Thomson, Sir Joseph John
John Thomson est un physicien anglais. Il est né en 1856 au Manchester, en Angleterre. Lorsqu'il fut plus âgé, ses parents l'envoyèrent étudier au "Trinity College" à Cambridge où il apprit les propriétés électriques de la matière. Quelques années plus tard, il entra dans un autre collège pour terminer ses études et par la suite, vers l'âge de vingt-huit ans, il devint professeur de physique expérimentale. Il y enseignera pendant environ 42 ans et finira par devenir directeur. Il sera également professeur à l'institut Royal de Londres et sera nommé président de la Société royale.
