ABOUT KEMETIC RELIGION
Em hotep! - In peace! Padineba'a , my Kemetic name, means "He who is Given by the Great God". This 'Great God' is Amun-Ra, my father(s) in Kemetic religion. I was blessed with the gift of this name by the Nisut AUS of the Kemetic Orthodox faith, as a birthday gift in December of the year 2000. (Right) The name of my Lord, Amun-Ra, in Kemetic script. My religion is the modern rebirth of the faith that was practiced for thousands of years in the land that we now call Egypt. Kemetic means "the Black Land", and it is the name by which ancient Egyptians refered to their land. Among the modern traditions that seek to revive this ancient faith, Kemetic Orthodoxy is the most conservative one, and it is very true to the original form of religion practiced in Kemet. It is *not* a New Age or eclectic religion, as Kemeticism was very much concerned with safeguarding the status quo and with stability and order! Kemetic religion has much in common with the worship of deities, and the theology of Hinduism. The parallels are many. This is perhaps due to the fact that both are among the religions that worship God in many names and forms that have flourished and evolved consistently for thousands of years. Kemetic Shemsu (=followers) believe in the One True God (Netjer), who manifests itself through many Names (the Netjeru, plural of Netjer). These Names of Netjer have their distinct personalities, likes and dislikes, qualities and ways in which they manifest that are peculiar to each. They are not merely 'god of mummies', 'god of rebellion', 'goddess of love, or motherhood', etc. They are much more complex than that. There is much information about Kemetic Orthodoxy and the Names of Netjer online. I would encourage anyone interested in learning more about Kemetic Orthodoxy to take a look at the

  • Conducting research on the Kemetic (Egyptian) pyramids and examine their geometric, symbolic and spiritual relationship. To execute a three-dimensional tetrahedron or triangular pyramid kite with kemetic symbols/motifs on the sides.
Background Information: Egypt, called Kemet (KMT) by the Africans, was a Black nation. The unification of Upper and Lower Kemet into one nation began the Dynastic era of Kemet. In the first 1,000 years of Dynastic Kemet during the first six Dynasties, most of the pyramids were built. Imhotep, a genius, designed the first pyramid for King Djoser as his burial place. Pyramids are symbols of life, perfection, knowledge, and communal effort. The largest pyramid of all is the "Great Pyramid" at Giza, built for King Khufu. The Great Pyramid contains over 2.3 million limestones, each as large as 10-15 tons. Limestone, a self cleaning stone, was used to build most of the pyramids. Kemetic art and architecture was directly related to its functional intent. Robert and Deborah Lawlor, translators for author Schwaller de Lubicz, state:

Origin
Isis, or Aset, as the original, ancient Egyptian name seem to have been, goes far back into history. I will from now on use the Kemetic Name of Aset instead of the Greek name Isis.
The Name of Aset
Aset, or Ay-see as it is believed to have been, is written with the hieroglyph for "throne" or "seat". This indicates that She was seen as the one Who supported the king and from which he rose. She was the King-maker. This was the case in early African cultures and is still to some degree today. So Aset can be taken to mean "The Seat/Throne" of the king. Thereby she was the KingĀ“s symbolical mother and as such of special significance to him, but in these early days she was not a mother goddess whom everyone turned to.

Difference Aset-Isis - Origin The Name of Aset Great of Heka Mortuary Deity ... Aset in the Late Period
ASET - The Difference - ISIS
ISIS or her more ancient Egyptian name ASET , seems like two different deities if you take a closer look. When the worship of ISIS rose in Greek and Roman days, ASET had already been forgotten for hundreds of years, at this time only a small group of priests still knew how to read the hieroglyphs of the temple walls. The Greek and Roman way of superimposing their cultural values on Egyptian culture affected the interpretation of the original ASET , depriving her of her Egyptian origin and turning her into Roman deity. The most outstanding difference between them is in my opinion the fierceness of Aset which we can find in the myths, along with her role as a funerary deity. This is not so with Isis who is a much more benevolent and one-size-fits-all kind of a deity.
This image shows an almost schematic picture of how Aset merged with Isis.

There are different groups that fall into what is considered the Kemetic religion. We refer to our particular faith tradition as the traditional religion of Ancient Egypt. The Per Ankh sisterhood of temples and its web sites reflect this faith tradition. There are different views of what exactly is the Kemetic religion. The following is from the understanding of the Per Ankh temple. The Kemetic Religion As the Ancient Egyptian religion is one of the traditional religions of Africa. we share with these great faiths the style and approach to religious experience, rituals, and life. However, as the historical continuity with our ancestors has been broken, we share with reconstructionist religions in utilizing scholarly methods to re-create the structures, rites, and practices; our aim is to literally preserve rituals as fully as possible. While trying to keep our religion as closely to the religion of Ancient Egypt, we use methods of religious studies, philosophy, and theology to apply what we have learned to contemporary times.

The Kemetic Religion
by Barbara Ann
From: http://www.hethert.org/ and http://www.kemet.org/ The Kemetic people were said by the Greek historian Herodotus to have been the most religious people in the world. They did not even have a special word for "religion," because for them it was an intrinsic part of their lives, not something to be done a couple of times a year or even just once a week. Homes had shrines in a place of honor, and prayers and offerings were left there on a daily basis. Ancestral busts or stelae were set up in niches in the walls, where prayers and offerings were also given to deceased relatives who watched over their descendants with love. Community festivals honored the Appearance of God, when the temple icon was taken in procession, and visits were often made to cemeteries to honor the blessed dead. As in other African indigenous religions, the Kemetic people understood the idea of a Parent Name. This was one of the aspects of Netjer which had chosen that person at birth, had spoken the person into existence and given that person a soul. This Parent Name watches over and guides a person's life, and all people on earth have a Parent Name, regardless of their religion. In Ancient Kemet, a person was most probably divined at birth to determine the Parent Name. This can be seen in the theophoric names (those containing the name of a deity) that were so common in Ancient Egypt, such as Ptahhotep ("Ptah is pleased") or Sat-Hathor-Iunet ("The Daughter of Hathor of Dendera").

Art in the form of painting, sculpture, jewelry, and architecture is used not only to beautify but to honor a particular Name of Netjer or portray Kemetic ideals. The act of personally creating an item and the thought that went into it are just as important as what the item looks like. I collect replicas of Kemetic painting, statuary, jewelry, and other art forms. In addition, I have made original images of several Netjeru using the computer and some replicas of ancient jewelry and ritual tools. Below are several examples along with a brief explanation. All of the images are original and based on ancient sources with some modern interpretation. Some Notes and Comments Names of various Netjeru are given in their original Kemetic version, the commonly known Greek translations are given in parenthesis once to clarification. A complete list of these Kemetic names can be found at the House of Netjer web site or in many books about Egyptian mythology. These pictures are property of Harold Bailey, please get permission if you wish to use them on your web pages. I don't mind sharing them, just let me know ahead of time. Thanks.

Behind the spectacular monuments and exotic artifacts surviving in museums today is a culture, religion, and way of life that is as valid today as it was thousands of years ago. The religion of Kemet is still alive today amongst devoted followers of Netjer, the Supreme God of Kemet. The ideals of Kemetic life, governed by the principal of Maat, can offer a great deal to modern society. Finally, there is an inherent beauty and attraction to Kemetic things. The art and symbols of Kemet are becoming ever more popular. As a modern follower of the Kemetic religion and culture, I am proud to share some of my own research, thoughts, and creative work relating to my pathway. The more knowledge that is shared about this great culture, the stronger it becomes and the more accepted it will be. I began researching and choose to follow the Kemetic religion in some fashion years ago and recently became a member of the House of Netjer, a modern temple devoted to the restoration of the Kemetic religion as a living, practiced faith. I have recently made the formal commitment to follow the Kemetic religion and underwent the rites of Shemsuhood, in which I received my name Yashu-senu and found my Parent Names, Tehuti and Asar . This marks the transition of my interest in Kemet from a serious hobby and spiritual interest to a true life-long devotion. Below are links to more information about the House of Netjer and my experiences with the reconstructed Kemetic culture and religion:
