http://www2.ittu.edu.tm/eng/e-book/Oedipus Trilogy, by Sophocles, circa 495-406
This is a Project Gutenberg Etext of Sophocles' Oedipus Trilogy. The Oedipus Trilogy by Sophocles is being released as one file thus minimizing directory entries, commands required to get this trilogy, and testing a policy of releasing collections as single files, rather than individual files, much as we released a Bible this week in honor of Easter, and may release the complete works of Shakespeare as a single file. If we don't do this, we should have some major directory problems. If we get enough requests we will open a separate directory for each edition of the Bible, Shakespeare, and similar collections, and put each separate book there by name for those who would prefer to get just one of this collection, just one book of the Bible, the Book of Mormon, etc. However, the number of requests will have to be large as you may well imagine the amount of work and space required. Corrected EDITIONS of our etexts get a new NUMBER, uscen901.txt. VERSIONS based on separate sources get new LETTER, uscen90a.txt. Information about Project Gutenberg (one page) We produce about one million dollars for each hour we work. One hundred hours is a conservative estimate for how long it we take to get any etext selected, entered, proofread, edited, etc. Our projected audience is one hundred million readers. If our value per text is nominally estimated at one dollar, then we produce a million dollars per hour; next year we will have to do four text files per month, thus upping our productivity to two million/hr. The Goal of Project Gutenberg is to Give Away One Trillion Etext Files by the December 31, 2001. [10,000 x 100,000,000=Trillion] This is ten thousand titles each to one hundred million readers.

Spiritwalk Library Project Gutenberg http://www.gutenberg.net Project Gutenberg is the Internet's oldest producer of FREE electronic books (eBooks or eTexts). It intends to put as many books on-line as possible and to gather these on line works into one central location. It is a terrific service of the University of Illinois.
Project Gutenberg is the brainchild of Michael Hart, who in 1971 decided that it would be a really good idea if lots of famous and important texts were freely available to everyone in the world. Since then, he has been joined by hundreds of volunteers who share his vision. Now, more than thirty years later, Project Gutenberg has the following figures (as of November 8th 2002): 203 New eBooks released during October 2002, 1975 New eBooks produced in 2002 (they were 1240 in 2001) for a total of 6267 Total Project Gutenberg eBooks. 119 eBooks have been posted so far by Project Gutenberg of Australia

S Jonathan Sacks When everything that matters can be bought and sold, when commitments can be broken because they are no longer to our advanrage, when shopping becomes salvation and advertising slogans our litany, when our worth is measured by how much we earn and spend, then the market is destroting the very virtues on which it depends. That, not the return of socialism, is the danger that advanced economies now face. Jonathan Sacks, Markets and Morals, First Things, August 2000. The Marquis de Sade You say that my way of thinking cannot be tolerated? What of it? The man who alters his way of thinking to suit others is a fool. My way of thinking is the result of my reflections. It is part of my inner being, the way I am made. I do not contradict them, and would not even if I wished to. For my system, which you disapprove of, is also my greatest comfort in life, the source of all my happiness - it means more to me than my life itself. The Marquis de Sade Never assume the obvious is true. William Safire Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people. Carl Sagan
