Please note, additions and corrections to the program may appear in the coming weeks. T he American Society of Church History is an organization of scholars who share a common interest in the history of ecclesiastical experience and in the historical interaction between religious expressions and culture. The ASCH promotes the maintenance of high standards for research, writing, teaching, the collection of historical materials, the formation of archives, and the interchange of ideas. Most members are professionals in teaching and writing in the history of Christianity, a diverse community of scholars associated with colleges, universities, and seminaries. The membership also includes pastors, archivists, graduate students in history and religious studies, professional writers, independent scholars, and others who share an interest in religious history. Founded by a circle of scholars led by Philip Schaff, the work of the ASCH began in 1888. Since that time the Society has developed along ecumenical and pluralist lines to incorporate people from many formal religious persuasions. Relevant themes of programs and publications now embrace the entire history of Christianity and related subjects and demonstrate a tremendous diversity of scholarly methodology and interest.

For those who have asked and those who may, this collection of links for writers, researchers and the terminally curious is not, was never intended to be, and will never be the all-inclusive stash of every possible link fitting our slapdash criteria for what belongs here.
We select sites with some consideration and thought for usefulness, depth, interest and je ne sais quoi and we try not to offer fifty different links to "manuscript submission." Sometimes we find a really cool site on a subject we already cover and mull over which link to keep and which to set free, sometimes we keep both and add a third. We lean toward linking to cool sites maintained by people we've met in the ether, but don't use a friend's site if there's a better site elsewhere.
We don't link to just anybody and seldom link to commercial sites such as "Learn to Write in Five Days" or "We Will Publish Your Book" unless there is some no, make that a lot of free, useful content. We try to stay away from scammers and frauds; if you see links to what you think are questionable sites, drop us a line. We may or may not agree with you. Whether links are here or not is totally based on how we were feeling before our morning cup of espresso.

Preference is also given to studies that address issues identified in Foundation-sponsored initiatives . The Foundation is willing to consider requests for support in disseminating the results of the studies it funds. Grants are made only to colleges, universities, or other 501(c)(3) institutions; no grants are made to individuals. Please see our How to Apply section for further information. Back to the Top
