1. Penn Library-Van Pelt/Guides/U.S. History
Wall Street Journal. Index. ed. / Louise Bilebof Ketz, managing Editor ; Marshallde Bruhl, director, reference Editorial. American Historians, 18661912.
http://oldsite.library.upenn.edu/vanpelt/guides/ushistory.html
This annotated, selective bibliography is an introduction to sources on United States history. Included here are basic reference and research tools, most of which are found in the Van Pelt Reference collection or accessible from the Penn Library Web. The Van Pelt Library houses materials in the social sciences and humanities. Most print material relating to the United States history will, therefore, be at this library. However, because of the interdisciplinary nature of history, it is important to be aware of the holdings of other libraries on campus. For example, if you are interested in legal history, relevant materials will also be at the Biddle Law Library. Other Library bibliographies are available online at http://www.library.upenn.edu/vanpelt/guides/guides.html
These cover: African American Studies Civil War Foreign Relations of the U.S. Old South ...

http://www.dayglow.ndirect.co.uk/work/brus/
The physical growth of Brussels Contents Growth up to 1200 The XIIIth and XIVth centuries By this time Brussels had all the characteristics of a proper town, with six churches, five hospitals, two markets and a large, but anarchic, circulation system. The population continued to grow strongly especially along the major routes. The lower classes in the lower part of the town and the nobility and wealthy merchants in the upper town around the Coudenberg palace. By the mid XIVth century the population had increased to such an extent that it became necessary to build a second wall around the town. This wall 8km long, contained seven gates and defined the pentagon that is still clearly visible on the map of Brussels today. The area contained by this wall was large enough to satisfy the needs the town until well into the XIXth century. The land between the two walls, however, was still largely rural and was mainly used as fields, vin yards and meadows, with the Ducal forest, the Warrande, starting in the east and continuing to the south of the city outside the walls. The area along the Rue Haute became highly populated during this time and was where the majority of the city's weavers could be found. The cloth industry was of great importance to the economy of the city, and remained so until the industrial revolution. The XVth, XVIth and XVIIth centuries

Swedes in Washington State
- Washington och dess svenska befolkning

In 1908 Swedish writer Ernst Skarstedt published, in Swedish, a new volume in his series of books about the Swedes in the Northwest. He had previously published works on the Swedes in Oregon and California. Now the turn had come to Washington State. In his books he usually first tells the story of the area, and presents the various cities and towns, and also charitable institutions, founded by Swedes. Then he concludes the book with biographies, and sometimes photos also, of the more prominent Swedes in the area. This does not imply that he lists every Swede, but a good number of them. The Washington book lists around 800 Swedes, who lived in the state around 1908. The biographical information varies, sometimes it is very detailed (you get to know if the man was a republican or a democrat), and sometimes very sparse. Ingrid Nilsson of Trelleborg has entered every person into a genealogy program, from which the following list is excerpted. Every person in the list has a birth date in the format YYYYMMDD, a place of birth, and also a reference number (109:?). To search for places, use the search facility of your web browser.
