Nether Padley 1891 CENSUS, Derbyshire

Enumeration District 7 (part of)
Nether Padley in the Ecclesiastical Parish of St Peter Hope (part of) " Boundary. the Whole of the Civil Parish of Nether Padley, Comprising, Nether Padley Village, Tadgness, and the Grouse Inn, Padley Common the whole in the Parliamentary Division of West Derbyshire."
The Enumerator was William Kenyon. This transcription has been compiled from microfiche GS#6097887 on loan to me from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) as part of the FreeCEN project. Please note Relation and Status fields will be standardised, and other fields may be truncated when this information is incorporated in the FreeCEN database. Addresses contain Folio ('F'), Page ('P') and Census Schedule ('S') Numbering - for example 'F18/P1/S1' - Folio 18, Page 1, Schedule 1. The Folio is the number hand-stamped at the top right of each odd-numbered page and the Schedule is the household sequence adopted for the Census return. This is not necessarily a house number, nor even an indication that particular households are next to each other, but merely the order the Enumerator recorded the households. From 1891 the Census the form includes three columns to be marked if the person was "Employer", "Employee", or "Neither". This transcription (and FreeCEN) encapsulate this as a single letter here enclosed in SQUARE [] BRACKETS, which when present will follow the Occupation field and indicate whether the person was an Employer ('R'), Employee ('E') or "Neither Employer nor Employed" ('N').

Juvenile Nature Literature and Nature Pedagogy, c.1850-1920:
Additional Resources in the Library of Congress
The Library of Congress's General Collection contains a significant body of material documenting the development of late-nineteenth and early-twentieth century juvenile nature literature and pedagogy, including what was known as the "nature study" movement in American education, in ways that particularly illuminate the aesthetic, moral and religious underpinnings of the contemporaneous conservation movement. After consulting works included in the Conservation Collection, readers who have direct access to the Library, or to other major research libraries, might wish to look at titles such as those on the list below. They might also wish to consult some of the titles on four other Additional Resources lists, "Arbor and Bird Day Observance, c.1872-1920" "Popular Ornithology, c.1850-1920" "The Nature Essay, c.1850-1920" , and "Nature and Wilderness as Recreational Resources, c.1850-1920." Robert Bamford, p. 558
ROBERT BAMFORD, a practical and prosperous agriculturist of Robinson township, is a native of Washington county. Robert, Bamford, his father, was born in 1824, in Ireland, and in 1848 came with a party of young people to Pittsburgh, Penn. He had learned the blacksmith's trade, which he followed about eighteen months in Pittsburgh. On March 8, 1851, he was united in marriage with Sarah G., daughter of David and Martha (Adams) Gordon, both natives of Ireland. David Gordon was first married to Sarah Gardener, who bore him eight children, all now deceased. After the death of his first wife, Mr. Gordon was married to Martha Adams, who had eight children, but two of whom are yet living: Sarah G. (wife of Robert Bamford) and Eliza (wife of John Hanley), of Belfast, Ireland. The father died in 1838, in Ireland, his wife following him in 1852. Robert and Sarah G. (Gardener) Bamford were the parents of four children, namely: David G. (a miller in Midway, Robinson township), born February 20, 1852; William, born November 16, 1854 (farming in this county); Robert, born February 16, 1857; and Mary, born February 2, 1859 (living at home). In 1853 Mr. Bamford moved to Noblestown, Allegheny county, working there at his trade for about two years. He then moved to Bulger, this county, remaining about four years, thence to Primrose, where he resided four years, continuing to follow his trade during these changes of location. In 1863 he bought a farm of fifty-three acres (where his son Robert is now living), in Robinson township, and still followed his trade. He afterward added 182 ½ acres to the farm, and became an extensive dealer in stock, accumulating a large amount of property by combining his agricultural duties with his trade, which he followed thirty-three years.
