Arts and Artifacts The tao is understood b the taoists as a dynamic, mysterious and creative forces that is to hard to explain. Paintings , have long been felt to be the most receptive thing for the expression of the essential, indivisible , tao, and are thought to be far better to either talk or the written word, The taoist way in art is to eventually make the on looked to feel through the certain inner rhythms of nature to the essence of the assume tao. The taoist inspired artist wants to present a view of the world both satisfying and spiritually refreshing. This is accomplished by creating a subtle harmony of opposites a balancing of yin and yang in the painting. the effect of which is beautiful, relaxing and potentially transforming. Government Taoists do not have a government. Lao Tzu was the ruler of taoism but when he died taoism split up and moved to all different countries. Now there is no set path most Taoists follow the teachings of Lao Tzu. Music Taoist music originated in China and was influenced by folk music. It is an important role for ceremonies and rituals. The point of Taoist music is to make sympathy and pity fro the gods and rulers. Most Taoist music is now performed by the Shanghai Film Symphony Orchestra using bells, stones, temple blocks drums, a pipe, and some stringed instruments. Taoist people held many operas and musical events on the fifteenth day of the seventh month. They held them then because that is when the gates to the underworld is open and evil spirits are free to wander our world. They believed that the music calmed the evil spirits. They thought that it would keep the spirits from causing destruction or harming people in our world.

http://www.taoato.com/laotzurites.htm
When Confucius went to Chou to ask to be instructed in the rites by him, Lao Tzu responds: What you are talking about concerns merely the words left by people who have rotted along with their bones. Furthermore, when a gentleman is in sympathy with the times he goes out in a carriage, but drifts with the wind when the times are against him. I have heard it said that a good merchant hides his store in a safe place and appears to be devoid of possessions, while a gentleman, though endowed with great virtue, wears a foolish countenance. Rid yourself of your arrogance and your lustfulness, your ingratiating manners and your excessive ambitions. These are all detrimental to your person. This is all I have to say to you. On leaving, Confucious told his disciples: I know a bird can fly, a fish can swim, and an animal can run. For that which runs a net can be made; for that which swims a line can be made; for that which flies a corded arrow can be made. But the dragon's ascent into heaven on the wind and the clouds is something which is beyond my knowledge. Today I have seen Lao Tzu who is perhaps like a dragon. Digital Tech:
Adobe Photoshop 5.0 Studio Techniques
by Ben Willmore Adobe Press
Written by an experienced instructor who teaches Photoshop seminars at events and corporations nationwide, this is the definitive Adobe Photoshop tutorial available. It teaches in a clear, well-organized style that intuitively guides the user through techniques rather than touring the application itself. I have attended his seminar which I highly recommend. Digital Color Management by Giorgianni and Madden
Like Ansel Adam's Zone System books, "DCM" has all you'll need to know about digital color management... and depending on your engineering skills you may only need to reread the chapters several times! From the concept of "metamerism" to understanding the images creation process [capture, process, formation], this book has to be on the self of everybody who "needs to know" the why and how of color management. Like Adam's books, this has all the explanations and purposes of a reference book but it's true value is in the application of what it discusses. Adobe Photoshop Classroom in a Book by Adobe Press Ver Ver As all Adobe CIBs, these are a statement on how CD Instructional material should be produced. Each lesson introduces you to different Photoshop features then returns to the same features in a different more productive way. All the exercises have the necessary files on the provided CD. After completion of this book if you retain 25% of what is included you will be an advanced Photoshop user.

No one wants to read a whole book off a computer screen. Fortunately, the Tao is one of the cheapest books you could buy (US$7-$17.50 for the ones I'm recommending here). Ironically, the latest 'Far Side' will cost you double what you'll pay for one of the greatest books in human history. Here's some Taos I've owned and loved: First timers
Stephen Mitchell's translation is quite modern although it loses some of its classic flavour in the process. Available as a (quite good) audio tape for busy people. Book version here Cassette version here Illustrated
Great prints of Chinese paintings. Otherwise, the same author and translation as above.
Tao Te Ching : An Illustrated Journey

The Tao of Gung Fu -Bruce Lee - Interesting application of the Tao with surprisingly deep insight. Very little translation, but very practical application. Did you ever see anyone beat Bruce Lee?
The Tao of Gung Fu : A Study in the Way
Comic version
The Sayings of Lao Zi - Asiapac Publications - Great graphics in an easy to read format. More of an interpretation with examples than translation. In two parts, but either one works fine on is own.
Sayings of Lao Zi - Part 1
People who can read a little Chinese or Japanese or
want to study different versions seriously
Robert G. Henricks - Lau Tzu's Tao Te Ching - Features original Chinese text and detailed commentary.

vergelijk: onze westerse Big-Bang theorie. Het uitdijend en samentrekkend heelal.
Anders gezegd:
De Tao brengt het Ene voort.
Het Ene brengt de Twee voort. De Twee brengt de Drie voort. En de Drie brengt de duizend en één dingen voort. De duizend en één dingen worden gedragen door Yin en omhelzen Yang. Lau Tzu. (Tao Te Ching, vers 42)

80. I The Debt (Part 1) Review

Restrospective Review
The Debt (Part 1)
Uploaded March 21st, '99
It's taken over a year from the first airing of The Debt for me to feel sufficiently distanced from the emotional storm that broke over the rift episodes to even think about watching them. In other words, to feel ready to see this two-parter. At this point I've not watched the "Day-hawk" stories: The Debt is thematically unconnected and formed part of the rift only inasmuch as a rifting was one of its themes. In view of this I was happy to take it as a distinct entity, and it provided an opportunity to try to assess the episodes outside the context of the early Third Season.
Some would say this is a bad approach, that only in the context of the flow as originally presented can it be properly viewed. However, no material in the episode relates directly to any other episode in the "Rift Arc," I saw no specific time-stamp that places it relative to the other episodes of the early part of the season. Given the producers' pointed reshuffling of the airing order to adjust the material to the demograph during S4, it's just as possible The Debt could have been slotted elsewhere in S3, as simply as making the decision to do so.
