Norm MacDonald A Very Funny Man Norm MacDonald is just plain funny. The Canadian born comedian's sarcastic, deadpan, raw, and real comedy always makes me laugh. Norm joined Saturday Night Live in 1993, and has been one of their funniest members ever since. His Weekend Update was, for me, the highlight of the show. It is, however, no longer such a highlight because Norm was fired from Weekend Update. Since then, the whole "norm situation" has been rather confusing. On the February 7th show of Saturday Night Live Norm had seemingly been fired, or quit, or something...he wasn't on the show anymore. Then, on the February 14th show he showed up at the end, kissed Roma Downey, and then disappeared again. Who knows what the hell is going on It seems that Norm has, all this time, been in negotiations with NBC, and has finally resolved his contract. He was back on Saturday Night Live on Saturday February 28. Norm's lovely pic was back on the credits, and he even did a sketch. Norm was greeted by great applause from the audience. Although the skit wasn't all that tremendous, it was just great to see Norm again. At one point it did seem like he was addressing the whole situation, for when Garth Brooks said something to the effect of "I don't much like you.", Norm's reply was "A lot of people don't." Hehe. I like ya Norm :) The plot thickens...

Norm Macdonald, meteorologist for WBZ, wrote for Sunday Citizen Mr. Macdonald was born in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 15, 1924, the son of Malcolm J. and Mabelle (Warner) Macdonald. He graduated from Chevy Chase High School in Maryland. He graduated from CalTech with a bachelor of science degree in science and master of science in meteorology. He did extended graduate work at MIT. Mr. Macdonald served in the U.S. Navy on active duty and in the reserves from 1942 to 1963. In 1952, he was part of the team at Eniwetok, the detonation for the first H-Bomb, for which he received Congressional recognition. He did extensive research at High Altitude Observatory, University of Colorado, Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories and 10 years at the meteorology department at MIT. Norm Macdonald was the meteorologist on WBZ-TV from 1960 to 1977, at which time he embarked on his radio career with Weather Services and then with AccuWeather. While at AccuWeather, he began doing forensic meteorology and continued this until recently. After retiring, he did extensive investigations of the Global Warming hypothesis. He and his research associate presented their research to the United Nations in 1993 and he presented the same to a U.S. Congressional Committee. Over his professional career, he had three dozen formal publications in scientific journals.

By TYLER McLEOD Calgary Sun Someone at Saturday Night Live may think Norm Macdonald is funny after all. Now the star of ABC's Norm, Macdonald was unceremoniously dumped from the Weekend Update gig at SNL almost two years ago. It seemed an NBC exec, Don Ohlymeyer, just didn't think he was funny and ordered producer Lorne Michaels to take him off desk duty. The Ottawa native doesn't seem to be holding any grudges, though. He made an appearance at the SNL anniversary last week and has reportedly agreed to host the Oct. 23 edition of SNL. Ohlymeyer is no longer at his post and Michaels jumped at the chance to bring the comic back.
