Extractions: What We Believe A Profile of FEFC A Brief History of our Church As early as 1879 there were Norwegian-language services being held in the Concord, Massachusetts area to minister to the growing Scandinavian community of believers. In the summer of 1919, an evangelist from the Eastern Free Church Association, the Rev. E.M. Anderson, held a series of fruitful tent meetings. The many new believers in Christ sought to join with the established community and the Norwegian Zion Evangelical Free Church , affiliated with the Norwegian-Danish Evangelical Free Church Association , was dedicated in November 1920, with a building on Lang Street in Concord. In the late 1920s the preaching services changed to English as the church reached into the community with the Gospel and the church became known as the Evangelical Free Church of Concord . In 1950 the Norwegian-Danish Evangelical Free Church Association and the Swedish Evangelical Free Church were merged into the Evangelical Free Church of America The present property in Acton, MA was purchased in 1971. Three years later the church began holding services at Conant School in Acton, and established the name

Extractions: Shepherd's Community Church was founded in 1984. This occurred through a church split caused by the original church's unwillingness to adhere to Evangelical doctrine. Shepherd's Community Church originally met in the backyard of one of its' members and then began to rent space at differing schools until June of 1998 when we purchased our present facility. Our Senior Pastors Thompson, who was on staff at Grace To You, the radio ministry of Pastor John MacArthur. Pastor Thompson served first on a part-time basis and then later was hired on full-time so that he could devote himself to the ministry. He began our affiliation with the Evangelical Free Churches of America, changing the name to Shepherd's Evangelical Free Church. He served faithfully for six years until he was called away to pastor another congregation in Northern California. In September of 1990 Pastor Paul Brown was called to serve as the Senior Pastor and continues to this day. When the church moved to its own facility in 1998 the name of the church was changed back to Shepherd's Community Church. The Evangelical Free Church Of America The Evangelical Free Church is an association of more than 1000 autonomous churches joined together by common purposes, principles, and practices. The Free Church also includes a worldwide ministry of more than 600 churches on 12 mission fields.
