Rajagopal was educated in Madras, India. He graduated in 1925 from the Madras Presidency College with Honours in mathematics. He spent a short while in the clerical service, another short while teaching in Annamalai University then, from 1931 to 1951, he taught in the Madras Christian College. Here he gained an outstanding reputation as a teacher of classical analysis. In 1951 Rajagopal was persuaded to join the Ramanujan Institute of Mathematics then, four years later, he became head of the Institute. Under his leadership the Institute became the major Indian mathematics research centre. Rajagopal studied sequences, series, summability. He published 89 papers in this area generalising and unifying Tauberian theorems. He also studied functions of a complex variable giving an analogue of a theorem of Landau on partial sums of Fourier series . In several papers he studied the relation between the growth of the mean values of an entire function and that of its Dirichlet series.

    Steven G. Krantz
Series: Carus Mathematical Monographs The book provides the readers with a clear vision of how the subject of Fourier analysis has developed and where it is heading. all of this is done in a transparent and delightful style. The book is warmly recommended to every mathematician, engineer, graduate student and even adventurous undergraduates who intend to become familiar with the powerful and versatile tools of modern harmonic analysis, and to keep pace with up-to-date developments of the subject. ––Zentrallblatt für Mathematik Steven Krantz is an expert author. His book is written in a clear style and there are many comments which make the text very readable. ––Mathematical Reviews Steven Krantz’s contribution is a first-class addition to this outstanding series...A Panorama of Harmonic Analysis is well-titled and well-placed in the Carus Monograph series. The reader provides a most-readable tour of harmonic analysis from its beginnings in the 1800s to its current stage of evolution. ––Crux Mathematicorum Steven Krantz has written a remarkable book that leads the reader on a tour of Euclidean harmonic analysis from its genesis to the frontiers of recent research. It can be warmly recommended to professionals, graduate students, and adventurous undergraduates who want to know what this beautiful subject is about.

    GENERAL PURPOSE
To provide the materials necessary to support the undergraduate and graduate course instruction program in Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, the graduate thesis research program and the research activities of the Faculty. In certain areas of study, where necessary to accomplish these objectives, the Department is building comprehensive research collections.
    Languages
Most monographs and periodical material selected is in English, but French, German and Russian language monographs and periodicals are also acquired in large numbers. Monographs and Serials in other languages are acquired infrequently.
Monographs in non-Western languages are selected least of all, but Periodicals such as Scientia Sinica are definitely selected, since a great number of the articles they contain are in Western languages.
    Geographical Areas
Materials are collected from all parts of the world, but mostly from the United States and Western Europe.

    ONE-SIDED TAUBERIAN THEOREMS
    FOR DIRICHLET SERIES
    METHODS OF SUMMABILITY
    DAVID BORWEIN, WERNER KRATZ
    Abstract:
We extend recently established two-sided or -Tauberian results concerning the summability method based on the Dirichlet series
to one-sided Tauberian results. More precisely, we formulate one-sided Tauberian conditions, under which -summability implies convergence. Our theorems contain various known results on power series methods of summability and, in the so-called high index case we even obtain a new result for such methods. Our method of proof uses asymptotic properties of the Dirichlet series subject to the assumption that and can be interpolated by smooth functions. In addition we develop refined Vijayaraghavan-type results which enable us to infer the boundedness of sequences from the boundedness of their -means and the one-sided Tauberian conditions.
