Extractions: Look What $25 a Month can do for the Kingdom! $25! What can you do with $25? $25 will almost buy a tank of gasoline; $25 will probably buy a nice meal for a couple in a local restaurant. With $25, one could shop at Wal-Mart and purchase an inexpensive pair of shoes. BUT . . . look what $25 a month will do for the Kingdom of God! The CDEA has researched just how much it costs to plant a church. While the total cost is thousands of dollars, it figures out to just $25 a month to reach one person for Christ through a new church. That is $300 a year! The Chicago District Evangelistic Association would like to invite you to become a Harvest Partner and help to reach at least one person through a new church. Mary is one of the thousands of people reached through a new church. Mary's first contact with a new CDEA church was through the mail. Mary had received the mass mailer cards announcing the birth of North Star Christian Church (in Plainfield, IL). Mary looked at the cards and decided that she would attend at least once, because of her kids. MAry later told us that the main reason she started attending North Star was because her children didn't know the Lord's Prayer. Bill had problems with alcohol. He considered himself a musician but couldn't earn a living at it. Problems with alcohol lead to problems with drugs, which lead to even more severe problems. One day, while watching the morning news, Bill saw the bar he frequented on the news. Someone had entered the bar, angry at life, and shot and killed an innocent man. Bill knew that could have been him who was killed. Bill recognized this as a wake up call to life. Bill started attending a new CDEA church and his getting his life in order.
Extractions: to plant churches in East Africa When he was ordained, Maasai Pastor Joseph Momposhi received a walking stick to signify that he was to walk with the Lord. He also received a war club, called an oriyni, to show that he had spiritual authority to lead his people toward a new relationship with God. Momposhi's work represents an exciting new trend in mission work today. Increasingly, he and other national church leaders are effectively reaching out to unreached people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in partnership with new LCMS mission societies like The East Africa Mission Society (TEAMS), which is made up of three St. Louis, Mo., area congregations. First Row: Pastor Joel Christiansen, Sue Hewitt, Grace Hughey, Pastor Steve Hughey Second Row: Jim Miller, Peter Wille, Pastor Vern Gundermann, Bob Gill, Pastor Steve Hower The group divided into smaller survey groups to visit the Pokot work in northwest Kenya, the Nuer work on the border of Ethiopia and Sudan, and the Maasai work in Southern Kenya. After visiting these three remote sites, the three groups discovered that they all had seen a similar reality. Each had met very dedicated, trained national leaders like Momposhi. Additionally, the national workers at each site were already reaching out to other tribes and communities, but they each needed assistance to expand their work.

CP Missions CP Missions - Partners In The Harvest In the year 2000, the Cooperative Program marks its 75th Anniversary, and to celebrate this historic event, we are pleased to announce a national emphasis. Partners in the Harvest is, first of all, a celebration, recognizing the Cooperative Program's history and accomplishments, and the men and women who have taken the message of salvation to a lost world. But perhaps more importantly, Partners in the Harvest casts a new vision for Southern Baptist missions. As we enter the 21st century, the need for missions has never been more acute, the opportunity never greater. With all of our evangelistic emphasis, there are still millions who have never heard the name of Jesus. To help meet this critical need, we want to launch what could be the greatest missions effort in Southern Baptist history: Partners in the Harvest. We need your help, your prayers, your financial support, but most of all, we need your commitment to lead your church in this important endeavor.
