Top 100 English-Language Novels of the 20th Century: The Radcliffe List
The ASU-West Library owns nearly all of these titles and often has more than one edition or copy. For a list of available titles please consult the annotated list below. In order to keep the length of this page to a minimum, a hyperlink is only provided to one copy (usually the most current or definitive edition) of the book available at the West campus. All titles with more than one edition available from the West Library are followed by an * (asterisk). The Radcliffe List is a response to the Modern Library - 100 Best Novels list, which has been criticized for undervaluing women, minorities, and contemporary writers. As with any "Top 100" list there is definite disagreement both upon what titles belong and their appropriate ranking. The two lists (Modern Library and Radcliffe) only agree on 47 titles - Titles Appearing on Both Lists

While working at the bank, he wrote essays and poems and verse. Most of his work was rejected by publishers until W.E. Henley published many of his children's stories in The Pagan Papers .
