    Misogyny in Nietzsche and Hesiod
Direct quotations from Friedrich Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil , by section number. Woman learns how to hate to the extent that she unlearns how to charm. The same emotions in man and woman are, however, different in tempo: therefore man and woman never cease to misunderstand one another. Behind all their personal vanity women themselves always have their impersonal contempt for 'woman.' The tremendous expectation in regard to sexual love and the shame involved in this expectation distorts all a woman's perspectives from the start. Where neither love nor hate is in the game a woman is a mediocre player. Science offends the modesty of all genuine women. They feel as if one were trying to look under their skin or worse! under their clothes and finery. The sexes deceive themselves about one another: the reason being that fundamentally they love and honour only themselves (or their own ideal, to express it more pleasantly). Thus man wants woman to be peaceful but woman is essentially unpeaceful, like the cat, however well she may have trained herself to present an appearance of peace.

    Tuesday, April 01, 2003:
THIS IS INTERESTING: The terrorist Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades announced that they would cease terrorist attacks against Israel for the duration of the war in Iraq. There is a catch, however: "The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade’s recently appointed leader, identified as Abu Mujahed, said that as long as the world’s attention is focused on Iraq, his group will not attack in order not to give Israel a “pretext to carry out brutal crimes against our people.”
However, other senior members of group said that while they were ready to halt attacks in Israel, they would continue attacking settlers and soldiers in the Occupied Territories." Assuming this is true, it obviously has no impact on actions carried out by Hamas, or other groups. But it is interesting.
It signals, in my opinion, that Arafat DOES have a degree of control over this group. Something that he has repeatedly denied.
For the record, I have an extremely low opinion of Yasar Arafat. I think he's the worst thing that ever happened to the Palestinian people, and that they would be much better off with a more courageous, farsighted and trustworthy leader.
This only adds to the evidence against him.

THE MOST CURSED FAMILY IN AMERICA: The tragedies of 9/11 and the Columbia have directly touched an Iowa couple "Astronaut Laurel Clark's death on the space shuttle Columbia was the second sudden and very public tragedy to hit Doug and Betty Haviland in 17 months.
Laurel Clark was their niece and her final moments were broadcast again and again on television Saturday, exploding white dots 200,000 feet above the earth.
On Sept. 11, 2001, television had first brought tragedy. The Havilands were watching after the World Trade Center absorbed the impact of a terrorist-piloted jetliner, burned, then collapsed with their 41-year-old son Timothy inside.
``It was a very deja vu sort of thing, you know, we watched those towers smoking and eventually collapsing and then you see this space shuttle breaking apart. Here it is all over again,'' said Doug Haviland, a 76-year-old retired Episcopal minister of Ames, Iowa." All you can say is "wow."

The Hesiodic poems were probably written down in the 8 th century BC. The two surviving works are the Theogony and Works and Days.
