We received a copy of this book back in 2001 when my mom died of bladder cancer. It was given to us by a group known as Fernside. They help children deal with grieve and work closely with Hospice of Cincinnati. When my cousin's son was invovled in a car accident that killed his grandma, I searched for this book and found it on Amazon.com.I purchased it and sent it to her to help her son through this horrible ordeal. She was very greatful for this book as it helped not only her son but also herself in dealing with the loss of her mother.

I read on some message board that this was a good book for explaining death to a preschooler. It was not enough for my 3 1/2 year old to understand that her Grandmother has passed away.It also did not keep her attention.

Filled with the beloved prehistoric humor that made How Do Dinosaurs a bestselling series, Jane Yolen and Mark Teague present a new lift-the-flap format to answer the age old question, once and for all, How Do Dinosaurs Laugh Out Loud?Young readers will love to read this uproarious book again and again!

4-0 out of 5 stars Where do you go for a belly full of laughs?
They're back!! The colorful clatter of Jane Yolen's beloved dinosaurs have stomped across the pages of her latest addition to her classic //How Do Dinosaurs...// series. This time the dinosaurs require a little "hands-on" help from their young audience by providing lift-the-flap punch lines. These favorite reptiles are bowled over in laughter with their own silliness and the reader participation can be quite as humorous.

This edition is formatted in a sturdy board book style, strong enough to keep the flaps and pages intact through many readings (it is sure to be a favorite).

From Allosaurus to Tsintaosaurus, each dinosaur is given their very own page and personality, each illustration depicted through vibrant colors, detailed background and easy to follow narrative.

Each of the previous //How Do Dinosaurs...// books could easily be enjoyed from a young toddler to elementary age, however, this addition is geared for the older reader (perhaps age five and up), as it may be a little advanced for the attention span of the younger ones. That being stated, a child of any age--that's you too, Mom and Dad-- can appreciate the richness and familiarity of these scaly friends for days to come.

3-0 out of 5 stars not the home run i hoped for!
My daughter loved the previous books in the series (Go to Bed, Go to School, Go to the Doctor, and [whatever the 4th book is]).

That was two years ago, age ~4.

She's now 6 and she only gave this one (and the Cats & Dogs ones) a cursory read-through, and now they're collecting dust on the shelf...I liked the art , so I'm kinda bummed out!

3-0 out of 5 stars A Good Read for How Does A Dinosaur Fans
My kids love the How Does A Dinosaur books. This new release is a lift the flap, laugh out loud, joke book. Each page has a fun joke and when the flap is lifted, the answer is revealed. Some jokes were a little over my kid's head, but for the most part they understood them and laughed out. This is a good read and I would recommend this book to all How Do Dinosaur fans. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I Love this Series!
I bought about 4 of the books in this series for my nephew for Christmas. The illustrations are fantastic and the stories are clever. This one is his favorite, but that changes on a weekly basis.I personally thought all of them were cute, but my favorite one to read to his is "How Does a Dinosaur Say I Love You".

4-0 out of 5 stars colorful
How do dinosaurs go to the bank and cash big checks?By writing books like this.Total winner, though not as good as How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok book
It doesn't flow as well as the others, and like others stated, you do have to keep stopping in the middle of the rhyme to help the child find the color they are talking about. Its ok, still cute.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great pictures, great stories!
Well-loved books by both parents and baby!Stories have great rhythm and the illustrations are beautiful. These stories were the ONLY thing that would calm our baby during a 16-hour car ride!Highly recommended.

3-0 out of 5 stars Kind of a mystery with how dinosaurs learn their colors from this book
This wouldn't be my first choice to teach a child colors even if that child was a dinosaur fanatic. The pictures of the colored items are small. The prose isn't very catchy and some of it doesn't seem to make sense even for a board book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a fun fantasy!
Every child finds going on errands gets a bit tedious, especially if there are several stops. Now what if each of those stops resulted in the child receiving a dinosaur?Mom might be encouraged to go a bit faster and the child would want to stop at more places.

When Dinosaurs Came with Everything (Junior Library Guild Selection) will stimulate your child's imagination. What fun it would be if this really happened.I remember someone saying that their child was heartbroken when he found out dinosaurs were extinct. This book might not help in that situation! My grandson is fascinated with dinosaurs which is why I chose this one for him.It is a fun book for the adult reading it as well, even if they might stumble over some of the names of the dinosaurs!

5-0 out of 5 stars An awesome new children's book - moms will see themselves
What a great new children's story!I couldn't help but chuckled as I saw myself, on those days when my kids keep getting into things that are so cool and fun for them, but messy, or noisy, or any of the other things that make moms sometimes say "not today".The expressions on the mom's face in this story are priceless, as is that moment when she looks up, sees her child having a great day, and realizes that she could be having fun with him, instead of being exasperated by his big, noisy, crazy new companions.I loved it!

5-0 out of 5 stars 4 year old grandson loves this story
I got this book from the library twice and we would read it every day, so I bought the book. The story begins with a typical day for a boy and his mother but becomes anything but typical. The story is unique, the characters in the story 'true to life', and the book illustrates that a family can adapt to unusual circumstances.Well illustrated... the pictures hold the interest of my 2 year-old grandson, although I am not sure he understands the story.Fun story for kids and adults.Be prepared to name the dinosaurs!

How DOES a dinosaur love its cat? Jane Yolen and Mark Teague have added another bestseller to their //How Do Dinosaurs...// series with //How Do Dinosaurs Love Their Cats?// in a companion board book. This is a shorter version than the original book, but the story is just as endearing and entertaining. Children, as young as two and as old as me, won't be able to wait for naptime to hear this tale of dinosaurs and their furry feline pets. With colorful and descriptive illustrations there are plenty of opportunities to broaden little ones' imaginations and with sturdy pages durable enough to withstand trips to the potty and sticky fingers you can encourage your little reader to carry this portable hardback. 3-0 out of 5 stars Love the dinosaurs and their attitudes - as always!
As expected the illustrations are the real winner in How Do Dinosaurs Love Their Cats? Each dino accurately and humorously expresses every child's mood and sentiment with regard to pets - from a lack of desire to treat a kitty nicely to an aversion to stinky chores to the real love and care of a cat.Jane Yolen's narration rhymes and captures those sentiments poignantly. This is a great book for the younger ones (ages 4-5) but older kiddos (ages 6-8) will relate and be amused.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love It :)
My daughter received "How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?" as a gift on her 1st birthday, and instantly fell in love with it. I decided then to give another book a try, and purchased "How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You?" and "How Do Dinosaurs Clean Their Rooms?" four months later for Christmas and again, she just fell in love with them! So today, after taking her to get a couple of shots, we headed over to Barnes and Noble to look around at books, and as soon as I saw this, I grabbed it right up because I had been WAITING for this to come out and was so pleased to see it there. Needless to say, my daughter was once again, very happy. I definitely recommend these to mom's and dad's out there because these books are very fun, (for any age, really) and they help give young ones good ideas about how to behave well. I plan on buying the rest of these books to add to her collection. ... Read more

What if a dinosaur catches the flu?Does he whimper and whine between each "At-choo"?Does he drop dirty tissues all over the floor?Does he fling his medicine out of the door?Just like kids, little dinosaurs hate being sick. And going to the doctor can be pretty scary. How DO dinosaurs get well soon? They drink lots of juice, and they get lots of rest; they're good at the doctor's, 'cause doctors know best.As in their previous book, Yolen and Teague capture children's fears about being sick and put them to rest with playful read-aloud verse and wonderfully amusing pictures.
Amazon.com Review
Following up their bestseller How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?, Caldecott Medal winner Jane Yolen and illustrator Mark Teague have penned this instructive lesson on dinosaur health care. Each double-page spread features one enormous dinosaur looking wan and sniffly but mostly cranky, petulant, ornery, sullen, and disagreeable. The human moms and dads are visibly worried and/or frustrated by their sick dinos behaving badly. Witness the nice lady dragging her gigantic Styracosaurus out of the elevator and across the hall to the doctor's office: "What if a dinosaur goes to the doc? Does he drag all his feet till his mom is in shock?" The look on this mom's face will be familiar to anyone who's ever forcibly moved a child, who seems to have suddenly gained a million pounds, from one place to another. And of course, it turns out that dinosaurs don't misbehave when they're sick: "He drinks lots of juice, and he gets lots of rest. He's good at the doctor's, 'cause doctors know best."

The rhymes are somewhat forced, especially toward the end of the book, but Teague's marvelous paintings are bright and expressive throughout. Each dinosaur is cleverly labeled, and these aren't your run-of-the-mill dinos; dinosaur-obsessed little ones will crow over Parasaurolophus, Euoplocephalus, and Tuojiangosaurus. They'll also learn a little something about how to behave when they're sick. --Jennifer Lindsay ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Glad I bought it!!!!
My sons library started with a gift of "How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight?" at my baby shower. So I started getting him all the other titles as well. He loves the books so much and the pages are so colorful that he just rubs his hands on the pages looking at everything as I read.He has been getting colds lately and when he is just lying there he loves to hear this story "How Do Dinosaurs Get Well Soon?". It helps all little ones feel better teaching them right from wrong. We were both pleased with this purchase. Its a great story for everyone who has a little dinosaur at home!

5-0 out of 5 stars Get well, little dinosaur!
When in comes to boo-boo's, scrapes, cuts, or illnesses, little children can often be the worst and the most dramatic patients. The littlest cut is on par with the gargantuan loss of blood produced from a lost limb. Sicknesses are cause enough for the world to stop turning. And sometimes, a kiss from Mommy just doesn't fully fix things. Trouble is, they want to get better, but seem to want to prolong the agony (for everybody!) as long as possible.

This addition to Jane Yolen's & Mark Yeague's series on How Do Dinosaurs Do Things will strike a chord with the most exasperated parent who gets to care for a hurt or sick child. The main protagonists in this case are sick and ailing dinosaurs who model for us all sorts of behaviors exhibited by our children. As with the other books in the series, the first half of the book focuses on the not-so-helpful behaviors. With wonderfully fun and silly rhymes, each turn of the page presents a new scenario, a different sick dinosaur, and a new question of whether or not a dinosaur would really act this way. "What if a dinosaur catches the flu? Does he whimper and whine in between each ATCHOO?" The caring and oh-so-patient parents look on as their dino-children put on the dramatic fireworks. In one picture, a dinosaur wails with the seeming dramatic flair of an operatic actor on stage with one hand over his chest, the other flung out, and head thrown back in agony. A particularly funny scene asks, "Does he scream? Is he mean? Does he run off and hide?" and depicts the dinosaur sitting in a doctor's waiting room, "hiding" behind a magazine while the puzzled doctor appears to be asking the nurse where his next patient ran off to.

The second half of the book answers the first with a resounding "No!" to all the first questions. Instead, dinosaurs follow doctor's orders "'cause doctors know best," take their medicine without complaints, and gets lots of rest. Anyone having been terrified by the velociraptors of Jurassic Park has obviously never seen one wiping his nose gently with a tissue while being tucked into bed my his mommy. These are the behaviors that are desired by our children and the second-half dinosaurs model them beautifully and are even seen to be improving somewhat by the end of the book.

Also included is the name of the dinosaur hidden somewhere in each picture. This is perhaps the best thing the authors could have done with the names because it doesn't make knowing the names a necessity, but at the same time adds a bit of fun for older children in trying to find them. At this point, my four-year old isn't at all interested in their names, but simply calls each one a dinosaur.

As with the other books in the series, the show-stealer is definitely the illustrations by Mark Teague. He captures the terrible "sufferings" of the dinosaurs as well as the caring parents with such humor, silliness and exquisite detail that will make readers both young and old laugh out loud.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the others
My 3 year old daughter received this for her birthday because she loves "How do Dinosaurs say good night" and "How do Dinosaurs go to school", but she did not love this book. The writing and the story line is simply not as well written as the other "how do dinosaurs..." book. We were disappointed and so was my daughter.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great visuals, mediocre writing
My two-and-half-year-old daughter loves these "How-To" dinosaur books. I bought How Do Dinosaurs Go To School? first, which she was hooked on and triggered me to buy this one, which she equally loves. She can memorize and articulate the 10 dinosaurs names provided in the book, just as she could with the other dinosaur book, which also introduces 10 types of dinosaurs. However, while the illustrations are highly entertaining to a toddler, the language, like that in the other book, is quite lackluster. It would be ideal if the book also shed literary value and were enjoyable to read aloud to a child as well.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too judgmental
I borrowed this book from the library because my daughter loves Sandra Boynton's books. However, this book makes judgments on what is good (painting neatly) and bad (painting messily), and who is cute and who is not cute. I don't think such labels are appropriate to teach to young children. Being messy is not always bad. It can be a valuable learning experience. And you certainly don't need to teach children to judge people (or dinosaurs) by their looks. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best dino books ever
I really love this book!!!! Its content its great and very complete. It covers every aspect about dinosaurs that one could possibly imagine. It has itformation about fosilisation, about how dinosaurs are mounted on museums, about the origins of dinosaurs, about every group of dinosaurs, about life in the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretacious, there extintion and many more aspects. As the name says is very complete. I really like the way that they presented every known group of mesozoic dinosaurs instead of presinting just some dinosaurs generes and giving information about each one, because by presenting the larger familly one can get a better and more extensive information about how the members of that group where, acted and how related where them to other dinosaurs groups. But if that was not enough there are also individual chapters about what is known about dinosaur behavior, biology and reproduction. However, in each chapter you are going to find a few specif dinosaur meassuramentes, but that its also covered in the book; since at the back there is a list of every dinosaur genera discovered at the time that the book was written and every genera has its size, weight, where its fossils where discovered and a specific fact. Other great aspect of this book is its art, the pictures by Luis Rey are really beautiful and original. And also the way it was written by Thom Holtz is outstanding, allways giving a very good and easy to understand explanations using familiar words and it never gets boring. The author of this book Dr. Thomas Holtz is one of the most famous paleontology experts in the world, but also this book has many articles written by many other top paleontologists. But since this book was published in 2007 there is some out of date information; however the book itself even gives a link where one can get the updated info. So, in conclusion this book is a must have for any or prehistoric life or dinosaur fan; its great for adults since its full of content and its great for kids also since its very easy to understand.

5-0 out of 5 stars The title is accurate in every way, I assure you.
Let's break it down.

1) "DINOSAURS" - while this text talks about other Mesozoic critters, "Dinosaurs" pretty much sums up the core of the book.

2)"The Most Complete, Up-to-Date Encyclopedia" - written in 2006, published in 2007, this book contains the most accurate information on dinosaur paleontology that the time had to offer.Want more up to date information?Dr. Holtz maintains a website ([...]) that he lists in the text which he is constantly updating with new information. So if something is not "up-to-date" in the book, you can bet it's been updated on the website.

3)"for Dinosaur Lovers of All Ages" - I'm seeing that a lot of people are giving the book a bad review because it was "too technical" for their five year old, or because they don't like Luis V. Rey's feathered non-avian dinosaurs. But your five year old doesn't have to read the book.Perhaps you could sit with them and read it.Maybe they just like looking at the vivid, colorful illustrations. And for those who don't like the illustrations (FACT: the evidence for non-scale skin structures homologous to feathers in several dinosaur groups is growing, so there is nothing wrong with a feathered deinonychosaur) you can't say that the information is lacking. So really, it is a book for "all ages". Get it for your five year old today, read with them, let them enjoy the photos, and they'll be able to read it themselves as they get older.I'm pushing 30 years old, and I find this book to be an extremely valuable resource, and a pleasure to read. And my friend's two year old son has no complaints either.I wish it had been published when I was younger!

5-0 out of 5 stars A very good book on dinosaurs!
I am pleased with the overall presentation of this book. I bought this for my 5-year old daughter because it says it is a book for all ages. And she is thrilled with the pictures in this book. I am also a dinosaur enthusiast, and I find the information on this book very good. I also like the complete list of the dinosaur genera at the end of the book. A wonderful book!

2-0 out of 5 stars disappointed
While the information is in this book is highly abundant, and of course, interesting; I was just disappointed that 99% of the pics in this book were all illustrations. I was SO hoping for photos of actual fossils or dig sites but instead got ONE illustrator's version of what the dinos looked. Even the skeletons were drawings! And I didn't even find the illustrations to be all that GREAT!

I had gotten my 3 yr old a child's version of a dino encyclopedia and I loved it for its photos (and its very detailed illustrations) and was hoping that this was more of the same. I just find it more interesting to see a real image and it doesn't limit your imagination as much. That's my opinion. So while my tot's book made me hungrier for more info, this book is going to just stare at me on the bookshelf until I find that desire to read it.

4-0 out of 5 stars An up-to-date easy-to-use extravagant inside collection of meticulously researchedinformation reference for the whole family
What i have on my desk or next to my other information family reference books is a encyclopedia strictly dedicated to and for dinophiles and fanatics alike expect that there are few minor problems that other information reference books don't have one of them which is that archaeoptreyx couldn't have hunted small flying winged reptiles(pterodactyls)because they might've been to big in size in comparison to it as a species of feathered bird also the other is that when they would as species of animal grow proportionately larger they forgot to write in text that they would grow bigger size skull head instead of deeper size skull head which is a bit of a misuse in wordsin text nonetheless like i wrote in the title of this review it is still a comprehensive informative easy-to-use updated extravagantcollection of living things from the prehistoric dinosauria past which is something that can only be extractedoutsideintoyoungpeople's lives through a sleek streamlined time machine nothing related to or to do with the Back To The Future trilogy but instead to do with and related to the orignal h.g. wells novel "The Time Machine" ... Product Description
Danny's going to camp––and he's taking the dinosaur! First introduced in 1958 with Danny and the Dinosaur and the recent stars of Happy Birthday, Danny and the Dinosaur, this popular pair is together again in an adventure sure to please beginning readers and happy campers alike.

Children's Choices for 1997 (IRA/CBC)Amazon.com Review
Danny and his pet dinosaur have been delighting children since1958--almost the Jurassic Age to today's preschooler. There's a reasonfor that. To adults, this dinosaur, so different from the scary guysin Spielberg-land, may seem a bit of a wimp, but he, his friend Danny, the kids in their neighborhood, and the reassuring stories of theirsimple adventures, are a gentle introduction to the dinosaur universe.

In fact, as a review copy of this reissue lay on my desk, a verygrown-up 17-year-old wandered over and remarked "Danny and theDinosaur. Cool. I remember him. Those books were rad."

Rad indeed. This time author-illustrator Syd Hoff takes us along asDanny and his unnamed companion go off to sleep-away camp. The big guyfits right in; nobody even minds when he wins a race with a singlestep.

He does his part, though. When the campers go boating, "Thechildren rowed little boats. Danny rowed the dinosaur." When theyget tired on a hike, the whole group and counselor Lana hitch a ridehome on his back.

Nope, it's not much of a story. But from the arrival at camp to thelast goodnight at lights-out, Danny and his dinosaur try new things, help each other out, and generally behave like pals. If a kid and aprehistoric creature can do it, kids know they can, too. (For ages 3and younger) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Danny & The Dinosaur go to camp
This is a fun book, filled with colorful pictures. My kids just love to read it over and over again. Another good one by Syd Hoff.

4-0 out of 5 stars Dany and the dino
This is the third and last book about Danny and the dinosaur. In this book Danny takes the dinosaur with him to summer camp. Of course they have unusual adventures. This book tells about their first day at camp.

The story flows much better than either of the previous two Danny and the dinosaur books, but the story still lacks a certain charm and the plot still feels rather strained. Illustration wise both Danny and the dinosaur look a lot more like they did in the first book. All of the pictures are cute and I find it amazing how expressive a dinosaur's face can be. I do find however, that the way they chose to color in the pictures makes them look rather harsh.

The reason I give this book four stars and not five is that it is still missing some charm that I know this author can provide, because he did so with Sammy the Seal.

5-0 out of 5 stars Charming Addition to Mr. Hoff's Danny & the Dinosaur Series
Danny's big Jurassaic age pal is back for another adventure.Dannyreturns to the museum and takes his friend the dinosaur to summer campwhere they experience a typical day in the life of a camper. Mr. Hoff's hashit his mark again.Danny and the dinosaur go to camp offers a clear andsimple presentation of the kinds of values we should all strive for.Thedinosaur potentially a creature of fear, is gentle, noble and considerate.Values such as acceptance of those unlike ourselves, sharing, participation and friendship are expressed with simple eloquence in both word and illustration. While meant for early readers, the story isengaging for all ages.

This book may also help allay the fear ofdetachment experienced by many children prior to attending their firstsummer in camp. ... Read more

Product Description
Features more than 100 flavor-packed recipes from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, the perennially popular, Syracuse-based, honky-tonk rib joint.

The renowned Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is beloved by bikers, blues musicians, and barbeque aficionados for its famous barbeque and colorful regulars. Cooks can enjoy the Dino vibe at home with recipes like World Famous Dinosaur Ribs and Drunken Spicy Shameless Shrimp with Brazen Cocktail Sauce. Including everything from starters to desserts, plus house secrets behind the restaurant's famous pit-smoked specialties, this is one distinctively down-home, must-have cookbook.Amazon.com Review
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que kicked into gear in 1983 when John Stage, aHarley-loving biker with a taste for barbecue, took to the road cookingsandwiches on a sawed-in-half 55-gallon drum at "biker gigs" up and downthe East Coast. Stage sampled world-class barbecue in Virginia, Texas,North Carolina, and Memphis, soaking up "the Southern barbecue vibe"(and picking up Creole, Asian, and Cuban influences along the way) beforesetting up shop in Syracuse, New York, in 1988. Dinosaur Bar-B-Que: AnAmerican Roadhouse captures the reach-out-and-taste-it smell ofslow-cooked barbecue that hits you two blocks away from the "genuinehonky-tonk rib joint," where outfront a row of gleaming Harleys stand at attentionand inside a sassy, ready-to-bust-your-chops wait staff cuts through the eclecticcrowd of bikers, students, suits, and blues lovers (there's live musicalmost nightly), serving up half-racks of Dinosaur-StyleRibs, Texas Beef Brisket, and Honey Hush Corn Bread.

Between recipes for Drunken Spicy Shameless Shrimp with BrazenCocktail Sauce and Not Your Mama's Meatloaf are samples of the restaurant'sinfamous restroom graffiti ("When life gives you lemons... add vodka") andphotos of staff tattoos. Stage and coauthor Nancy Radke realize that notall backyard grill masters own smokers, let alone the kind ofhickory-log-fueled industrial pits at the Dinosaur (nicknamed "The Coffin"and "The Doghouse"), so they present home cooks with a helpful Techniquesof Outdoor Cookin' section that offers advice on how to grill and smoke withwood chips.

And no matter the season, this cookbook will quickly become a dog-earedfavorite, as many of the more than 100 recipes are perfect for indoor cookinganytime of the year. Whip up a batch of the all-purpose Mutha Sauce (aversatile starting off point for many of the dishes) and you'll have enoughammunition for a weekend's worth of recipes. If you want to come any closerto living the complete Dinosaur experience at home, you'll need a Harleyout front, a cold beer in hand, and Roosevelt Dean and the Spellbindersjammin' in the living room. --Brad Thomas Parsons ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best recipe book ever!! From the best resturant ever!!!
Nothing really needs to be said just buy it, you'll love every recipe in this book. They go through how to create the amazing meals they have at the resturant, from how to use smoke on a home bbq to using the correct sauces at the correct time. Appitizers to desert its all in there. The only recipe book you will ever need.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent entertaining cookbook
The book is a quick and entertaining read with the authors providinga history of their restaurants from the spark of an idea to three locations in Syracuse, Rochester, and New York City. Each recipe has a short story and the surrounding pages are accompanied by humorous quotes from the restaurant patrons. There are a lot of great looking recipes (descriptions as well as the actual photographs). Each recipe that I've have tried has been absolutely excellent. Highly recommend the "Mutha Sauce" (great by itself or as a base for other sauces), "Not Your Mama's Meatloaf," "Macaroni & Cheese Sheppard's Pie," "Honey Hush Cornbread," and the "Rice Pudding."My wife uses the book just as much as me (her favorite recipe is the "Dr Pepper Texas Chocolate Cake").

5-0 out of 5 stars delicious!
My family back east go to this restaurant in Rochester New york, They love it . And this book brings it home! Receipes are as good as they look!

5-0 out of 5 stars Not only the best book, but a real deal top notch BBQ joint!
I got this cookbook shortly after going to the BBQ. It was just by accident we found the restaurant while up in Syracuse. I managed to "accidentally" find my way back several times that weekend..until I was nearly too sick from stuffing my face with meat to finish my nursing clinicals. Whoops!

This book is the mecca of BBQ cookbooks. Try it, you will love it! I also just noticed that Wallyworld box mart has started stocking their sauces and I snatched up the last 2 bottles to mop my chops with out of laziness.

Nothing is a substitute for actually visiting this awesome joint so start saving up those frequent flyer miles so you too can enjoy the source of inspiration for this cookbook! :) Stepping in there is like stepping into a movie of sorts. Lots of pizzaz and attitude - much like this book. I've had lots of BBQ in my life - been to Tennessee and Texas to name a few places - and Dino is right up there with the best ever.

5-0 out of 5 stars It just doesn't get any better....
On the one hand we are very lucky that the Rochester Dinosaur is only an hour away---but on the other hand it is an hour away and some days that is not feasible.I have tried for years to make their incredible "Fried Green Tomatoes" with spicy buttermilk dressing but haven't really hit the mark.It is wonderful to have the recipes--that make this restaurant worth a drive in a snow storm--right at my fingertips. My family has two favorite BBQ places--the Dinosaur in Rochester and Southern Soul in St. Simon Island GA...truly food fit for the Gods.We thank the Dinosaur for being so generous with their secrets.Even though it's great to be able to make things at home, the atmosphere makes it still worth the drive. This is a very easy to follow, fun cookbook.I'd give this 10 stars if I could. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Creative Puzzle in Stopping the Stampede
I am seven years old.I like this book a lot because it is creative.I think this one is the best one in the series so far because an asteroid hits and makes a large crater which creates a big stampede of animals.Tom and Jamie have to figure out how to stop it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
my 4 year old is in love with dinosaurs, he can't get enough of this book.He takes it to bed and wakes up reading it in the morning.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not thrilled with it
I'd give it a 3.5 if I could, though.

If your kid is really into dinosaurs, then they'll love this book. I want to be very clear on that fact. It's full of interesting facts, it has size comparisons on every page, it has the correct pronunciation for every dinosaur listed, great.

If your kid is only kinda into dinosaurs, though, it may well be too long. TOO much information (especially as it's ostensibly teaching the alphabet as well) for the preschool set... and even for more fidgety kindergarteners.

In addition, it's a little oversized, making it difficult to fit it on my bookshelf. This is something that could've been dealt with if I'd thought ahead, but I didn't. (I note that the information on amazon calls this book 16 pages. I entered the ISBN to find this book to review it, it's more like 32 pages instead of 16.)

Consider your kid's personality, and think about checking this book out of the library before buying.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for 2-4
My son loved this book when we bought it in preparation to go to the Museum of Natural History at age 2 years 10 months. Having the pronunciation is wonderful, and I love how my son started correcting our pronunciation if we don't emphasize the right syllable. He even grew interested in repeating some of the facts. He could remember them one reading to the next, so there is no need to skip them with younger children. Perfect for the kid who has recently learned letters and shows interest in dinosaurs. It's very hard to find a dinosaur book that hits this age group so perfectly. Some have too much information and some are too childish. I would highly recommend it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Packed with info & pictures, best of all - phonetic pronouciations!
My daughter picked this board book out for my dinosaur mad 2.5 year old son.Although it is a board book, its really geared at a higher age level, but my son loves it.I would say its more aimed at 3.5-4 years old and up.Each letter has a corresponding dinosaur whose name begins with that letter. What I love is that it has a phonetic pronouciation so you as a parent can read it.Each page has a realistic "picture" of the dinosaur, not a cartoon, a little diagram on the dinosaur next to a person to show the child how big the dinosaur was, plus facts about the dinosaur. For my son, I just skip the facts for the moment and read the letter and the dinosaurs name and he loves it.

It's unfortunate I think because the board book format probably keeps it from being selected for the proper age group, but overall I think its a great book for dinosaur lovers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Great Dinosaur Mystery and the Bible
This is an excellent book with the perspective taken from the Bible.Great book for children.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every kid should have one
The book is obviously written from a Christian perspective, yet I am Jewish and I've bought a total of four books by now, some to place at different locations in my house and others as gifts for relatives.

The book does an excellent job of showing young children that there is another, much more logical, way to look at the past. The pictures are attractive and appealing to both girls and boys and the accompanying text is clear, succinct, and fast flowing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating.
I find it amusing (though hardly unexpected) that furious evolutionist spew rancorous insults toward creationists in their reviews, yet I have not read a single review yet which provides any scientific basis for their disdain.Their position seems merely to be that the information presented conflicts with their personal convictions, therefore cannot possibly have verity.I, personally, find it enormously interesting that cave paintings and rock etchings made by ancient races depict dinosaurs alongside humans. It isn't necessarly proof of anything I suppose, but fascinating nonetheless. Why does it make you angry, evolutionists, for facts such as these to be presented? Why do you fume when alternative theories are presented? I would remind you that a "scientist" is anyone who observes the world around us, making logical guesses about how it works based upon information gathered through these observations. Is this not what Paul Taylor has done? He does not disregard suggested "evidences" for macro-evolution; he merely poses another explanation, one which in my mind is more likely. Occam's Razor, friends.

1-0 out of 5 stars Editorial Vomit
Nothing even rseembling fact is to be found in this book, but I suppose that lends itself to a certain type of person. A work of fiction pretending to be science. Science is based on facts, observation, experimentation... not delusional "Because I said so" statements. "Professing to be wise, they became fools". Romans 1:22. Young-earth creationists would do themselves good to remember that one.

5-0 out of 5 stars GOSHZILLA THE BAPTIST DINOSAUR
I was only a few pages into Paul S. Taylor's "The Great Dinosaur Mystery and the Bible" before I realized that I had stumbled upon one of the most intellectually challenging pieces of non fiction that I have read this year. Mr. Taylor had actually used the juxtaposition of Henry Miller's "Tropic of Cancer" to Mary McCarthy's "The Group" to illustrate how two "dirty, post modern" works of fiction were created by a sort of contemporary Adam and Eve, both of whom, having fallen under the spell of Sodom sans Gomorrah (I could NOT understand that!) decided to elucidate a modern version of the Fall. I could not have disagreed more however Mr. Taylor's logic was impeccable and he was able to weave together a story of such compelling force that I had to stop reading after two pages and take a few deep breaths. I forged on and was rewarded with not only tidbits of magical thought but in some cases downright mother loads of unconventional and seminal thought nuggets. When I read about Jesus being bit by a dinosaur and Mr. Taylor's explanation of why God would allow such a thing to happen I actually had a few tears dribble down my face. Evidently, when Jesus was attacked by three not so wise apatosaurus it was enough to "set God off!" and thereby resulted in the laying of waste to an entire species with several millions well placed lightening bolts. I had to roll my eyes at that because it just didn't seem plausible to me but then Mr. Taylor went on to explain how the lightening changed the molecular structure of the bones so that they would appear to be sixty five million years older than they were. He had me. My mind is much more open now and I feel better in my personal life as well as my non personal life due to this book. The only complaint I really have is Mr. Taylor's contention that hell is exactly 3477 degrees fahrenheit in the summer and, without any explanation or scientific evidence, 20 cooler in the winter. Other than that, excellent read. ... Read more

Short on content. Not much to it. If you want a 2 minute book at bedtime, this is it. There are much better dinosaur train related books by other authors.

5-0 out of 5 stars interesting
This was a fun read with my son who loves dinosaurs and trains. It brings out the imagination.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for little ones
I started reading this book to my son when he was around 2 years old.It was perfect for that age because it is short, sweet, and fun.It also has some drama. My son started memorizing the words very quickly.I would definitely recommend this one for ages 2-3 to read TO them.My 4 year old is not reading yet so we don't pick this one up often at the moment.I would guess that for older ones just learning to read it's probably a good choice for that too.

3-0 out of 5 stars More script!
Fantastic pictures! Great premise, but lacking good story line. Should have more of a story and an ending.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great pictures, great concept, bland text/story.
The text of Dinosaur Train starts out promisingly enough; it is something to the effect of, "Thursday was a day much like any other for Jesse.Trains and dinosaurs.Dinosaurs and trains."But it goes downhill a bit from there, like the author created these beautiful images and then decided to add notes at the last minute.Sometimes a speaker is identified by the text, sometimes not; there's one point where some confusion could be the result.I almost think the story would stand better without any words than with the ones that are there.Jesse is the only character with any development to speak of (and I'm not sure there's even much there); removing the text would give us an opportunity to look more closely at other characters.Better text might actually add a plot (the plot, at this point, is basically that Jesse gets on a train, the train tips over, and Jesse tells the dinosaurs how to right the train).
The combination of dinosaurs and trains is irresistible, and I love the details in Jesse's toys and the way clothes somehow look perfectly natural on the dinosaurs. But the text actually makes Jesse seem too bossy to me, and it's amazing that such vibrant dinosaurs can be so submissive.
This concept is as breathtaking as that of the Polar Express, and my 2 1/2-year-old has had us read this book to him about a gazillion times, so he clearly appreciates it.It's just one of those that I don't like reading aloud again and again because the story doesn't do much for me. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Touch-Feel book
A simple, sweet book.Great textures, simple and bright illustrations. My 1-year-old prefers it over every other touch-feel book we own.

5-0 out of 5 stars my 4 month old picked this book
We received many books as gifts when our baby was born, but by 4 months she wasn't interested in any of them. I decided to go to the book store and let her pick one out herself. After about an hour looking at different books this was the one she obviously favored. I think it is because of the bold colors and glossy pages.

She currently is more interested in licking the book than trying to understand it, but it is always guaranteed to keep her attention for 5 to 10 minutes. The pages are thick and glossy and have taken quite a bit of drool without significant damage.

4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book
Not my daughter's favourite book of the collection but quite a good one, very colourful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for one-year-old!

We read it at least twice a day.He even takes the book on his own and flips through the pages. This was a great buy!I can't wait to buy the other "That's not my..." books!

5-0 out of 5 stars If you have a toddler who loves dinosaurs
I bought this book for my two year old nephew who is really into dinosaurs. This book is so cute and funny! My nephew loves whendinosaur WINS! He victoriously lifts his arms in the air to cheer. I recommend this book to anyone who has a child who loves dinosaurs or who has trouble putting a child to bed. I loved this book so much I bought a second copy for my own home for when the nieces and nephews visit.

5-0 out of 5 stars RAWRRRR!!!!!
My twin 4 year olds love when I read Dinosaur vs. Bedtime to them at night. It is an easy book for adults to act out the story and get the kids involved as well.

You will not regret getting this book for your kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars We Love this book, ROAR!
My 17 month-old daughter loves, loves, loves this book. I think it's quickly becoming one of her favorites. Good story to follow, great visuals, good solid, sturdy pages to outlast the abuse. Watching her kiss the Dinosaur and Roar at it is great fun and makes this book well worth the money and 5 stars.

My only, minor concern is that the pages are hard to turn sometimes. I don't know why, but I can't seem to always get a good grasp of them so it interrupts the flow of the story. And since my daughter loves to turn pages on her own it's worse because she can never go from page 1 to page 2 (the best she can manage is turning all the pages at once--a problem she doesn't have with other books).

Good buy, well worth the money, you won't be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dinasaur Wins!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars For Kids From 6 to at least 35
As soon as I saw the cover of this in the store, I knew I had to read it.As soon as I read it, I knew I had to buy it for my best friend's birthday. She told me it was the best gift she received all year. She's 35, by the way.The look on her face upon presentation, followed by the dramatic reading, was perhaps the best feeling I've had all year.

Mr. Shea, this is not only an irresistibly cute and fun book; it also proved a remarkably effective argument in a game of Apples to Apples: "Dinosaur vs. Elvis Presley?DINOSAUR WINS!" ... Read more
