Editorial Review Product Description The text represents carefully developed course materials, beginning with an introductory chapter on matrix algebra and methods for numerical computations, followed by a series of chapters discussing specific aeronautical applications. In this way, the student can be guided from the simple concept of a single-degree-of-freedom structural system to the more complex multidegree-of-freedom and continuous systems, including random vibrations, nonlinear systems, and aeroelastic phenomena. Among the various examples used in the text, the chapter on aeroelasticity of flight vehicles is particularly noteworthy with its clear presentation of the phenomena and its mathematical formulation for structural and aerodynamic loads. |

Editorial Review Product Description Each chapter is authored by an individual or group of individuals who are recognized as leaders in their area of GPS. These various viewpoints promote a thorough understanding of the system and make Global Positioning System: Theory and Applications the standard reference source for the Global Positioning System. The two volumes are intended to be complementary. Volume I concentrates on fundamentals and Volume II on applications. It is recommended for university engineering students, practicing GPS engineers, applications engineers, and managers who wish to improve their understanding of the system. Customer Reviews (2)
Global Positioning System: Theory & Applications
This is the essential treatment of GPS for engineers. Unlike IEEE volumes that seem to be magazine articles jammed together, these volumes appear to use systematic, top-down architecture of the outline. Each section is a coherent explanation of the topic, without any unevenness in coverage. The authors are well-known principals in this field. Spilker, for instance, has generated the most significant books in digital communications; modulation and demodulation being his specialty. I found these volumes to be so impressive that I bought the set for my personal use. ... Read more |

In timeline fashion, you'll read brief excerpts from hundreds of news articles reporting on significant accomplishments in flight. Through brief introductory essays, you will learn what made each decade of flight most significant. Concluding essays by John D. Anderson Jr. and Roger D. Launius of the NASM look at what lies ahead. Foreword by A. Scott Crossfield. The book was commissioned in celebration of the 100th anniversary of powered flight. Winter and van der Linden are both curators at the NASM, and authors of several acclaimed books on air and space history and the "Out of the Past" column published monthly in Aerospace America. |
