Zoroastrian ZCards @ Zubin.Com The Zoroastrian ZCards site is dedicated to ZCards for the world's Zoroastrian Community. Zoroastrians are followers of the prophet Zarathushtra (or "Zoroaster" as known by the Germans). Zarathushtra is known to have lived and preached about 3500 years ago - circa 1500BC; and Zoroastrianism is thought by many scholars to be the oldest surviving religion in the world today. For more information on Zoroastrianism, click here If you happened on this page looking for other cards, you *may* be able to find them HERE The July 19, 2003 issue of the Chicago Tribune featured the Zoroastrian ZCards as part of their story on electronic greeting cards for minority religions. Medieval Sourcebook:
The Zoroastrian Creed
The Zoroastrian Creed
The Creed is a very ancient prayer, parts of which are recited every day by Zoroastrians. Notice the chant-like repetition in the verses and the many holy aspects which the creed mentions, such as asha (fire). The creed also reinforces, first a hostility toward evil, and then a love of good. What other issues seem to have been important for the composer of the Creed? 1. I curse the Daevas. I declare myself a Mazda-worshipper, a supporter of Zarathushtra, hostile to the Daevas, fond of Ahura's teaching, a praiser of the Amesha Spentas, a worshipper of the Amesha Spentas. I ascribe all good to Ahura Mazda, 'and all the best,' the Asha-owning one, splendid, xwarena-owning, whose is the cow, whose is Asha, whose is the light, 'may whose blissful areas be filled with light'. 2. I choose the good Spenta Armaiti (Holy Spirit) for myself; let her be mine. I renounce the theft and robbery of the cow, and the damaging and plundering of the Mazdayasnian settlements. 3.I want freedom of movement and freedom of dwelling for those with homesteads, to those who dwell upon this earth with their cattle. With reverence for Asha, and (offerings) offered up, I vow this: I shall nevermore damage or plunder the Mazdayasnian settlements, even if I have to risk life and limb.

Zoroastrian Prophecies Fulfilled
The Zoroastrian Scriptures, like those of all the other world religions, contain Messianic Prophecies foretelling the future appearance of a "redeemer". "He shall be the victorious Benefactor (Saoshyant) by name and World-renovator [Astavat-ereta] by name. He is Benefactor because he will benefit the entire physical world; he is World- renovator because he will establish the physical living existence indestructible. He will oppose the evil of the progeny of the biped and withstand the enmity produced by the faithful." - Zoroastrianism- Avesta, Farvardin Yast 13.129 A statement attributed to one of the Zoroastrian Scriptures contains one of the most explicit prophecies identifying the TIME when this "World-renovator" will appear. "When a thousand two hundred and some years have passed from the inception of the religion of the Arabian (Muhammad) and the overthrow of the kingdom of Iran and the degradation of the followers of My religion, a descendant of the Iranian kings (Baha'u'llah) will be raised up as a Prophet."

Zoroastrian Prayers Zoroastrian Prayer for Peace
We pray to God to eradicate all the
misery in the world:
that understanding triumph
over ignorance,
that generosity triumph over indifference,
that trust triumph over contempt, and that truth triumph over falsehood. A Zoroastrian Prayer
With bended knees, with hands outstretched,
do I yearn for the effective expression of the holy spirit
working within me:
For this love and understanding, truth and justice;
for wisdom to know the apparent from the real
that I might alleviate the sufferings of men on earth...
God is love, understanding, wisdom and virtue.
Let us love one another, let us practice mercy and forgiveness,
let us have peace, born of fellow-feeling. . . .
Let my joy be of altruistic living, of doing good to others.
Happiness is unto him from who happiness proceeds to any other human being.

Faravahar (or Farohar) from the ruins of Persepolis Since November 16, 1996, this page has been visited times. We have been rated a Welcome to the Stanford University Zoroastrian Group's World Wide Web home page. Our first year of re-existance at Stanford was a very interesting one. The high point, of course, was the Seventh North American Zoroastrian Youth Conference (ZYC '95). Held here at Stanford over the 4th of July weekend, the congress was attended by more than 300 Zoroastrian youths (age 13 - 45) from the US and Canada; youths from a few other countries outside North America, including England and Australia, were also able to join us. You can find more information on the congress in the Sunday, July 2nd edition of the San Jose Mercury News. This year we plan to be a bit more active on campus. We'd also like to increase our interaction with other student groups. If you'd like to contact us, please email Maneck Bhujwala at:

Arguably one of the oldest of the monotheistic faiths, Zoroastrianism is based on the teachings of the Prophet Zarathushtra. Zoroastrianism was the dominant religion of the Persian Empires based on the scriptures, the Avestas, and dealing with devotion to Ahura Mazda, the one god. Zoroastrianism is still practiced today, mainly in parts of Iran and India, but has followers around the world. ZOROASTRIAN DUALIST COSMOGONY:
OHRMAZD AND AHRIMAN
Greater Bundahishn The story of the two primal Spirits and the creation of the world is recounted in greatest detail in the first chapter of a ninth-century Pahlavi book known as the 'Bundahishn' or '(Book of) the Primal Creation.' The limitation of Time is Ohrmazd's first creative act, for he saw that if Ahriman were to be destroyed, be would have to be lured out of eternity, actualized in finite time, and forced into the open. Ohrmazd, before the act of creation, was not Lord; after the act of creation he became Lord, eager for increase, wise, free from adversity, manifest, ever ordering aright, bounteous, all-perceiving. [First he created the essence of the gods, fair (orderly) movement, that genius by which he made his own body better] for he had conceived of the act of creation; from this act of creation was his lordship. And by his dear vision Ohrmazd saw that the Destructive Spirit would never cease from aggression and that his aggression could only be made fruitless by the act of creation, and that creation could not move on except through Time and that when Time was fashioned, the creation of Ahriman too would begin to Move. And that he might reduce the Aggressor to a state of powerlessness, having no alternative he fashioned forth Time. And the reason was this, that the Destructive Spirit could not be made powerless unless he were brought to battle. . . .

79. A MAZDEAN (ZOROASTRIAN) SACRIFICE TO THE SUN
A MAZDEAN (zoroastrian) SACRIFICE TO THE SUN. ('Khorshed Yasht,' 15).1. We sacrifice unto the undying, shining, swift-horsed Sun.
http://alexm.here.ru/mirrors/www.enteract.com/jwalz/Eliade/094.html
A MAZDEAN (ZOROASTRIAN) SACRIFICE TO THE SUN
Khorshed Yasht 1. We sacrifice unto the undying, shining, swift-horsed Sun. When the light of the sun waxes warmer, when the brightness of the sun waxes warmer, then stand up the heavenly Yazatas, by hundreds and thousands, they gather together its Glory, they make its Glory, they make its Glory pass down, they pour its Glory unto the earth made by Ahura, for the increase of the world of holiness, for the increase of the creatures of holiness, for the increase of the undying, shining, swift-horsed Sun. 2. And when the sun rises up, then the earth, made by Ahura, becomes clean, the running waters become clean, the waters of the wells become clean, the waters of the sea become clean, the standing waters become clean; and the holy creatures, the creatures of the Good Spirit, become clean.
3. Should not the sun rise up, then the Daevas would destroy all the things that are in the seven Karshvares, nor would the heavenly Yazatas find any way of withstanding or repelling them in the material world. 4. He who offers up a sacrifice unto the undying, shining, swifthorsed Sun-to withstand darkness, to withstand the Daevas born of darkness, to withstand the robbers and bandits, to withstand the Yatus and Pairikas, to withstand death that creeps in unseen- offers it up to Ahura Mazda, offers it up to the Amesha-Spentas, offers it up to his own soul. He rejoices all the heavenly and worldly Yazatas, who offers up a sacrifice unto the undying, shining, swift-horsed Sun
