Star Formation By Jon A. Covey, B.A, MT(ASCP)
Edited by Anita K. Millen, M.D., M.P.H., M.A. On a 1993 KKLA broadcast, Dr. Hugh Ross, a Ph.D. graduate of the University of Toronto and Christian astrophysicist who believes in a 15-20 billion-year-old, big-bang initiated universe, debated Dr. Duane Gish, a Christian biochemist who believes in a specially-created, young universe. When I called in with an objection to his assertions concerning star formation, Dr. Ross referred me to a book by Cox and Giuli, a massive, two-volume work on astrophysics published in 1968, implying that the information therein would refute my objections. After reading the relevant portions of their book, I found that they did not support his statements at all and did support my objections. In fact, you will see below, they strongly deny Ross' claims. Stars cannot form naturally. They must be created directly by God. Most astronomers say that stars form from gravitationally contracting nebular gases despite the fact that star formation has never been observed. Isn't observation a requirement of the scientific method? The assertions of modern cosmology (study of the universe) are often a matter of inferences and opinion rather than fact. What actually happens behind that murk is anyone's guess. Alan Boss spoke in these terms:

Scientists unravel the kinks in solar waves
NASA/JPL NEWS RELEASE

Posted: March 29, 2001
Kinks in the Sun's magnetic field have puzzled scientists since they first started studying the solar wind, and now researchers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif., have found the reason: they are caused by the evolution of a type of magnetic wave called Alfven waves.
Artist's concept of Ulysses. Photo: ESA
Scientists measured sudden changes in the Sun's magnetic field with the magnetometer instrument on the Ulysses spacecraft, which is orbiting the Sun's poles at a distance between Jupiter and Mars. Ulysses has been studying the Sun since 1990 and has just finished studying the south pole of the Sun at solar maximum, a time of great activity. "Over the poles of the Sun, we saw abrupt decreases in the magnetic field," said JPL's Dr. Bruce Tsurutani, a co-investigator on the magnetometer instrument on Ulysses. "We did not know what they were, because we had never seen anything like it before. Now we know that the disturbance is caused by Alfven waves." Scientists expected to find that either the field magnitude remained the same, though the angle changed, or that the magnitude changed, with no fields threading across the structure, said Tsurutani. Instead, they found that the ends of Alfven waves always have both rotational and tangential characteristics.

The Plasma Connection
Nobel-Prize Laureate Hannes Alfven is the undisputed champion and father of plasma physics. One of his most important contributions to science is his finding that electromagnetic phenomena (specifically the behavior of electrified gasses known as plasmas, considered to be a fourth state of matter) can be scaled up or down to infinity. As Eric Lerner writes in his book about Plasma Cosmology, The Big Bang Never Happened www.padrak.com/ine/ELEWIS7.html Edwards ultimately concludes that all phenomena are plasmoidal in nature. Certainly many are. As reported in the May 20, 1990 issue of the London Observer objects could be something more like plasma instead. This not only goes for UFOs but atoms and galaxies as well. This is extremely gonzo territory. The fact that cold fusionists like Matsumoto regularly produce microscopic, ball-lighting-like plasma phenomena in their labs is anathema to mainstream science. Consider the interlaced heresies involved: Plasma physicists reject the Big Bang. Plasma physics overlaps cold fusion research. Cold fusion research can replicate ball lightning on a microscopic scale, and these are some of the same cold fusion experiments that seem to be creating new elements in a kind of alchemical reaction, which of course is scientifically verboten

February 26, 2003 Dear Editor, In the Scientific American Special Edition on “The Edge of Physics,” Steven Weinberg’s article “A Unified Physics by 2050” neglected to mention the important discoveries of the antimatter proton, six antimatter quarks, and six antimatter leptons, which includes the positron discovered by Carl Anderson in 1930.
  • In 1928, matter-antimatter symmetry began when Paul Dirac developed an equation for combining quantum theory and special relativity. The solution contained an electron with positive energy and positive electron (positron) with negative energy. Dirac's equation won him a Nobel Prize in 1933. Dirac theorized for every particle there exists a corresponding antiparticle, which exactly matches the particle but with opposite charge. After the discovery of the positron, anti-proton and anti-neutron, Dirac speculated on the existence of anti-planets and anti-stars.
  • The recent scientific discovery that comets are composed of antimatter was announced at April 2002 joint meeting of American Physical Society and American Astronomical Society . Scientists have observed the solar wind and dust particles blasting antimatter off the surface of comets. Antimatter is a mirror image of matter and is composed of antimatter elements. The updated Periodic Table of Elements has 109 matter and 109 antimatter elements. Each of the antimatter element’s nuclear, physical, and chemical properties have been defined to such an extent that scientists know almost as much about antimatter as matter.

A recent peak in solar weather has helped a scientist discover cannibalistic tendencies among huge clouds of electrified gas ejected from the Sun. Fast-moving clouds, known as coronal mass ejections (CME), have been found to collide with, overtake and devour slower-moving CME clouds in at least 21 instances recently identified by Catholic University of America researcher Natchimuthuk Gopalswamy. "Coronal Mass Ejection cannibalism is the most violent form of interaction between CMEs," said Gopalswamy, lead author of a research paper presented Tuesday during a meeting of the European Geophysical Society in Nice, France. "This happens when a slow CME is expelled before a fast one from the same general region on the Sun. The fast CME simply gobbles up the slow CME, resulting in a single CME beyond the region of interaction."

#28. The Acceleration of Auroral Electrons
The "ring of fire" seen by satellite cameras around the polar caps (picture below) is probably created by electrons leaking from the tail's plasma sheet, whose magnetic field lines form a somewhat imperfect trap. Observers on the ground, however, don't see that"diffuse aurora," which is dim and lacks sharp outlines. The bright arcs of the " discrete aurora " which they do seeribbons in the sky, often shimmering, folding, and constantly changinghave a different origin. Satellites flying through the electon beams which create such arcs see evidence that their electrons have actually been accelerated . It is as if a giant "electron gun" existed somewhere up in space, like the one found in TV picture tubes, and was shooting electrons down field lines. Some enterprising scientists (e.g. the Russian-French "Araks" experiment, and "Project Echo" of the University of Minnesota) did in fact mount electron guns on high altitude rockets, and used them to create patches of "artificial aurora" in the high atmosphere. Artificial aurora was also created by electrons released from high-altitude nuclear tests between 1958 and 1962, visible in Hawaii, Samoa and off the Azores Islands, places too close to the equator for natural aurora. Such tests are now banned by international agreement.
Trapped O ions
Clear evidence for the acceleration of the natural aurora came from the US Air Force satellite S3-3. A voltage which accelerates negative electrons

Hannes Alfvén (1908 - 1995)
The son of Johannes Alfvén and his wife Anna-Clara Romanus, Hannes had an exceptional family background. His mother was one of the first female physicians in Sweden, a remarkable achievement at that time. His father, also a practicing physician, had a strong interest in science. One of his uncles, Hugo Alfvén, was a famous composer, another was an inventor, and a third, an agronomist by profession, was very interested in astronomy and was far ahead of his contemporaries in formulating ideas about the environment and its problems. According to Alfvén's own account, two experiences in his youth, one at home and one in school, influenced his intellectual development and his professional career. One was the gift at an early age of a popular book on astronomy, written by the French astronomer Camille Flammarion. This he read passionately, and it kindled a lifelong interest in astronomy and astrophysics. The other was his membership in the school's radio club where he built radio receivers. There was no nearby radio station, and the one in Stockholm was too weak to be received with primitive equipment in Norrköping. The most promising was the strong station in Aberdeen, Scotland. Alfvén has described, with some passion, the thrill he felt when some faint notes of music emerged out of the atmospheric noise and could be identified as coming from Aberdeen.

THE CASE OF MORDECHAI VANUNU

AN APPEAL ON BEHALF OF MORDECHAI VANUNU
The vast arsenal of nuclear weapons in the world is a continuous threat to the survival of life on the planet. Over the years, many people of conscience have sought to arouse world opinion to the grave danger posed to humanity by expanding nuclear weapons systems and their introduction to new arenas of conflict. As early as 1946, Albert Einstein appealed to humanity to place ahead of every consideration the moral imperative of active opposition to the imminent prospect of annihilation presented by the stock piling of nuclear weapons, their delivery systems and the willingness of governments to threaten their use. "Henceforth," wrote Einstein in 1946, "every nation's foreign policy must be judged at every point by one consideration, does it lead to a world of law and order, or does it lead back toward anarchy and death? When humanity holds in its hand the weapon with which it can commit suicide, I believe that to put more power into the gun is to increase the probability of disaster."
