Product Description
Aleister Crowley’s ascension into the pantheon of alternative gurus was cemented by his appearance on The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover. Unfortunately, he was known more for his reputation as "The Beast 666" and "The Wickedest Man in the World." All well and good for publicity, but this infamy eclipsed his teachings, as did his technical and opaque writing style, meant more for adepts contemporary to him than the average modern reader. Enter Lon Milo DuQuette to decipher and explain Crowley’s texts and more important rituals. The Magick of Aleister Crowley is a clear introduction to the works of Crowley by a modern master of the occult and one of the wittiest writers in the field. DuQuette takes the mystery out of both the rituals themselves and Crowley’s writing in this modern grimoire. Step by step, he presents a course of study in plain English, with examples of rituals and explanations of their significance. DuQuette also includes a course of study for Crowley’s original works with an extensive bibliography and fastidious footnotes.

Formerly titled The Magick of Thelema, this revised edition features extensive corrections, a new introduction, and a new ritual, "The Rites of Eleusis."

This is the perfect introductory text for readers who wonder what the works—rather than the myth—of Aleister Crowley are all about. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars magick of crowley
great comprehensable and even fun?and all in an occult book that covers real magick wow!

1-0 out of 5 stars for babies????
This book is a waste of paper. It is not proper description of the rituals. It waters down Crowley. It has little value to any magician. Lon Duquette is a wonderful human being, this book weakens the 93 current so badly that it is hardly any use. If you want to know about the magick of AC read Magick and learn the stuff by trial and error. Lon has other books that are great, but this is not one of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars SetiDraconis
I recommend this book, alot of books on Thelema can be hard to understand and follow and this book is to the point.

Excellent beginner book to Thelema and the Magick of Alister Crowley it will pave the way to more advanced books.

2-0 out of 5 stars dissappointing
I really like the author A LOT, he seems very approachable and friendly and definitely knowledgeable. Therefore I feel a bit sad that I own this book. It's basically a compilation of a number Thelema Libers EASILY available legally for free online.. and then some few comments written by the author himself about each Liber. The concept of the book would have great potential if he had actually written something substatial, meaning 5x more about each Liber.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but overlooks information
This isgood, coherent, introduction, but like virtually all books available in the United States having to do with Aleister Crowley and Thelema it leaves out conflicting views from Britain. Duqette ignores what could be vital interpretations about parts of Thelema provided by Kenneth Grant, in particular the discussion of what ShT means in the LaShTAl formula. Besides not even mentioning that a substantial amount of information, and several organizations that are Thelemic, exist beyond the 'Caliphate' O.T.O., the legally recognized one in the U.S., and the A .'. A.'. it simply glosses over parts that aren't suitable, like not discussing the symbolism of Khepra, the sun at midnight in Egyptian theology, which Grant's and other organizations, particularly the Temple of Set, have a lot to say about.

Also, it sticks to an overly restrictive version of what the 'Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel' is. Crowley definitively identified this entity with the Silent Self, while the stuff coming out of the Caliphate (see Peter Koenig's webpage for a definition on this term) stresses the Abramelin operation, which actually goes in the opposite direction, besides being virtually impossible to do.

That said, it provides a good basis for beginners, but don't be fooled by the siren song of simplified American Thelema. It's strangely fortunate that the dissident books aren't widely available in the U.S., isn't it? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Necessary Learning Tool
Excellent compilation of all the fundamental texts necessary to cover this area of esoteric enquiry.Convenient in content and presentation, provides easy reference between texts.Anyone seriously exploring Crowley and/or Thelema, this is a must buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very decent.
Appart from the fact that the texts within are written in a poetic style, and the fact that they make no literal sense, this book is somewhat enlightening. After reading one or two of the texts you feel like you've made progress on whatever journey you had started. It's as if, even though you don't comprehend the meaning, the words say something to you that you would never understand if it was said to you in a direct way. I would suggest that anyone who is interested in a higher level of education beyond the material world purchase this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Thelema's Bible...
The Holy Books of Thelema contains the essence of the magical system of Aleister Crowley. These books were 'inspired' or Class A material, which means they were meant to be transmitted to the public in the form in which they were originally written. Any student of Thelema or the Occult should get their hands on this book NOW and study it's meaning.

5-0 out of 5 stars Smyth-sewn ?
I was disappointed recently to find this paperback edition of Holy Books in a bookshop, only to find it perfect-bound, on dubious paper. ah well - perhaps it was just a single bad printers' run. . .

A book such as this would be read and re-read again, if only for its sheer beauty of such marvelous pieces as Liber 65, Liber Seven, and Tzaddi. This would lead to the destruction of the book, bound as I had found it. At twenty-plus dollars, this is a tall price to pay.

Earlier, I had found this paperback Smyth-sewn, durable, on good paper. I hope somehow, it is back to being sold this way.

Still, it would be worth getting this book at Amazons' low price, whatever the binding and paper quality is right now. Of course, one can always read these on the 'net, and even print and bind your own copies. Hard to Smyth-sew your own copies on vellum, or other book-quality paper, however...

My salute with pleasure, by the way, to those who are coming to the beauty and pleasures of reading Liber 65 and such for the first time.

How these poetic gems manage to elude the readership of a populace tolerant of some fairly poetic, picturesque and evenbizarre reading material, is beyond me. ACs Holy Books even manage to elude any kind of regular quotation by essentially eclectic, eccentric and marginalized writers, who affect to 'wow' us with out-of-the-way resources. How odd.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Inspired Works
This is a compendium of Aleister Crowley's Class A inspired writings. Included in the book is a chapter containing The Book of the Law, which remains Crowley's most enduring works because it is the holy scripture of the Thelemic religion. When I joined people thought it was a cult wheras now it is more properly understood as a more legit religion. The Class A writings are similar to those of what would recieve a grade of an A in a school. Some of the later works by Crowley were Class B, or even D. They looked bad compared to these inspired holy scriptures. Most of these lesser works were a cash in and just that- looking for some cheap earned cash on the name of Aleister Crowley. This is one of the only works by Crowley I would recommend if you just want to practice the religion of Thelema. Personally I am more into the magick and philosophy of Crowley and even that disappointed. I would recommend trying to practice the goetia and tarot. Most of the actual rituals Crowley left to the public were done as a show of faith to the religion which I am not really into. So it leaves me wondering why they call it "magick" if it is just a morally questionablereligion, questionable on the grounds of Crowley's moral character which included having intercourse with members of the same sex which is why he was expelled from the Golden Dawn. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars THE PERFECT FIRST BOOK
This is the first book that any ceremonial magician should have.

If you have thumbed through other books and texts and still find yourself a little behind the curve, then get back to basics and get this book! You will be VERY pleased that you did!

4-0 out of 5 stars A useful introduction to Crowley's rituals
A fairly comprehensive collection of Crowley's basic rituals. There is an important aspect of The Ritual of the Mark of the Beast which is ommitted. The Magick of Thelema is, nonetheless, a useful reference book.(Duquette doesn't seem to be very good with his e-mail replies.)Overall, this book is a good buy with its low price.

1-0 out of 5 stars A sloppy primer for sloppy minds
Mr Crowley's writings on the occult are hardly challenging for persons moderately well read and do not require slovenly exegesis such as this lamentable book. Unfortunately Mr Duquette level of scholarship does not even extend as far as the capability of transliterating the Greek vowel eta correctly which he gives as the consonant h. Vowel? Consonant? What's the difference really when there are ready and willing occultasters parting with their cash for such tripe? Change not the barbarous names of evocation indeed. Several persons of note have lamented the trend of the "McDonaldisation of occulture" of late. In light of this theory this volume is surely a cold and stale Big Mac.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you don't grasp Crowley right away...
This is a highly useful book for the new initiates into the Thelemic system of Magick. For some people, it's difficult to grasp all of Crowley's concepts, so this little manual is highly reccommended.Even I, a recent initiate to the Thelemic system, have found it very useful even though I usually understand Crowley's ideas.I'd highly reccommend Magick In Theory and Practice in addition to this book, because that covers everything, and can be used for all other types of magick as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction/Handbook of "Thelema" & Thelemic Rituals
This practical Handbook of Thelemic Rituals is a perfect Introductory guide, or quick-reference guide for Thelemites and other Crowley Enthusiasts. "The Magick of Thelema" --a collection of Aleister Crowley's Rituals, with commentary-- is perfect for the beginning Thelemite, Working Magickian (ritual scripts / instructions), Researchers of various occult schools, and others-especially, those who do not have the time to devote to doing this research on their own, yet....or for people who are just curious about Thelema, and do not have the inclination to spend a lot of money the subject, until they determine if their money would be well-spent (Crowley was a very Prolific writer).Basically, this is a "Thelemic Primer" which explains everything from the concept of "Aeons" to the reason Duquette saves the best Ritual for last: "The Gnostic Mass."

Anyone who has ever read Crowley is painfully aware of his rambling, self-aggrandizing (dare I say, babbling?) style, which is not conducive to the beginning researcher or Thelemite's comprehension of the subjects Crowley attempts to teach.Crowley's style is rather humorous and endearing to those of us who have devoted endless hours to reading his works, and those of us who have ingested "Magick Without Tears," but to the average reader, Crowley is almost incomprehensible (I think he enjoyed "teaching" in this manner).

However, Duquette has the wonderful ability to teach Thelema and Thelemic Ritual with a more rational, easy to comprehend method.Instead of rambling for numerous pages, then saying something of relevance, he cuts to the chase, and gives the reader the goodies, without all the extraneous verbiage (and rarely pats himself on the back, for his good work).

As one reviewer noted, "Magick: Liber Aba: Book 4" is the Ultimate resource book for Thelemites--and, yes, it contains many of the important books Crowley contributed to the field of Magick. However, it is not a good book to recommend to the Beginner and it is not a good reference book to pack-around in the Temple, due to it's size.Yet, Duquette's Handbook is amazingly concise, and portable (unlike the hefty "Big Blue Brick" -which, if dropped on your foot, will probably ruin your ritual with a broken toe!).

I know for a fact that it sometimes takes an essay just to explain to someone the convoluted history of "Magick: Liber Aba: Book 4" (ISBN: 0877289190)--and the book contains hundreds and hundreds of footnotes to explain Crowley's thinking process (not exactly a "Beginner's" introduction to Thelema)."Magick: Liber Aba: Book 4"is the perfect book to purchase after a person decides that they are interested in pursuing Crowley's Magickal teachings-but, personally, I will always recommend Duquette's books as an Introduction to "Thelema," instead of throwing them into the Deep End, with Crowley.

Duquette is one of the greatest personalities to become associated with Thelema and the works of Crowley.I have a lot of respect for Duquette and his writing style--he gets to the point, and doesn't waste my time congratulating himself with endless tangents. His humor is infectious and his Magickal endeavors are renown, without shameless self-promotion and exaggeration (as in Crowley's own writings).

Due to the complicated nature of the study of "Thelema," I recently created a "How to guide" which is a synopsis of a battle plan to tackle Uncle Al's legacy of Magickal Teachings--yet I believe Duquette's works are, truly, the best introduction to the study of Crowley / Thelema, because of Crowley's eccentric writing style.Duquette, thankfully, warns prospective Thelemites of the various pitfalls involved in the study of Thelema and teaches Common Sense approaches to the subject and Rituals.

I would not suggest throwing The Big Blue Brick ("Magick: Liber Aba: Book 4") at a New Student, until the Individual has read Introductory material such as "The Magick of Thelema."Duquette's concise, comprehensive exposition of the subject will save the beginner a lot of trouble and give the reader a great (and Safe) start along the Thelemic Path of Magick. ... Product Description
Over a decade in development, Tantric Thelema develops author Sam Webster's Pagan Dharma work uniting Pagan, especially Thelemic spirituality with Buddhist wisdom and ritual technology. It gives a complete method for learning a Mahayoga Tantric technique for invoking the primary deity of Thelema, Ra-Hoor-Khuit. Forty-seven practices are described in fine detail with clear theory to enable the reader to advance spiritually. For the first time ever the Initiatory and Couples practices are published, along with a practice to prepare for Death.Sam Webster, M. Div., Mage, has taught magick publicly since 1984. He graduated from Starr King School for the Ministry at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley in 1993. He is an Adept of the Golden Dawn and a cofounder of the Chthonic-Ouranian Templar order, as well as an initiate of Wiccan, Buddhist, Hindu and Masonic traditions. His work has been published in a number of journals such as Green Egg, Reclaiming Quarterly, Mezlim, and Gnosis. He founded the Open Source Order of the Golden Dawn in 2001 (www.OSOGD.org), and serves the Pagan community principally as a priest of Hermes. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars High Powered Thelema
While the title of this book implies a very basic principle of marketing (take any two things, put them together, and you have a hit), it is also indicative of taking things to a new level when it comes to Thelema. The author of the book, Sam Webster, is an established occultist, which makes this book all the more tantalizing. The cover art is an added bonus. I highly recommend this book to anyone in the 93 current!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent work!
This is an amazing book. The Ra-Hoor-Khuit practices are given concisely but with all the details needed to perform them, and they can be generalized for other deities to fit any Pagan tradition. Sam has provided a vital piece of missing magical technology for Thelemites and non-Thelemites alike. If you are interested in (or even just curious about) theurgical practice, "Tantric Thelema" is a must-read, period. ... Read more

Product Description
Gerald del Campo began his inward travels in 1975 utilizing the various methods prescribed by Dion Fortune, Paul Foster Case, William Gray, Eliphas Levi, Arthur Waite, Helena P. Blavatsky and others. Most of this work was rewarding, yielding profound results. In 1982 he experienced a life changing event which altered his perception of the Universe and his relationship to it: A complete stranger handed him Liber AL vel Legis, The Book of the Law.

After over two decades of traveling this road, Gerald del Campo released the first edition of his field guide to the Thelemic path, New Aeon Magick. Filled with deep insight, practical instruction, and a very down-to-earth style, this volume became an instant success. New Aeon Magick helps decipher many of the puzzles that confront the modern practitioner: What is Qabalah and how do I use it? Where do I get my Magical tools? What is yoga? What makes Thelema different? These and many other questions are addressed in this "magical travel guide."

This is the second revised edition of New Aeon Magick. In it del Campo has expanded and enlarged this unique work by adding more on Qabalah, Gematria, God forms, the Thelemic path, magical ceremonies and much more. Where ever your path leads you to, New Aeon Magick shows the art of magical living and is presented in a realistic, easy to understand and practical fashion. This book is intended for those that want to focus on "Practice" rather than "Theory." It will encourage you to find your own path so that you may open up a road not previously charted.

Discovering your path is a very difficult task. Ranging from what groups to join, to how to obtain proper magical tools. The path is filled with trials and pitfalls. All such paths are said to originate from one source, making the philosophical choices we must make even more difficult. New Aeon Magick helps avoid these obstacles.

New Aeon Magick is a unique book, and the details of a Thelemic magical life are candidly shared by a magician who has been said to "wear his heart on his sleeve." This is not a book you will put away on your shelf to collect dust: it is a manual and a glimpse into the private life of a Thelemic magician. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars OK but I still did not buy it!
I came across this book in a used bookstore and was initially going to buy it...but as I looked over it in more detail I found it to be too simplistic and not very comprehensive. The author talks about each of us finding our own way which I am all for but then he provides you with small ceremonies.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good place to start
I am a big fan of the author in his capacity as practitioner of Thelema and magick, and as a scholar of many things.I wish he had employed those skills in producing this work.

New Aeon Magick purports to be a beginner's guide.Del Campo specifically stated in his Introduction that it started life as something to pass on to his children as their guide to Thelema and magick. In this regard, it is a decent overview of some very complex matters.

The treatments of some of the subjects are occasionally superficial, unfortunately. The reader looking to get an indepth discussion of these issues will need to suppliment his or her reading. To aid this, a bibliography would be worth having. Also some sourcing of his quotes and statements about the teachings of Thelema and of other magical schools would be helpful.

This book would serve well as a "table of contents" to other, more detailed treatments of Thelema and ceremonial magick, but has trouble standing on its own.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Pure Delight!
I very seldom take the time to do these things, so you know I have to be very impressed to do so. I found this book to be an eye opening experience which has opened a door to a whole new world. Part of what makes this book so special is that it makes it's case without having to have any background in the subject matter.
Unlike other occult authors Mr.Del Campo opens the door without a lot of "in" jargon. A very sraight up approach to the subject matter. If your curious about the subject of Thelema, look no further!

4-0 out of 5 stars Living Thelema
This book by a veteran Thelemite and O.T.O. official is about living Thelema. It adresses every day issues, as well as other stuff available elsewhere that are popular topics in occult circles such as the HGA. A good little book that deserves to be read by any serious, real, live Thelemite. The chapters for the most part are very small, leading the reader to go on a pace and read several chapters at a time. A less grandiose and imposing book on magick than Crowley's or Duquette's. This should give one the understanding of what it is to be a Thelemite and how we are. We are people just like you, but we have a grandiose belief system and we are legendary. Being a real, living Thelemite is like being the star of your own fantasy play, for better and worse. At times life can be humorous and blend that with seriousness and it can also often be a nightmare, not just for me but for other people. Even though it's not the same, cross my path and I will get you back usuallu worse. My life philosophy is "what comes around goes around," as cliche as it is. They can't make you be something you're not.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Steaming Pile of Crap
If there was an option for zero stars, that is what I would award this "book."To point out all of the flaws, inaccuracies, and blatant falsehoods in this book would take up nearly as much space as the book itself occupies.I wholeheartedly agree with a previous reviewer that if one is not intellectualy ready for Liber ABA, then that person is not ready for ceremonial magick. This book panders to idiots and is a disgrace to Crowley's name. ... They swore strange oaths and worshipped at strangeshrines; They mocked at what the vulgar hold for holy : They scoffed at teachers, preachers, and divines : And taught despair, with cultured melancholy."" The only fault in my son, Alan Dunlop," said his father, " is that he wants youth. He has never been young, and yet he is only five and twenty."To want youth is a fault which, with most of us, grows every day more confirmed. It is an incorrigible vice, which only gets worse as the years run on. Here indeed we are all miserable sinners, and the greater the sin, that is, the farther off we are from youth, the greater the sorrow. Which is as it should be.Alan Dunlop as a boy was a dreamer, with a strong physique. This impelled him into action. The way to make a great reformer, is to get a boy whose brain is likea sponge for the reception of ideas, and like a hot-house for their growth ; but when his physique is of iron, then you may make a bid at a Luther. No use, however, to produce boys whose ideas are magnificent, and temperaments torpid. He was brought up in the country altogether, at Weyland Court; and as his mother foolishly thought him delicate, he was educated till eighteen by private tutors, under her own eyes. He was not delicate at all. And one result of his training was, that he learned a great deal more of books than if he had been at Eton; but had no taste for boys' games, and read immensely. By his father's orders, he was made, when quite a small boy, to ride every day. Riding and walking were his only methods of taking exercise. His father, however, who spent a large part of his time in London, did not otherwise interfere; and on finding how very different from himself this son of his was likely to turn out, ceased to manifest muc... ... It comprises a survey of every word in these texts, along with a brief quotation to give the context in which each word is used, and the location in which it appears. On the most basic level the book serves as a convenient reference guide or index to the contents of 'The Holy Books.' More importantly, it provides a level of access to the basic elements of the structure and composition of the texts that no conventional reading would afford. Key words and their frequencies of use become apparent, broader usage patterns are revealed, and the identification of particular phraseologies and idioms is simplified. The new paths of exploration that it opens for those with knowledge of the Kabbalah and Gematria are too numerous to list. The 'Concordance' includes an Introduction by the compiler, Colin D. Campbell, a student and teacher of the Thelemic, Kabbalistic, and Enochian magickal systems, and a Foreword by Crowley biographer and scholar, Dr. Richard Kaczynski. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Future classic
I can think of two reasons why I'm glad to have this book in my library. Firstly, it is a well organized and meticulously prepared study tool which will join the core dozen or so magickal reference books I keep close at hand for study. Secondly, as a collector, this is a book I expect to always be proud to have a first edition of.

In using the book, I have found it to be a nicely organized and carefully thought through in its layout and construction. I get the sense that the effort of producing this book was a labor of love, the result of which has been honed in its utility through the personal use of a careful student.

In Teitan Press' tradition, thankfully continuing under its new stewardship, this is a beautiful hardcover edition, nicely bound and printed, fitting of a honored place in any library. While it is nice to see this edition in print in such a beautiful format, in the future I hope to see it extended to a trade paperback or electronic format. When it becomes more widely available, I expect it will become more indispensable; and those who have this edition will be glad that they had the foresight to have acquired it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Nearly worthless
I hate to have to criticize this book because it is a well-meant effort and I am even thanked in the book's acknowledgments for providing the electronic texts which were used as the source material from which it was generated, but unfortunately it is fundamentally flawed. A true Concordance of the Holy Books of Thelema would cover all of the Books in a single index, so that by looking up a word or phrase you could instantly find all references to it in any of the Books. This is how Concordances are supposed to work; it's how every published Concordance of the Christian Bible works, for example. Whatever you may think of Christianity, it's been around for 2000 years and its scholars have had time to figure out how to do this sort of thing properly. But instead, Mr. Campbell in this book gives us thirteen separate Concordances, one for each Book. Thus, to find every instance of, say, "will" or "Hadit" in the Books, this book requires you to look the word up in thirteen separate indexes. This is particularly silly considering that only a few of the Books are more than a few pages long. Does anyone really need a Concordance to Liber Tzaddi? You could read the whole thing in a few minutes, so who needs an index for it?

The Concordance is useful for the longer texts, such as Liber AL, Liber VII, and Liber LXV, but even then it would be better if the indices were merged. And Mr. Campbell was very sensible to include common phrases as well as individual words. The book is not completely worthless and I don't mean to suggest that it is, but it is badly flawed in a way that would have been avoided if its compiler were more aware of how Concordances are typically arranged and why the traditional, combined form is drastically more useful than what we have here.

5-0 out of 5 stars Indispensable concordance; a must for all Thelemites
The Holy Books of Thelema are the inspired ("Class A") writings of Aleister Crowley, the prophet of the New Æon. In this concordance, Campbell has indexed each Book separately, showing for each entry not only chapter and verse, but also a brief excerpt for context. Every word is listed, whether familiar (e.g., "love" - 39 occurrences in Liber Liberi vel Lapidus Lazuli) or recondite (e.g., "Ahrimanes" - one occurrence in Liber Cordis Cincti Serpente), though for very common words (e.g., "the" - 449 occurrences in Liber AL vel Legis) no context is shown. It even includes astrological symbols, as well as letters and words written in Hebrew and Greek characters.

Students of Thelema will find this long-awaited concordance - the only one on not just Liber AL but all the Holy Books - extremely helpful, if not essential, to their study. Campbell is to be congratulated on this welcome addition to the serious magician's library. ... Read more

Gnostic Kabbalah One: The World of Klipoth - The Inferior Dimensions of Nature, Otherwise Known as Hell

This is the first in a series of courses designed to give a complete introduction to the Initiatic Kabbalah. The World of Klipoth introduces the student to the lowest levels of the Tree of Life, which correspond to the lowest levels of the consciousness. By understanding these levels any student can understand how to ascend the Tree and thereby free themselves of suffering.

"The adverse Sephiroth are the Klipoth; here we find the demons, the souls in penance, the ones that suffer, those that have already finished their cycles of existence and that devolve within time, the fallen Angels, the tenebrous of the lunar path, the black lodge and all of the adepts of the Left-hand Path..."

Chapters include: The Nine Spheres of the Underworld; The Three Demons/Traitors; Limbo (The Moon); The Ray of Creation; Lilith and Nahemah; Mercury; Venus; The Sun; Hell; Mars; Kabbalistic Analysis of The Mahabharata; Jupiter; Saturn; Uranus; Neptune

5-0 out of 5 stars Many Original Insights
This book geared for those who want to study Kabbalah, esotericism, gnosis and the afterlife in a positive manner. Though this is more of an introductory work, if you are not familiar with Samael Aun Weor then you may want to familiarize yourself with his teachings before making the purchase.

Expecting this to be a simple summary of Weor's work, I was surprised to find it to be filled with many very valuable and original insights. For example, the meaning of the number 666 isn't directly explained by other esoteric writers, but you will find an explanation here. Weor wrote much about the differences in the densities of dimensions, and this book provides logical formulas to calculate these densities. Also, there is much original material regarding topics ranging from the true intentions of Karl Marx, to why vampires hate crosses.

Though the subject matter is serious, this book is an enjoyable read which is also good to return to for future reference. I highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent lecture series by Gnostic instructors
The negative reviews of this book seem to have been written by satanists who accidentally stumbled upon it because of Amazon's recommendations (hence their references to being 'suckered,' etc). This is definitely a mistake in Amazon's cross-referencing algorithms (it happens), as the book is obviously not by/for satanists.

In any case, if you are interested in the teachings of Samael Aun Weor (or Gurdjieff, the Dalai Lama, etc), this book offers a comprehensive and systematic elaboration on the details of the various spheres of hell by Gnostic instructors.

The points made in these books are not fun, since we all carry hell within ourselves. To recognize the amount of suffering we create for ourselves and for others through selfishness is not pleasant, but of course it is necessary if we wish to change and begin on a positive and selfless path.Sex is not external to these questions, and by any reasonable inspection, desire and lust are destructive and harmful.Anyone serious about personal spiritual transformation would do well not to avoid confronting these issues within themselves.

Fundamentalists insist that you blindly believe their dogma and remain in ignorance. The teachings of Samael Aun Weor invite you to look within and sincerely examine what you find there ('gnosis' is Greek for 'knowledge,' as in 'know thyself,' the opposite of i-gnorance).The strong languaged used in these lectures turns some people off, but it also helps remind us not to presume that our inherited cultural norms accurately reflect reality.

2-0 out of 5 stars do what it tells you not to...
I was originally going to rate this as a one star...
In terms of the hell regions and the sins described within this book's pages, I would say in the spirit of Mr. LaVey, do the opposite of what this books recommends that you refrain from...but just beware of the consequences to yourself so operate within reason. But for the Qlipoth I would not recommend this book unless you reverse the tree and liberate your so-called sin nature. After all this book refers to self-seeking pleasure and desire as of the Devil and, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with getting to know Dad a little better!

1-0 out of 5 stars the cover really got me
This book is infuriatingly fundamentalist and it is even written in a very pugnacious manner, as if they assumed that the reader would not be like-minded. Save your money and go listen to crazed street preachers instead. There are tiny little black and white pictures of Dore's that i plan to cut out and scrap book, but it's still not worth giving this publisher money over. I wonder how anyone can produce such small minded work with such a subject, ... sigh. I wish I'd read that other review first. it only got one star from me because i couldn't submit this otherwise.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware- don't get suckered by this fundamentalist trap
Boy did I get a fast one pulled on me this time!Disregard the other review..I have a feeling that they're a shill. This book is nothing more than dogmatic and fear-based christianity. There is no real discussion of the klipoth aside from "here's how you need to act to not go to hell."But don't just take my word for it...here are some quotes from their sphere of "Saturn":

"There are many ways to perform violence against the Holy Spirit, but the worst way is in the way of homosexuality. They violate their sexual organs, using the Tabernacle of the Holy Spirit in the wrong way and hating the cross."

"But the homosexuals and lesbians are enemies of the Holy Spirit, they violate the Sabbath, and follow Lilith,"

"But also there is a violence against nature in those who masturbate, they commit violence against their own body, against life, against the Holy Spirit."

"Vasectomy is violence against nature, violence against the Holy Spirit."

"So anybody that follows Marxism is an enemy of the Holy Spirit, and the result of this will be to find yourself in the Seventh Sphere."

"Abortion is a crime against nature- violence against the Holy Spirit, whether it is with or without permission of the state doesn't matter.Even if the whole world votes and approves abortion , it is still violence against the Holy Spirit. Those doctors that perform abortion find themselves in the Seventh Sphere as demons, because only a Demon could think that abortion is good."

I could go on an on with these. There is NO esoteric or even scholarly worth to this book at all.I tend to keep any books I get, even those of opposing viewpoints, but this one is going right into the trash.I'm not even going to sell it to the used book store and try to recoup some of my losses in buying this as I wouldn't wish anyone else to get taken in like I did. It's even poorly written - just a collection of snippets and commandments.I have a feeling that this was an attempt to draw in and convert some of those "satanic" occultists (for instance the "thelema press," technically, I guess, they're right as thelema does have some use in fundamentalist Christianity, but obviously most people who come across the word "thelema" expect something quite different)...it reminds me of a well-advertised haunted house my friends went to which, upon entering, turned out to be nothing but reenactments of biblical scenes, complete with a conversion attempt at the end.Pretty pathetic, guys, if you have to try to trick people into your religion.I realize you need the money lately, but c'mon....
Amazon really should not list this in the same company that it does for the recommendations (with a Peter Carroll book????).Looks like they got suckered, too. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Classic Pathography
Although assuming the appearance of a biography, a pathography can be easily identified by the author's tone- they tend to 'dig for dirt', give whatever negative examples they can which back-up their attitude toward their subject, and lose all objectivity in the process. Painting a negative literary picture of a notorious character is so incredibly easy, it's something I would assume most writers of any self-respect would avoid. The fact is, Crowley was an incredibly complex person, and his character flaws are of the sort which could be attached to almost any public figure- drugs, promiscuous sex, outrageous behaviour etc.. A far superior study of Crowley has already been accomplished by John Symonds, while this hack-job pathography is just an obvious and pitiful attempt by a writer with limited skills to cash-in on the 'Wickedest Man in the World' persona which was a complete invention of the tabloid press. Crowley was no saint, but he was far from a one-dimensional monster. Trash.

1-0 out of 5 stars This author is a Legend in His Own Mind
Wow, what a piece of Cr@p. Is this guy for real?

Aleister Crowley has always been a dangerous man to read and takes a person of wisdom to grasp.

It is ashamed this author has no wisdom. But he certainly does have an agenda.

Don't waste your $$$ or time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Drivel
It would be nice if Amazon would create a "0" star--giving such drivel as this a "1" seems excessive.

1-0 out of 5 stars Oh, please
This book is a joke. Even a brief look at the author's supposed CV (He's actually got the gall to put that he was a National Merit Scholar -- why not put his High School diploma on here as well?), and even more telling, the excerpt printed above:

"Cults, such as Crowley's 'Thelema' are communal totalistic in their organisation."

"Communal totalistic" -- what language is that? Surely not any English you learned in school.

"Cultic attitudes subsist amongst Initiates in 'Thelema' whom fail to see the unity between the 'Method of Science,' and the 'Aim of Religion.'"

"Whom fail to see" -- Oh, I get it, he's channeling Waite. No, I take that back: Waite at least wrote grammatically, for all his turgid prose.

"Love is more than a Light, while swimming in the Crystalline sea of agapæ, the language of both sanity and insanity ignites the stars. Forever and forever and forever."

Good gods... did he steal this from the soundtrack for some anime?

Trust me, you don't want to waste your time on this drivel.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Worst
I bought this book based on the other three reviews listed and boy was I diappointed. This is one of the worst books I have ever read. The author is far too much into himself and his opinion. Instead of seeking the truth of a situation he lists his speculations as fact. Overall the book was not very well researched, nor were it's points very well presented. ... Read more
