Åren 1906-07 hade hon givit ur boken om Nils Holgerssons underbara resa. 1911. Medicin- eller fysiologipriset. A Gullstrand. Ögonläkaren Alvar Gullstrand gjorde nya upptäckter gällande ljusstrålarnas brytning och skapade utifrån den kunskapen nya undersökningsinstrument. Fann även att ögats gula fläck var färglös på den levande människan. 1912. Fysikpriset. Gustaf Dalén. Han blev belönad för sina uppfinningar förknippade med fyrbelysningen, klippapparaten och dalénblandaren. 1916. Litteraturpriset. Verner von Heidenstam. Han utgav året innan han fick nobelpriset sitt klassiska verk "Nya dikter". 1921. Fredspriset. Karl Hjalmar Branting fick fredspriset samtidigt med norrmannen Ch L Lange.

Ett råkallt Stockholm med öppna vatten, nysnö på taken och med flaggor på viktiga platser i staden: På Arvsfurstens palats, nationalmuseum och Grand Hotell - där för övrigt Nobelpristagarna genom åren inkvarterats. Huvudstaden välkomnade de första pristagarna och festligheter 1901. De möttes med ståt och gala. Man ville här hemma ge de främmande besökarna en bild av renlighet och snygghet. Överståthållaren hade förordat att staden var fejad och proper. Lort-Sverige instängdes bakom plyschgardiner och fönsterluckor. Inga kolingar tilläts visa upp sig i sina pittoreska fysionomier för pristagarna - Fransmannen och litteratur pristagaren Sully Prudhomme, exelensen Tysken von Rehring medicin pristagaren liksom fysik pristagaren Wilhelm Röntgen skulle inte se något klandervärt ute på gatorna. Gamle kung Oskar, de ståtliga formernas och festligheternas representant - tidens monark - tillhörde uppvaktningen. Det hade tagit Nobelstiftelsen fem år efter att Nobels testamente offentliggjordes innan nobelprisen började delas ut. Nobels kvarlåtenskap hade den ansenliga summan av: 33 233 792 kr och 20 öre. Av den summan hade endast smärre avdrag gjorts till kusinbarn, och medarbetare. Alfred Nobel var utan överdrift kallad, 'den förmögnaste ungkarlen i Europa'.
