meaning to the book
What a dumb book! I hate it! I rented this book at the library. And I took it home to bookclub. But when I read it I hated it! I even spent almost all day there looking for this book to! So maybe your boy would like it at least. But I donot think so. If my child (Girl) did not like it then your kids will not like it! Do not spend your money all on this book! Get a better book instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful books!
We have now done all the dot to dots: Machines, Space, Nature, Seashore, Dinosaurs etc. My son is 4 y.o and what makes these books so special is the fact it is not just a dot to dot, it's education that goes beyond numbers, you actually learn about a tundra, an ox eye daisy, a shaggy coated musk ox etc, and if your child likes to color, you can color what you discovered. We need more... Usbourn, please create more of these, PLEASE!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great activities!
There are so many dot-to-dots in this book!My almost 6 yr old son absolutely loves it. He doesn't even realize that when he makes a dinosaur, he is practicing counting! Each page has a little info on the dinosaurs too. this book was better than i thought it would be and the price was great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaur Dot to Dot
I purchased this dot to dot book to help my 5yr old expand on his recognition and learning of numbers. He enjoys dot to dot books.

5-0 out of 5 stars found a great way to re-use these
Our almost 6 year old boy will go through these really quickly (and he has 2 younger brothers who will like them sometime) so I cut the pages out of this book and slipped them inside Mead's sheet protectors for 3-ring binders. He completes the puzzles with overhead markers and then when he is done (or makes a mistake) we wipe it off with a wet cloth and it is like new again! He likes mazes, too, so I plan to do the same with the Usborne maze books.

Product Description
A world-renowned paleontologist reveals groundbreaking science that trumps science fiction: how to grow a living dinosaur

Over a decade after Jurassic Park, Jack Horner and his colleagues in molecular biology labs are in the process of building the technology to create a real dinosaur.

Based on new research in evolutionary developmental biology on how a few select cells grow to create arms, legs, eyes, and brains that function together, Jack Horner takes the science a step further in a plan to "reverse evolution" and reveals the awesome, even frightening, power being acquired to recreate the prehistoric past. The key is the dinosaur's genetic code that lives on in modern birds- even chickens. From cutting-edge biology labs to field digs underneath the Montana sun, How to Build a Dinosaur explains and enlightens an awesome new science.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fresh take on science!!!!
I am a social scientist, but not one that thinks we do "hard" science. So, I bought this book with the intention of seeing how other people do science, and I was not let down. Others are doing science in a way that is exciting and fun. That is what you are a witness to when you read this book. It offers an insight into new ways of conducting research into why dinosaurs evolved into birds, but by using a different approach then before. This is exciting stuff. The author offers a justification for this approach that does not rely upon jargon to do it either, which means we all can what it being discussed in this book. Get it and enjoy!

3-0 out of 5 stars Working to extract an interesting thesis
As others have said, the concept of the book is thrilling--a dinosaur created with evo-devo? Cool doesn't begin to cover it.

Unfortunately, Horner seems to encounter several problems while expounding this thesis. 1) He doesn't seem to be able to control his subject matter, and so he goes on wildly odd digressions--no one really cares what kind of college bars are near his paleontological site. 2) I suspect he really wanted to write a 5,000 word "MAKE A CHICKEN INTO A DINOSAUR" entreaty, and that a lot of the rest of the text is fluff.

So--skim the fluff. The paleontology and evo-devo stuff is cool, though not as in-depth as I'd have preferred.

As a side note, it seems odd that Horner is so careful to include creationist-friendly material in the book. Surely the subject of whether or not science and religion are non-overlapping magisteria is not within the purview of his thesis?

1-0 out of 5 stars Should have been a magazine article.
Remove all of the extraneous religion, history and biographical text and you have the makings of a decent magazine article with some intriguing ideas. It was surprising since I've thoroughly enjoyed many of Horner's other books.

4-0 out of 5 stars For five chapters, science writing at its best
The first 5 chapters of this book exemplify science writing at its best. There is the personal, but it always relates to the science, and is interesting besides. The chapters explain what we believe we know about dinosaurs and their evolution, the kinds of evidence, even what it is like collecting fossils; the chapters also discuss how a study of embryo development can cast light on evolution. Most amazing to me (p.108) is that there is sufficient collagen protein preserved in some dinosaur fossils that you can inject them into a rabbit, thereby generate antibodies, and these antibodies recognize the corresponding chicken protein.

The last two chapters are not at the same level.Horner is interested in promoting a grand experiment: modifying embryonic chicken development so that you create a creature with the features belonging to the chicken's non-avian dinosaur ancestors. There is a lot of developmental biology which must first be mastered to accomplish this. However, at the level of detail that Horner writes, there is just not enough to say to adequately fill the 50 pages devoted to the subject. As explained I couldn't fully appreciate the concept of symmetry, and Horner did not want to go into such topics as just how staining works in tracing embryo development.

Horner himself is a delightful man, careful to give credit where it is due, willing to tell some anecdotes which do not paint him in the best light, and willing to spend $40,000 of his own money to sponsor research he believes in!However, sometimes he seems to be implicitly assuming that it is only the control genes which mutate, so that just by modifying their signals you can creat a viable creature with dinosaur characteristics.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hello, I am a T-Rex....
What happens when Paleontology converges with Molecular Biology? Advances in molecular biology now allows us to make changes to the genetic code - the 'language of life'.Paleontology gives us glimpses of extinct animals. The authors of this book challenges the reader to consider the possibility of changing the genome of an existing embryo say that of a chicken and enticing it to 'remember' its past and develop characteristics of its ancestors - such as teeth, tail etc.And since birds are descendent from Dinosaurs, theoretically you can now go back in time step by step and slowly but surely create a Dinosaur.

It is an intriguing concept and the authors do an excellent job of asking the right questions - can we do it? should we do it? what are the benefits? What are the disadvantages? The book also covers the basic science very well and in simple terms explains the principles involved.

The title of the book is slightly misleading since we are far away from actually being able to create a Dinosaur. Many challenges still remain but the possibility of being able to do this in the next 10 to 20 years is very real. More importantly the book will give the reader a better idea of the various possibilities, that a proper understanding of the genetic code will provide humanity. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaur Dinosaur.. great addition to kids library
This book was a great hit with my 2 year old.He loves Dinosaurs and we really enjoyed another of Kevin Lewis's book- "My Truck is Stuck", so we thought we'd buy this and give it a try.He loves it and has most of the book memorized.I would definitely recommend this book, as well as "My Truck is Stuck" for any young reader.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Dinosaur, Dinosaur" is THE favorite in our house!
Both my kids ADORE this book. My daughter (3.5)LOVES Dinosaurs and this is a really fun book that uses Dinosaurs to teach young children about every day routines. It has really helped us with her understanding that there's some things she NEEDS to do every day, like brushing her teeth after she eats, or that taking a bath comes after dinner, and then it's time to go to bed.

We've had this book for about 9 months now and have read it EVERY day, TWICE a day since the day we got it... and you know what? I'm not sick of it!It's actually really fun to read, and the illustrations are GREAT.

My son (18 months) loves this book too, the "beat" of the rhymes is really fun and he just laughs and laughs.

We will be purchasing ANOTHER copy of this book soon, as ours is getting a bit worn from all the love it's gotten. We are also going to get a copy to donate to my daughter's preschool.

We hope you all enjoy it as much as we do!

5-0 out of 5 stars really fun book, love it!
My 4 year old loves it... he can relate every thing in the book to a day in his life.. and we both love the rhyming words! He is not into dinosaurs, but it doesn't bother him, he views the dino like another boy. My 2 year old somewhat follows along, looking more at the pictures than listening to me. ... Read more

Product Description
A colorful first dinosaur book full of fierce hunters, giant meat eaters, slow leaf eaters, and speedy runners.

DK proudly reintroduces 10 favorite board books from the beloved My First series, all with beautifully redesigned covers for a fresh new look. Filled with full-color photographs and large, easy-to-read text, My First Board Books provide children with an excellent platform for early learning. A variety of first concepts, such as colors, numbers, letters, and more are introduced in a fun, informative way to help children build the vocabulary and basic language skills that form the foundation of learning.Amazon.com Review
Giant meat eaters, speedy runners, flying reptiles, head-frilled, bony-plated, club-tailed behemoths... welcome to the wild world of dinosaurs, as seen through DK's photographic eye. Very young children will be enthralled by the vivid, close-up photos of dinosaur replicas in this fascinating addition to the My First board book series (My First Farm Board Book, My First Truck Board Book, etc.). The chunky little volume uses two-page spreads to showcase different types of prehistoric creatures (divided into age-appropriate categories like "Leaf-eaters," "Small dinosaurs," "Big dinosaurs"). Selected individuals (Dimorphodon, Elasmosaurus, and the ubiquitous "Mighty T-rex") are featured on their own spreads, with teeth, legs, tails, and eyes labeled. The multisyllabic names of dinosaurs will be over the heads of most toddling readers, but at the very least, they'll enjoy hearing their grownup reading partners attempt to pronounce them. This is a terrific introduction to a subject that sooner or later intrigues almost all children. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter ... Read more

bought this to replace a library book my kid left out in the rain.amazon is great for that kind of service.

5-0 out of 5 stars If your kids love dinosaurs ...
If your kids love dinosaurs, then this book is perfect. My son loves dinosaurs and when I got him this book, he enjoyed it even more since he can now identify his toys within the book. It was a great way to teach him how to match and compare each of the dinosaurs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Going to have to buy a second one!
I bought this book for my daughter when she was two, and it has been her favorite ever since. Now that she's four (and I've re-glued the spine several times), I will have to buy another. I think it's still going to be her favorite for quite a while. It's small size is so handy we take it everywhere!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but some favorites missing
My two-year-old daughter loves this book, though it's not as much a favorite as others in this series (esp. animals and pets). The pictures have been no problem, and she's learning some of the names. My only complaint is that some of the better known dinosaurs aren't in here (such as the apatosaurus or ankylosaurus.)

4-0 out of 5 stars Our 27-mo. old daughter and we like it a lot
I purchased this for our daughter when she decided that she loved dinosaurs.(We also got a couple sets of the Animal Safari "toob" and boxed dinosaurs for her to play with, and she loves those, too, but they might be too much of a choking risk if your child puts a lot in his/her mouth or plays with them unsupervised.)We're very careful about what we give her, and what we let her see (BabySongs videos or The Wiggles is pretty much the extent of her viewing) or read, and we actually like the depth and breadth of the book.Neither our daughter nor we find the pictures scary. We like it as well as the others we have from the series. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Silly and Funny
This is a great 1st chapter book for young children. In each chapter, the main characters, Detective Dinosaur and Officer Pterodactyl, solve a mystery. The mysteries are often silly, but they are always fun.For example, in one chapter, Detective Dinosaur is following a noise in the fog and becomes lost himself. He begins singing to calm his nerves, and sings so loudly that Officer Pterodactyl easily finds him!In another chapter, they find a lost kitten and put signs up.But, no one claims the kitten. In the end they decide that the kitten is both lost and found, since it was lost, but they found it.After that, Cadet Kitten goes along on their expeditions. My son, 5, read this book to me (one chapter per night) and LOVED it.He laughed out loud at least once per chapter.I highly recommend this book for K-2 readers.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book
Patrick is a boy with a vivid imagination. While at the zoo his brother talks about how much bigger dinosaurs were than anything at the zoo. Patrick sees the dinosaurs his brother describes. They are attacking the alligators at the zoo. They are waiting at the stop light on the road home. A T Rexis following them home. He is worried about just how large they are. Can it reach the second floor? He is afraid. Once at home his brother reminds him that there are no more dinosaurs. Relief.

It is a great concept that builds a little tension thru the story. This makes it rather exciting. I can read it with that kind of scary voice. Then when we remember that dinos are extinct , whew!

This is a classic book. Every kid should have a copy. I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very imaginative

4-0 out of 5 stars My 2 1/2 year old son loves this book
This was my son's favorite book out of a large stack we just returned to the library. I'm thrilled I just found it at a consignment sale cause he was fascinated by the pictures and the actions of the dinosaurs. There were a couple nights reading it that we had to be more sing-songy through parts of the book, but he's not yet three so it's to be expected. The imaginative play is great, as is the brotherly relationship.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaur Bones by Bob Barner

This children's book, "Dinosaur Bones" by Bob Barner,is great for children ages 18 mos. to 3 years. I sent this along with other books to my grandson for his 2nd birthday, and he LOVED it! The pictures are large and the "story" not too long so as to get boring. Alex loves to make dino noises along with each page! This Grandma is very pleased with this pick, as she knows you and your little one will be, too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaur Bones
This is a wonderful book for 2 to 4 year olds. My 2 year old daughter is in love with all things "dinosaur" right now. After viewing the video several times, she was ecstatic when she saw the book. The illustrations arelarge and invivid colors. The writing and lettering are clear and easy for the young emerging reader. Parents and young aspiring archaeologists will enjoy reading about the history of dinosaurs, in the light-hearted, humorous, and rhythmic Bob Barner style. Hopefully, Scholastic Booksreleases the dvd soon along with Dem Bones, which are only viewable on cable "on demand." I also recommend Bob Barner's Dem Bones.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic But Expensive
This is a fantastic book, but it is a bit costly.I used it for a lesson for my three year olds in their preschool room, and they were enthralled. What I like most is that it can serve two purposes. The brief and humorous poem is perfect for three year olds. The rest of the information written on the bottom of the page is appropriate for older children. So this book is written for children of all ages (even me!).The illustrations are the bomb!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for lots of ages!
I have two sons who are 2 and 7-1/2 -- it's hard to find a book both of them like at the same time. They both love Dinosaur Bones! The younger one loves the pictures and simple rhymes, and the older one loves reading them to him.But there is also the smaller print on each page containing more advanced information, which is fun to read to my older son when we are one-on-one.We've checked this book out of the library a half-dozen times, and keep renewing it until they won't let us anymore. So I'm finally going to buy it!!! ... Dinosaur Bob and His Adventures with the Family Lazardo (Reading Rainbow Book)This is a quirky and funny title about life with a pet dinosaur (who doesn't dream of this at some point). What will keep you coming back to this title again and again is the tremendous and beautifully-modeled drawings full of the most whimsical detail.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaur Bob Rocks!
This is one of the best kid's picture books ever - my children loved all of Joyce's books - but Bob, Santa Calls and Meet the Robinsons are their favorites - even now at ages 18 and 22, they both agree that Bob Rocks! We have now bought William Joyce's books for the next generation of kids in our family.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dinosaur Bob
The book Dinosaur Bob is a great book for many reasons. It is a great book because it is funny. I think it is funny because it is about a family on vacation and they stumble upon a dinosaur and the parents actually say the family can keep the dinosaur as a pet. They name the dinosaur Bob. When the family gets back home everything is going well until Bob becomes too wild and the police are going to send them back to the Safari where he came from. Then their dad has an idea to get him back and everyone is happy again. Dinosaur Bob is great book to read because you might like dinosaurs and wish you had one of your own. I would recommend this book to any age because I am a fifth grader and I love this book and you will too.
