In the novel Frankenstein As a young child, Victor Frankenstein is innocent and happy. As he states, "No youth could have passed more happily than mine. My parents were indulgent and my companions amiable. Our studies were never forced; and by some means we always had an end placed in view, which excited us to ardour in the prosecution of them" . When he reaches thirteen, however, he discovered the works of Cornelius Agrippa. Victor amazed by the teachings of Agrippa communicates his feelings to his father who says, "Ah! Cornelius Agrippa! My dear Victor, do not waste your time upon this; it is sad trash" . Agrippa published his famous book titled De occulta philosophia in 1531, during his time spent in Europe De occulta philosophia , Secret Philosophy, and De vanitate scientiarum , Of the Vanity of the Sciences, reflects his feelings on the scientific and general activity of his time. Agrippa says, "Only with difficulty have I liberated myself from the delusion of those who see in external events direct spiritual processes, in external facts prophetic hints about the future, …" Bibliography -Shelley, Mary.

CLEVELAND PUBLIC LIBRARY
Libellus Magicus
a nineteenth-century manuscript of conjurations NOTES Agla . A term derived from Qabbalistic literature and widely used in demonological texts as a power word for the exorcism of demons. The word appears in many of the old grimoires, and is found also in such popular contexts as Reginald SCOT in connection with a ritual knife used in both conjuration and exorcism. The word is made from the initial letters of the Hebraic Athah gabor leolam, Adonai ('Thou art powerful and eternal, Lord'). (from Gettings, Fred. Dictionary of Demons: A Guide to Demons and Demonologists in Occult Law. (London: Rider, 1988), p. 25)
Agrippa, Heinrich Cornelius. Born in Cologne in 1486, Agrippa studied philosophy, theology, and medicine in Paris, meanwhile acquiring a tremendous knowledge of occult sciences... ...he wrote On the Nobility and Pre-eminence of the Feminine Sex , commented on the work De verbo mirifico (1494) by the German humanist Reuchlin (1455-1522) an attempt, under the influence of Neoplatonic philosophy and Pico della Mirandola, to blend Cabala and Christianity and began the De occulta philosophia , his main work.

Biographies of alchemists and hermetic philosophers
These 72 biographies are a subset I have extracted from the Rice University Catalog of the Scientific Community in the 16th and 17th Centuries , a collection of 631 detailed biographies on members of the scientific community during the 16th and 17th centuries with vital facts about each individual and their contributions to science, compiled by the late Richard S. Westfall, Professor in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at Indiana University. While the scope of Dr. Westfall's research is immense, the information is concise and very well organized.

    Achelis
In The Matriarchate; or, Woman in the Past , Gage writes, "In an able article on ethnology, Dr. Th. Achelis says: 'The complete agreement of accounts of tribes bearing no relationship to one another no longer leaves it a matter of doubt that blood relationship through a common mother must take the place of the patriarchal family as the fundamental form of development.' "
  • Abigail Smith Adams
Letter writer, women's rights advocate, farmer, and patriot. Educated by her grandmother and by her own readings from the family library, Adams took almost complete responsibility for running the family farm while her husband, John (who would later become President of the United States), was away attending to his political interests. Probably Abigail's best known letter implored her husband to "Remember the Ladies" by improving their legal rights in the new country.

Cornelius Agrippa and Cabalistic Language Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim Report Compiled by DC. On 11/8/99, I received an e-mail from Ben Rock of Haxan Films. Mr. Rock suggested that I check out Cornelius Agrippa and the Cabalistic Language to decipher the symbols in the Rustin Parr House. The following is a result of that research. Heinrich Cornelius was born in 1486, Cologne, Germany. Agrippa enrolled in the Faculty of Arts at Cologne University and received his License in the Arts on 14.III.1502. He assumed the name Cornelius Agrippa in 1503. He boasted of an international reputation as an astrologer and necromancer. Most of his career is unknown, obscured by legends, of which there are many. Agrippa was said to be a practicing Demonic as well as a black magician. Other legends claim that he was a vampire. He was imprisoned by French authorities in 1534 and died shortly after his release in 1535. There are legends that he survived and made it to the New World, but there is no supporting evidence. One of Agrippa's two writings is entitled, De Occulta Philosophia (Occult Philosophy). This book combined magic, astrology, Quabbalah, theurgy, medicine and occult properties of plants, rocks and metals. This work was an important factor in the spread of the idea of Occult Sciences.

    Hello Vern,
Call me Doc. Perhaps I can be of service? I have collected a great deal of information on Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa Von Nettesheim. Much of it is unpublished. It reveals the truth about the vampire Agrippa.
This Rembrandt engraving of Agrippa was made 100 years after his supposed death.
The truth is, my friend, that Agrippa did not die in 1535, as so many believe. His story is far more bizarre than anyone supposes
I have other documentation on Agrippa, including the most compelling evidence of all
