Got Passion? Got Pizazz?
This Book is very informative. It has all the information that I've been looking for, it's the real deal. The only thing is, the author's writing style is not very exciting. I'd prefer something with a little more pizazz and passion you can feel when you read it. I think religion and belief systems are something one should feel passionate about, and that should show through in writing.

Great for beginners!
Seriously, those new to Wicca should have this book. It is tailored for the solitary, which is exactly what I am and many others are in my area. Scott reassures we can still be devout Wiccans without covens, and he gives great information that is organized and easy to understand.

Extremely Helpful

Easy to understand, very nice!
Thea Sabin is a great writer! This is great information for beginners and I LOVED reading this book. Easy and fun to read. I recommend this book to anyone new to Wicca, and those who have trouble understanding British writers (they tend to be very wordy, no offense!)

This is by far the best wiccan book ever.
I love this book so much... I have been studying wicca for about nine years now and this is the first book where I actually felt like the author wasn't trying to push their own wiccan beliefs on to the reader.After reading the first chapter, I knew that this book was going to teach me so much and I was not mistaken.

I have read almost all of the famous authors: Buckland, Silverwolf, Cunningham, but for some reason I feel like Ms. Sabin is the only author who is realistic enough to know that she can not possibly know everything about Wicca. In my opinion, Buckland clearly thinks that he knows it all, Silverwolf is more subtle in her know it all attitude and Cunningham merely implies that he is a know it all.

So far Ms. Sabin, is the only author of wicca who seems to be able to give me the facts and teach me without being preachy or self-indulgent.She is humble and tells it like it is, qualities that are rare to find in an author who writes books about and/or for Wicca/Witchcraft.Then she somehow finds a way to allow me to go my own way.I have many friends who are intopracticing with a coven and they love this book as well (fyi: I am a solitary witch who also practices Buddhism).

I am so thankful that I happened across this book (I thank the God and Goddess everyday), and I honestly believe that this book has completely changed the way I do ritual and set up my alter.Even though I am not a beginner by any means, I still reach for this book often when I am practicing, because it is always good to brush up on the fundamental beliefs and the basics.

Perfect for truely learning the basics.
Her style of writing is so inviting and I find myself going back to this book repeatedly when I hit a snag in my own meditation practices. Good Intro , Needs More
I gave this book 3 star.

Pro: Good Introduction to the practice and motifs behind the Wicca, how to set an altar, understanding deities etc.

Cons: not a very helpful reading, since it does not explain in details, how to make things work, and how to establish a good connection with the forces and energies needed in Wicca ceremonies.

If you know the Basics you should skip this book, if you are new to Wicca is a good staring point but should be supplemented with other readings.

...in what a disappointment this sequal to "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practioner" was.The first 'Wicca' is excellent - the invocations are beautiful, the information well-researched and sound.I also like the bibliography in the back, as it recommends a lot of books that I haven't come across before, and they all sound very interesting.All in all, a classic.

But the sequel?Skip it.Aside from some practical info like advice to reading and compiling information from various sources (as much of what solitiaries learn are typically from books), and two well-done chapters about Goddess and God, it just in no way compares to the beauty and heart of the first book.

His other books on natural magic however, are wonderful!His encyclopedias on crystals, herbs, techniques of natural magic, creating magical crafts, are definitely worth a read!But this one book?Skip it.You'll learn much more from his other offerings.

Living Wicca review
After purchasing Scott Cunningham's book Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner, I read the book and looked to see what else he wrote.I found the first book useful and then purchased Living Wicca: A Further Guide for the Solitary Practitioner.I found this second book filled in the blanks on material that the first book told of but didn't give details on.I am very satisfied with the books and use them nightly in the process of my meditation.

Great!
THis is a great book for begginners and advanced alike. It's very easy to read and contains alot of info. This is a must have for pagans,wiccans...etc.

A MUST READ FOR ALL INTERESTED IN A PAGAN PATH
This book is excellent and will take you from history right down to practice of the wiccan path.It is filled with useful information from begining to end and a complete "how to" approach.It will answer ALL of your why, what, where, who and hows of wicca.Must have and must read for life either as a reference or a starting point.

Best beginner book yet.
Let me open with a bit of history about myself. Studying comparative religion, anthropology and mythology has been my favorite hobby for over 30 years, and I have been Wiccan for over 20.

When I first saw this book I was stunned that anyone would have the audacity to write an "Idiots Guide" on this topic. While I'm a fan of the "Idiots Guide" and "For Dummies" series for mundane topics, I thought no one in thier right mind would write one on a religion.

Despite my original distaste, my instincts kept pulling me back to this book, and since I'm always having people asking what is a good beginners book for Wicca, I decided to listen to my instincts and give this book a chance. After all, what kind of Wiccan would I be if I didn't listen to my instincts?

Simply put, this is the single best beginners guide to Wicca and Witchcraft(which I consider a religion, not a practice) I have ever read. I would feel comfortable casting circle with anyone who had seriously read through the book and took the time to think about what they are learning. This book gives introductions to most elements of the craft, giving the reader a good, generic, understanding of the basics.

Keep in mind further research will be required. This book will not make you anything more than a beginner, a neophyte. But it will be a good first step on a life long journey of learning.

I have been doing a great deal of reading and reviewing and more reading and searching and more.This book is definitely one that is easy to understand, easy to read and great for reference as I am learning more and more about Wiccan.Cunningham's books are great with this as well as much of the material and ideas are the same.A great reference for anyone starting out!

This book is among the stars of basic knowledge that fell from the sky. It covers in great detail, everything you need to know whether your just delving, beginning, or researching from history to the why's? and how-to's? I believe that if this book had a different title it would have to be labeled a grimoire. The compendium of information takes you from deciding why you are reading it's words, to the first steps of a witch's doing's, and through all the way through to the dedication and initiation rites if you decide to follow the craft. The Author doesn't preach to the choir, nor make biased opinions towards either side of the points it makes. Teenybopper wannabes?
This book should be called "Wicca for teenybopper wannabes". Not Wicca 101. There is nothing "101" about it. It merely explains what witches do, instead of what Wicca is, or why Wicca is. It is not for serious practitioners. So if you want real knowledge of Wicca, you should look elsewhere.

Best book for a beginner in Wicca
There are too many words to say How I love this book, its one of my favorites and I highly recommend it for a beginner in the path of wicca, it goes through everything in an easy way to follow..and the best part its not preachy as I found some other books.. its simple , easy and just a good read allin all, and the best part it is a book you will always go back to for a refresher.. I love this book so much I would give it to a fellow wicca friend if I didn't already bind it to my own Book of Shadows.

Poorly edited
Sorry, but the substandard editing was a distraction and made the book less than worthwhile to me. It is full of misspellings, incorrect punctuation, repeated or skipped words throughout, and in one section Water is referred to as East when it's called West everyplace else! I couldn't appreciate the information because of this! I wish I'd had the chance to "Look Inside" before purchasing but it wasn't available.

Short and Sweet
A quick read, has some very basic tips and information.Great for a beginner with a short attention span.

Book was Simple as stated in title
I was looking for a book about wicca ... just the basics. The author stated she did that. When I was reading the book I began to realize she wasn't giving us a book about wicca as a whole but a book about her experience of wicca. The book gave me a ton of information and was well written and laid out. Currently reading Wicca: A guide got the solitary practitioner. This is more what I was looking for ... a book describing wicca.

Good Basic Book
Good information for those interested in Wicca, but not the top of the line.The author is a Washington State psychic and spiritual counselor.She mentions she is a double Sagittarius, something I find interesting for some reason.She also says she does not like to do research, which I find a bit odd in a double Sagittarius.

Never the less, this is an excellent book for beginners and those who might wish to practice as solitary witches, as it has an introduction to ritual and some useful spells in it.I would have no hesitation in recommending it as a good starter book to those interested in Wicca or other nature religions.

Recommended, especially to the novice witch.

Imform yourself for your children
My son worried me because he was dressing gothic and going to a resturant where the oners were wicca.It scared the wits out of me but I am trying to understand the things he is interested and improve my knowledge of them before I make any quick judgements.This book is very imformative.There are still some things I don't belive in, but I continue to have an open mind and will continue to bye books on these subjects.If you are just learning this is a great starter book.To Michele Morgan, I say think you and wish I could have conversations with you to understand the things I do not.Thanks for being there.

My first wiccan book
Wicca is very special to me. I only knew what I was taught, and never held a published wiccan book before, till I got this one. I read it, at least 3 or so times. I've only practiced the simpler things inside it, but the out come was phantasmagorical. Nothing like Harry Potter or Merlin, but just the flow of energies and the knowlege is amazing!

Not in accordance with the Wiccan Rede!
I've owned this book for at least a decade. Yet, I still have it, and I don't know why except it is an example of the kind of book a Wiccan should never use. This starts off with thanking the Goddess--what about the God? Also, it does give the Wiccan Rede but obviously she doesn't follow it as there are spells that go against the Wiccan Rede. There are spells that go against the free will of others. For that, I would suggest to look elsewhere because this isn't a book to be trusted, and as far as a spellbook goes, there is much lacking. This is the first and only book I've bought by the author and it will stay that way!

Not very practical...
For the neophyte such as myself, I think this book is not very practical in terms of the spells.The majority of them require things I have no way of obtaining - dove's blood, holy water from a church, etc.I don't regret buying the book, though.It is great as a resource (herbs, amulets, etc) - they list amulets from a-z - I actually saw a Chinese woman wearing a jade Buddha and I knew it was for luck because of the book so that was cool:) - Cool as a resource - I doubt I will use any of the spells though.

I love this author
Gerina gives it to you straight so fluffy bunnies need not apply, She isn't going to suggar coat magick either practiced today or by the ancients. She puts it out their for you to decide whether to use it or step off. If your smart and have been in this as long as i have you'll stumble on the fact Gardner set peole up with the wican crede(he made up BTW to keep his coven in check) and that the 3fold is most definantly a fear tactic to create pause. As far as karma duh as above so below and you get back what you put out is fundiamentals of physics. so every positive action has and equal negative reaction (fluffies need to chew on that for awhile) ... Great for the inquisitive
I've bought a few copies of this to have around the house and to give as gifts. Great if you're interested in making your house more homey, or find out why things just don't sit right with you in your own house...

great book even if your not pagan.
the recipes in this book are exceptional and simple. i particularly like the money soup recipe although i havent yet gotten any extra money but it is still quite tasty.

Awesome Book but...
Though this is by the late great Scoot Cunningham who is missed terribly by the Pagan Community, I have found fault with it.@ major flaws.

1. The index is terrible.It was probably from the earlier edition and not updated when this edition was typeset.Its kind of annoying to look something up with multiple entires only for all of them to be wrong, even blank pages!

2.There are mix ups that can't be reconciled.I have Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs and some entries are completely different.For example, in Magical Herbs, Banana is Feminie, Venus and Water.In this book, Banana is associated with Mars and Air (No mention of gender but if its associated with the planet Mars, there ain't no way its feminine!).So which is it?And then which book is right?There are others.To me this is something Llewellyn before selling these.

Otherwise, this book is one of the very few that takes on magic in food and does for the most part very well.The author breaks them down into categories of fruit, vegetables, herbs and even drinks as well as associations.Handy!

Cooking with a cause
I have several of Cunningham's books and like them all.This one is very good at explaining Wicca reasonings behind ingredients in certain foods at specific times of the year.

The recipes results are good food.Nice purchase.

Wicca Bible
The Wicca Bible is jam packed with information. While this is normally good news, its writing style is some what lacking. because there is much to cover that some times it begins to sound more like an encyclopedia then anything else. But if you want to cover the basics without long drawn out in depth explanations this is your book. If you want to know the whys behind the scenes than this isn't the book for you. For me It was a great starting point for further study.

Decent but nothing new or special.
I would say the only useful information as such are the writing assignments. There is little to no explanation of the how and why you do things such as the sigils you carve, the reason to use certain incense or herbs, and the choices in substitutions are limited if there at all. This is compiled of a number of pricey 'shopping lists' that remind me of when you read a magazine written by a supplement company that then lists all their supplements. This is not a book for the sort who like to think for themselves, and instead is less for a solitary witch trying to fill in the gap of formal instruction then a number of lessons which get so wrapped up and contradictory in themselves as to make someone set the book aside entirely.

There are good self reflection exercises, but they can be found in every other Wicca 101 book. Overall I would pass on this book, perhaps get it at the local library so you can see if it appeals to you. Otherwise you'll spend a fortune in supplies that you would rarely use or may not find are too your liking.

Great Book for Beginners and Teachers
I found this book at a bookstore on a vacation trip. I fell in love with it. I like structure and lessons. Might be why I want to be a teacher one day. Anyways, the set up is great. It takes you day by day through the traditional Wiccan/Pagan Year and a Day of study. This study is required to become a full fledged Wiccan/Pagan aka 1st Degree Wiccan. When I started learning Wicca, I was lost and had to train through books. I wish this book had been available to me back then. So instead, I now use it to teach others their year and a day lessons as is my job as a 2nd Degree Wiccan aka Priestess. One of the reasons I use it is that aside for daily lessons it also has exercises to practice and rituals to do. I still enjoy doing the exercises in the book as they are still helpful. In short, I highly recommend this book to beginners, teachers, and everyone else. It's a great book.

surprised
I was very surprised at what a good writer he is. I wasn't expecting his level in a book about wicca. As for facts,.. who knows? its wicca right?...it seemed very solid anyway. He takes you through a year and a day training in a very systematical, satisfying way. A month ahead he gives a list of materials you'll need. I believe its easily one of the very best, if not the best book out there on the subject. I know it's the best I've read, by far.

This book is great. It breaks everything down into small easy to digest steps. I work alllll the time so having something to easily provide me nuggets of information is the best thing I could have. The one major problem with this book though is that I expected once I had it, I could do most of the rituals and things without much problem, but some of the things needed cost... well, alot, and aren't easy to come by. Its still enough to track them down, though with the P.O system in Alaska it may take a little more than a year and a day for me to finish this book.

A book every new Wiccan should own!!
I can't say how much I love this book! I'm on day 230, and I'm working through this book on my own. This book teaches you so many things and covers so much important material. It sneaks up on you how much you learn. You get to KNOW the Goddess and God in all of their aspects, learn about the elements, learn so much about all of the Sabbats, meditiation, divination, and so much more. Yes, you will need to purchase some simple supplies to make incenses and oils and some of the workings in this book. Guess what? They are relativily inexpensive, and the finished products are totally worth it. I live in the middle of South Dakota, and we have ZERO new age stores in this state. Guess what? I've been able to order everything I need through ebay and at a great store in Colorado that has a website as well as a brick and motar store, plus they take paypal. If you can't afford the ingrediants to make a certain incense, he does suggest simple ones. I'm getting so much out of this book, and I'll be kepping it on my shelf for reference when I'm done with it. ... Read more

Please Don't Say your Fluff Bunny Stuff is Wicca
I love this book, even if I don't exactly find resonance with all the author's feelings and views in my own heart.Read "between the lines," a good title for this book I believe is, "Puh-LEASE don't Say Your Fluff Bunny Stuff is Wicca!"That title sums up the theme of the book.THis is Wicca as viewed and taught by an Enneatype One, (for those familiar with the Enneagram) where there is clearly a right way, and a wrong way.COntrary to what some reviewers thought about her book, I don't believe Ellen is saying, "My Way or the HIghway", or trying to force her own coven's style of Wicca on everyone.She clearly says in the book, for instance, that she has NO problem with anyone creating their own "Wicca" from scratch, that people don't have to be in a coven, but she just asks that if they create their own tradition, they please don't claim it's been passed down for 500 years in their family.In other words, don't lie.I think we can all basically agree with that...(except for the liars)

I also don't experience her book as a "rant", but as an honest expression of annoyance with shallow approaches to a profound subject. (ANd she's direct, eg she says "pardon me while I choke" in response to one nitwitism that annoys her).What I heard her saying in this book, is that she believes in high standards, and she's displeased with many who are taking Wicca too shallowly, not doing the work, not doing the study, not making Wicca a path of lifelong learning, but rather having shallow and trivial relationships (if any!) with the Gods and Goddesses, passing themselves off as High Priestesses when they clearly haven't experienced "initiation", or lying and saying they are Hereditary Witches when in fact they read just one book on Witchcraft.Like a good Enneatype One, Ellen believes in ethical Wicca, and has a section on "The Ethics of Spellcasting."

The excellent part about this book, is that Ellen represents something essential to all of us in her pursuit of high standards, hard work, high ethics, in whatever our spiritual/religious path is, and she communicates these issues well in regards to some of the unique aspects of Wicca.She defines initiation as a spiritual process, basically bestowed by the Gods and Goddesses, not by a coven leader, and points out that people can be "initiated" without truly being Initiated, something that I believe escapes the literal-minded.She goes further than many towards trying to explain to the befuddled outsider why covens aren't just being nasty and rude when they don't tell all their secrets to outsiders..."Mysteries cannot be put into words!"

I don't think this book will bother or feel invalidating to any Solitary Witch who has totally created or is trying to create her/his own tradition from scratch, if they have done so earnestly, sincerely, with genuine desire to relate to and serve the GOds/Goddesses, and to experience Wicca or Witchcraft as a path of lifelong personal growth.This book will be more likely to be a slap in the face to those whose idea of Wicca is self-centered, egotistical or unhealthy, or is insincere or offends the Gods...and perhaps such people need the figurative slap in the face.

Annoyingly Preachy
This book is one of the worst books I have ever read on Wicca!She makes it plain that only those who agree with her are True Wiccans!It is dogmatic in the extreme.Kind of like other religions that are long on dogma and short on Spirituality!The lack of dogma coupled with core Ethical Teachings, emphasizing Self-Responsibility and Self-Accountability and respect for others beliefs are the main reasons why I am a Witch!

HOORAH!Religion for grown-ups!Ms. Cannon Reed's "My way or the highway," attitude that permeates the entire book is the complete opposite of what I believe!I don't want to trade one set of clergy telling me what to think for another set of clergy doing the exact same thing.If I want dogma, I'll pick a church and start going!

I love the eclectic mix of my beliefs.Interweaving Nature-Based Spirituality, Green practices, Celtic, American Indian, a little bit of Hinduism, and, yes, even reclaiming Mary as Goddess work beautifully for me!

Alas and alack, I must confess, my rituals can be quite lengthy and complicated!Love my robes, my tools, my crystals!So I also mix a bit of Ceremonial Magick in my practice.I make up my own mind!And I would never dream of telling someone else that my way should be their way!

Wicca 101, Again
The Heart of Wicca: Wise Words from a Crone on the Path is an admonition to Wiccans to take Wicca seriously. More precisely, it defines "serious" Wicca as the traditions, rituals, and beliefs made up by a coven (as opposed to solitary practitioners), which is then forced upon any who wish to join the coven.The greatest part of this book is spent building and reiterating this theme, with a few chapters in the back devoted to a cursory discussion of rituals,Sabbats,gods/goddesses, etc.With so many excellent beginning Wicca books on the market, new practitioners should not waste their money on The Heart of Wicca. Those of us who have been around longer will not pick up new insights here, and will have long since made up our minds as to what constitutes serious Wiccan practice.

This is a very interesting book. I fully recommend it to anyone looking for "mystical" answers. You may not agree with everything -- and that's OK. But take whatever you get from this book and simply make it yours. Try it. It works.

Wicca
I have many books and only a few that can be considered "complete guides." This one tops my list for a reference. I refer back to it a lot. It's permanently on my Wiccan library until I reach for it, which is often. It doesn't explain everything, but it has more than usual Wiccan books. I absolutely love it.

Fluffy bunnies much?
Wicca, the Complete Craft as written by D.J. Conway is an interesting book, to say the least.If you are new to Wiccan studies and instruction books, please pick up a copy of Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner (Includes Author's Book of Shadows).There you will discover a much better and more accurate look at history as well as a less biased look at the role that the God and Goddess play.

She has reduced the God to little more than a good lay for the Goddess, which is completely inaccurate.Her feminism would do well to duck its head when she works on an instructional text, to say the least.

It is however, a handy reference material, offering nicely presented correspondence lists as well as alphabets in the back.To tell the truth, with the slim pickings of books in my area, it was a nice buy only to get the compilation of information in the back.

Very good book.
I would recommend this book, very enjoyable to read.For the critics that say it doesn't give ritual instructions, I have no problem with that.Magic is from within and without, it's a personal thing as should be done as such.

Great for the beginner!
I love this book even though I am a magician and witch for many years I still enjoy this one. I brought a copy of this one many years ago and it was a great benefit to me. She has a great Hecate incense recipe that i still love to make also she has a Hecate ritual. I became really interested in Hecate since I read this book. I would reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in Wicca and Witchcraft.

I loved the way this book got me started in the basics
Very recommended for a beginner. Although I do agree it lacks some, it doesn't get too specific, and round and about it just does basics. It tells you of herbs, but not really how they are used. It tells you of a few spells and such, but again, never gets too specific. But when I was starting out, it helped me alot. And I would always go back when getting started for reference. I would definately recommend it as a good start to Wicca, and starting of a Witch's library!

Another great one by Ms. Dunwich.
This is the second Gerina Dunwich book I have read.My first was The Wicca Spellbook, and it was the book that started me on this path.This book contains a lot of great information as well as some spells and rituals.

The book is very informative and open minded. The paper, however, is not good for highlighting.

Wicca is something I've always been interested in so I decided to start reading about it & thought a "Dummies" book is always a good place to start.I was right.This book has lots of useful info, both about what Wicca is and is not.It is very well written and easy to understand.It convinced me that I was on the right path, but it does not proselytize.I highly recommend this if you are interested in the Craft.Blessed Be!

Very good introduction into the world of Wicca
I am a fan of all the dummies guides for there well laid out and easy to follow format. They also make good quick reference guides as well. The book WIcca and Witchcraft for dummies provides a good over view of Wicca and the different aspects that make up the belief set. Things like what are the scared days of the year and concepts of the Goddess in all her forms. I believe this book is a good place to start if you are interested dipping your toe into the world of Wicca. It will give you a road map of where to go next for more information and that is the strength of the For Dummies series.

this is easy to understand and is writen exclusively for the solitary, unlike some of his other books. the rituals are all easily used by one and not just adapted for the solitary from coven use. i'd recommend this as a 101 book for anybody.

A Welcomed Addition to My Personal Library
I treasure Mr. Raymond Buckland's WICCA FOR ONE book, and I have found it to be such a useful guide, to all issues involving witchcraft, that I currently have forty-five bookmark tabs inserted throughout my copy of this most helpful book.Buckland skillfully navigates the reader through an expansive landscape of occult topics, but Buckland's perspective, his clarity of vision, on the genesis and nature of Wicca is a steady compass ensuring the reader is never at risk of becoming confused or lost.His justification of the solitary witch is satisfying, and the numerous tables contained in the appendices are sure useful.I salute you, Mr. Buckland!

Llewellyn Infomercial
This book is nothing but an Llewellyn Infomercial. Almost all the Wiccans mentioned are authors who have had books published by Lewellyn. The book steers clear of controversial subjects, like Gavin and Yvonne Frost. Sure, they're pedophiles, but how can you have a history of Wicca if you exclude the Frosts??? Like it or not, they were instrumental in the spread of Wicca in America. The Magic Power of Witchcraft was advertised in many astrology magazines and comic books, and I know many people who found Wicca through that book. Back in the 1970's, it was the most accessible book around. No mention of Al Manning or Paul Huson either. Why? Because they too, are considered taboo now, and the were never published by Llewellyn. For a better slant on Wicca, read anything by Professor Ronald Hutton and Crafting The Art of Magick by Adian Kelly. The Encyclopedia of Witchcraft and Demonology by R.H. Robbins is good too. Witches and Witch-Hunts: A Global History (Themes in History)
by Wolfgang Behringer is a must. Goddess Unmasked: The Rise of Neopagan Feminist Spirituality by Philip G Davis Ph.D and The Myth of Matriarchal Prehistory: Why An Invented Past Will Not Give Women a Future by Cynthia Eller are excellent...if you're brave enough to read them.

INCOMPLETE
I very much enjoyed Mr. Grimassi's "The Wiccan Mysteries" and was looking forward to reading his "Encyclopedia of Wicca and Witchcraft." However, I was very disappointed to find very few of my favorite wiccan authors (i.e. Laurie Cabot, Gerina Dunwich, and other "non-Llewellyns") listed among this who's who of the witchcraft world. In my opinion, to be a definitive encyclopedia of wicca and witchcraft, ALL prominent members of the wiccan community should be included, and not just the ones who write books for Llewellyn. For a more better resource of pagan biographies, I would have to recommend Raymond Buckland's "The Witch Book" (Publisher: Visible Ink Press).

The Best I've Seen
Grimassi's book is unquestionably the ultimate and definitive work on the topic of modern Wicca and Witchcraft.The author covers every relevant topic related to the Craft, and provides the reader with leads to other topics that further enhance one's understanding of Wicca and Witchcraft.No other Wiccan/Witchcraft encyclopedia in print today can match the depth and scope of this single volume.

This encyclopedia is an excellent resource for both the beginner and the seasoned veteran.It is certainly a "must have" for anyone serious about the Craft today.

A Must Have for Your Reference Library
If encyclopedias were a work of art...Encyclopedia of Wicca and Witchcraft would be a masterpiece.

Raven Grimassi has filled the void in wicca and witchcraft reference material. Encyclopedia of Wicca and Witchcraft is packed with 470 pages of knowledge, everything from pantheons, histories, historical and sacred sites, invocations and rites to biographies of some of the most influential practioners, past and present.

You could read ten books and still not get as much information as you will find inside the covers of the Encyclopedia of Wicca and Witchcraft. This reference work would be a plus with classes, covens or a private library. Use it for reference or use it for enjoyment. Either way you go you will become enlightened.

I cannot find a more useful tool then the Encyclopedia of Wicca and Witchcraft. It is a must have for personal use, reference in your practices and beliefs, covens, circles or groves. It would be a wonderful addition to classrooms and libraries.

Essential Encyclopedia
Raven Grimassi has collected together in this one volume some of the basic elements of Wicca and Witchcraft as well as some biographies of the movers and shakers within our community.

Mr. Grimassi covers many areas of beliefs, such as the various Gods/Goddesses and their stories.He also covers such items as tools, books referencing Wicca and Witchcraft, trees, animals, organizations and so much more.He has entries related to history, myths, legends, shamanic material and so much morethat the book becomes a text book as well as a reference book.The information is general, but covers much of what a researcher might want to know about each subject and how it relates to Wicca and Witchcraft.

What I found interesting were his bios of people who have either founded or were an influence to our Spiritual paths.From Aleister Crowley to Oberon (Tim) Zell to Doreen Valiente to Carl Weschcke, he provides information as to who these people were in a brief but insightful manner.I thoroughly enjoyed reading the backgrounds of some of the people who have written our books or founded our organizations or have had some influence on what we know today as Wicca and Witchcraft.

This is a good book for those who are constantly referencing this kind of material, as Mr. Grimassi has put much of what we have to usually look in many volumes for into one convenient location.This is a wonderful collection of information that will be pulled off the shelf again and again. ... Boring and uninteresting
This book, while promising to be chock full of information and helpful tips was the most unhelpful book I've ever read. It seemed to me that the author was bitter and missed the "old days" a bit too much. While I'm sure her life is NOT full of regret, it made me depressed to read it, and believe me, I suffered through the whole thing, hoping it would get better. I was disappointed.

Provides answers to questions on faith and values.
The revised, expanded edition of Ashleen O'Gaea's FAMILY WICCA: PRACTICAL PAGANISM FOR PARENTS AND CHILDREN updates a decade-old classic, pairing a specifically Wiccan outlook with tips on family and kids which can be useful for Druids and other new age spirituality followers too. Ashleen O'Gaea is both priestess and mother: FAMILY WICCA comes from her own family experiences and provides answers to questions on faith and values.

Good Overall Guide
This is a new and revised edition of the very popular book by this author.I even had a friend comment to me that she had seen this new version and wanted to know if I had read it.

Well, I did.While containing much of the older and basic material, there is much new.

The book approaches whole family practice, and the raising of a child in our belief system.It discusses social, magical, political topics and more, giving us a grounding in our own basic principles so we can easily pass these along to our children.

There is a basic outline of modern Wicca and the family, Sabbats, specifics to raising children in the Craft, answering those questions that you didn't think you could answer, rites of passage, Wheel of the year and more.

The first book was a very good and useful tool for the Wiccan family.This updated version still finds practical advices, good overviews of the practice and Ms. Ogaea's simple yet elegant writing style that makes this a good choice for anyone looking for a guidebook for bringing Wicca into a family practice.boudica

Not what I expected....BUT so much more!
I just got done reading the book Family Wicca: Practical Paganism for Parents and Children (the revised and expanded edition) by Ashleen O'Gaea. While the book was not exactly how I thought it was going to be as far as giving pointers on how to raise your children as Pagan.....it became so much more than that to me. I absolutly loved this book! It gave great ideas of what families can do to celebrate the Sabbats and Esbats (Which Mrs. O'Gaea refers to as Suns and Moons) together as well as celebrating passages in life such as...coming of age, Croning, Dedication, and Death. I also find this book a valubale asset forany "family" such as a Practicing group, or Coven. As a matter of fact I have gotten some great ideas of things to do with the Coven I belong to, and would love to do the Queening ritual for the Women's Mysteries group I am in.

The book also deals with some spiritual questions children might ask, and gives pointers on how to go about answering them. There is alot of talk about morals and ethics throughout, which I think is very important.The author also gave alot of personal antecdotes on her past expierences in raising her child on the Wiccan path. (who is grown now, and is no longer Wiccan)

Another great point the author brings up in this book was that even if you raise your child in a Pagan tradition, they may not choose to be Pagan when they are an adult....and that's OK. It's a lesson that tells me the religion the child chooses to follow is no big deal because at least the parent raised them with the best of intentions and instilled a good moral and ethical foundation in that child.

I found out that this same author has another book called Raising Witches: Teaching the Wiccan faith to Children That book goes more indepth on how to teach your children. It has a Wiccan Curriculim for 5 different age groups. The book talks about how children grow and learn so one can teach thier children what is appropriate for thier age level. And I am shure those that aren't specifically Wican can benefit from this book as well, adapting things to suit thier particualr Pagan path. I havent reas this one yet but will be ordering it on Amazon probably after I am done typing this.

In conclusion I have to say that I highly reccomend this book to not only Pagan families, but other types of families as well such as Pagan groups, and Covens. Kudos to you Ashleen O'Gaea, and thank you for blessing me with such wonderful words to read. May you and your family be blessed always!

great handbook!!
For those who are into wicca just starting out this is a very simple handbook that helps with anything and everything possible from problems to heath and its very well wrote not so complex and hard more simple and greatly done for those who want simple and easy this book is a must have for those who are just starting out or starting out again like me. Its a great guide!!

Make your own decisions
There are plenty of books out there that will outline a beliefs system on wicca for you. There are also books that dumb down wicca and put it into a little box. This is not one of them.
I enjoy Ms. hollands style. I have been a wiccan for 8 years and a pagan for 12. Picking this book up early on, it was a little confuseing to me, but never the less when I am looking for something to help me write a spell this book is one of my best friends.
I would recomend this book but I would provide these cautions. If you looking for wicca for dummys, this is not for you . If you are looking for fluffy bunny stories of how wicca is only white magick and there are no bad wiccans, this isn't for you. She also chooses information she will and won't provide censoring the reader a little.I don't like this. Give me all the advice in the world but If I am determined I will get what I am looking for. This is a guide to help you expand your magical workings and to make you think. Personaly it has helped me and I hope it can help others

Excellent Reference Book
This book is an excellent reference book if you're already a practicioner of Wicca. I wasn't when I bought it, so it led me to even more questions and a confused reading. So, if you already know what she's talking about, then it's much easier for you to understand, but for a beginner I would not recomend it unless you are using as a dictionary or encyclopedia of sorts.
