The Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics (LHEA) is recognized world wide as a center of excellence and leadership in cosmic-ray, X-ray and gamma-ray astrophysics. With the recent addition of a Gravitational Wave Astrophysics group, the LHEA is now ready to support the development of the LISA mission. LHEA scientists working with GSFC engineers and technicians have pioneered state of the art instrumentation that has lead to many breakthrough discoveries. The development of successful partnerships with the University community, other government labs and international institutions has been a vital part of this success. The LHEA astrophysicists study a wide range of exotic phenomenon including black holes, neutron stars and white dwarfs, supernova remnants, gamma ray bursts, coronae of nearby stars, and the large scale structure of the Universe. The LHEA also provides a substantial service role to support the community in science operations and data analysis. This includes promoting and helping the community use of the data from missions associated with the labs programs. This includes the High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center ( HEASARC ) which is responsible for archiving data from NASA's X-ray and Gamma ray astronomy missions.

BUSINESS pages: advertising a mix of editorial and technical services for a predominantly scientific clientele TECHNICAL pages: supporting a couple of already-started projects (including an Iraqi peace activism project), and so of interest mainly to the particular associates already involved; not directly relevant to prospective clients QUASI-LITERARY pages: archiving writings on several unrelated themes, including the indexing of tomorrow's Web-delivered World Wide Library, current best practices in Web development, the core-American-values case for restraint in Iraq, Catholic homosexual chastity, Canadian railway travel, and the future of TeX typesetting under XML; conceivably useful to anyone, whether prospective client, established associate, or casual visitor "Strenuous labour and the contemplation of God's cosmos are the reconciling, encouraging, yet necessarily severe angels destined to be my guides through the tumult of life." - the young Einstein "Since his primary aim was union with God, the material results of his work were less important to [a certain kind of medieval Catholic] than the growth in virtue that accompanied them. Undistracted by desire for visible success and fear of failure, [he] was able to concentrate all his energies upon the task at hand. He was freed from the enticements and terrors of the world and its values and from the tyranny of his own passions by his desire for God. Refusing to be the slave of the material universe, he became its master. As a result, he moved in serenity. A leisure of spirit marked all he did with the sign of freedom and peace." -

Astrophysics Data Facility
The Astrophysics Data Facility (ADF), located at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) , is responsible for designing, developing, and operating data systems that support the processing, management, archiving and distribution of NASA mission data. The ADF serves three broadly-defined astrophysics disciplines: high-energy astrophysics, UV/optical astrophysics, and infrared/submillimeter/radio astrophysics. The ADF, part of the Space Science Data Operations Office (SSDOO) , collaborates with the GSFC Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics (LHEA) and the Laboratory for Astronomy and Solar Physics (LASP) in managing data for specific missions. The ADF staff also support the astrophysics community's access to multi-mission and multi-spectral data archives in the National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) ADF ISO 9001 links SSDOO: Space Science Data Operations Office Homepage GSFC: Goddard Space Flight Center Homepage NASA: National Aeronautics and Space Administration Homepage

The Astrophysics Data System (ADS) is a NASA-funded project which maintains four bibliographic databases containing more than 3.3 million records: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Instrumentation, Physics and Geophysics, and preprints in Astronomy. The main body of data in the ADS consists of bibliographic records, which are searchable through our Abstract Service query forms , and full-text scans of much of the astronomical literature which can be browsed though our Browse interface
For more information, please read our page detailing the Terms and Conditions regulating the use of our resources.
In addition to its databases, the ADS provides access and pointers to a wealth of external resources, including electronic articles, data catalogs and archives.
The importance of ADS's role in supporting the scientific community has been recognized by societies and individuals . If you wish to acknowledge us in a publication, kindly use a phrase such as the following:
