This document was originally distributed as a separate monograph in 1983. The paper provides a structure linking reviews of alternation as it emerges in studies from a wide range of sources. The paper is in 9 separate parts. Introduction / Abstract Monopolarization References The philosopher Stephane Lupasco has explored the nature of antagonistic dualities (147). He shows that knowing is intimately associated with such duality and takes place by actualizing one of the terms of the duality and virtualizing the contradictory one. In this way only a monism is knowable, especially in science, even though it is the dualism which is the "motor" for this process. That by which we know illuminates a contradictory order whose contradictory nature is not apparent. In this way the proper object of scientific knowledge can only be extension - affirmation, permanence, conservation, and identity. The knowledge is brought about by the negation of

Extractions: On the basis of an ethnopsychological research work on two Rumanian rural populations which share the same language, confession and territory and still are "systematically" different, the author develops a reflection on difference. Interpreting psychological and cultural expressions of difference according to Stéphane Lupasco's princip of dynamic antagonism he identifies their dynamics of antagonistic homogeneization and suggests the existence of an "ideal dynamics" proper to the "human system". Refering to "classical" anthropological problems and theories he finally questions about a general princip of production of "psychological" differences in the sense used by Lévi-Strauss who considers ethnology as a psychology.

After graduating from the National Conservatory of Music in Bucharest, she obtained a degree from the Paris Sorbonne in 1992. In 1994, she was awarded the Grand Prize in Composition from the Romanian Academy. Since 1988, Avram has maintained a close collaboration with Iancu Dumitrescu, but she has also continued to forge her own direction in music. She is considered to be one of the most important Romanian composers of her generation. Her music incorporates the outward semblance of sonic abstraction, reaching it's full development in the synthesis of electroacoustic and instrumental sources. Her music is published by Edition Modern and Electrecord (Bucharest), ArtGallery and Radio France (Paris), ReR Megacorp (London), and Musicworks (Toronto), and has been performed in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Stanford, Vienna (at the Wien Modern Festival in 1992 and 1994), Paris (at Radio France and the Theatre de la Ville), London (at the Royal Festival Hall), Nancy, Allicante, Lisbon, Baden-Baden, Darmstadt, Belgrade, Cluj-Napoca, and Bucharest. Avram's works have been commissioned by prestigious ensembles such as the Kronos Quartet; Vienna's 20 Jahrhundert,; soloists from l'Orchestre National de France; the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra; the Romanian National Orchestra; the Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra; L'Orchestre de Chambre de Roumanie; and others.

Four famous friends: Mircea Eliade, Eugen Ionescu, Emil Cioran, Constantin Noica. A recent consequence of the erroneous understanding of the West/Est opposition In general there are not many writers to admit to have models. Eugen Ionesco cuts a distinct figure. In his Jurnal en miettes he openly admits his descent from Ion Luca Caragiale (1852-1919) and Urmuz (1883-1923). He also mentions that he was influenced by the surrealist poets and especially by Tristan Tzara. The memory of his youth, nostalgia for the country where he had first met with literary success and, maybe, a certain amount of vainglory make him state in an interview that Romania gave France a great many celebrities: Anne de Noailles (born Princess Brincoveanu), Constantin Brancusi, George Enescu, Stefan Lupascu (Stephane Lupasco) Panait Istrati, Barbu Fundoianu (Benjamin Fondane), Ilarie Voronca, D. Trost, Isidor Isou, Tristan Tzara, Mircea Eliade, Emil Cioran. The mere number of these names proves that the Romanians have not remained on the fringes of European culture. Reading practically in all the important modern language, the Romanians were allways in an intimate contact with the world of culture. By translating the masterpieces of the other european literatures, the have them made well known in Roumania, as has did all his life the eminent translator Dan Dutescu (1918-1993), at his time professor of english at the Bucharest University, and many other gifted translators.

Extractions: This article is based on my intellectual and spiritual journey during the last forty years and on my experience in adult continuing education, as director of educational courses educational leading to the DUFA (adult teacher educator certificate) at Paris VIII university over the last twenty years. Adult teachers are educationalist who have questioned their own representations of themselves as instructors, teachers and adult educators. They are essentially and functionally products of their society and of the education which they have received. So they have had to go through a kind of cultural uprooting in order to develop themselves through a range of human and social encounters, often marginal ones, with remarkable beings. During this period of self training, they have learnt to question in different ways : questioning knowledge, questioning the know how, questioning the know where , questioning the know how to be . Three types of doubts drive him constantly :
