More Showbiz headlines Tuesday, October 5, 1999 Beatles regroup in Toronto Aidan Quinn!!! plays the cute Beatle, Paul, in new feature shooting here By BRUCE KIRKLAND Toronto Sun NEW YORK Two of The Beatles, or at least reasonable facsimiles, are coming to Toronto. Actor Aidan Quinn is terrified about it, because he's supposed to play one of the pop music legends Paul McCartney in a new movie called The Two Of Us. "I think I may have lost my mind!" Quinn said in an interview here during a publicity day for his latest film release, Wes Craven's true-life music teacher drama Music Of The Heart. Quinn plays Meryl Streep's boyfriend in that piece, which made its world premiere at the Toronto film festival last month and opens theatrically later in October. Quinn has only a small role in Music Of The Heart. He just wanted to work with Streep. But it's a huge challenge for him to play McCartney, circa the '70s, in The Two Of Us. Jared Harris (son of Richard) will play John Lennon. "It's a fictional account of Lennon and McCartney getting together at the Dakota in 1976," Quinn explains as he assumes a look of mock, or maybe real, terror. The Dakota is the now famous West Side apartment building where Lennon lived for years, and where he was murdered in 1980. Quinn and Harris start rehearsals next Monday for the movie in Toronto, which will stand in for New York. Shooting will start Oct. 21 under British director Michael Lindsay-Hogg. | |
