The Great War
"We're not making a sacrifice.
Jesus, you've seen this war.
We are the sacrifice."
Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme
The Great War ushered in the 20thCentury.
It was "The War To End All Wars,"- a senseless slaughter that set the stage for the bloodiest century in human history.
Yet, it was more than just a war between nations. It was a war between what was and what was to be. The "old world" was dying, and the new world had yet to be born. People of all classes and nations saw it as some great cleansing fire that would accelerate this battle and lead to a better world. But, when it was over, more than men had died in the mud of the battlefields. The naive dreams of progress, along with the innocence of the pre-war world, faith in God, and hope in the future all died in the trenches of Europe. Tony Novosel
This site is humbly dedicated to those on all sides who were sacrificed for nothing in this terrible tragedy.

The Polish Peoples Army
On 17 September 1939 with the Polish armies fully engaged against the German onslaught, the USSR invaded from the East. The Frontier Defence Corps and improvised forces in eastern Poland put up a spirited if futile struggle, including the two-day defence of Grodno, the battles of Kodziowce and Szack. The Soviet invasion put paid to any chance of maintains the Romanian bridgehead. The Polish President, Government and Supreme GHQ were forced to cross the border into allied Romania, with the aim of reaching France and from there continuing the war against the two invaders. Under political pressure from Berlin, the Romanian government interned the Polish President, Government and High Command. The Polish Campaign had lasted 6 weeks. The German losses were: 16,000 killed, 32,000 wounded, 674 tanks, 319 armoured trucks, 195 guns and mortars, 6,046 trucks and 5,538 motor-cycles were destroyed or badly damaged. The Luftwaffe lost 564 airplanes and the Kriegsmarine one minesweeper. The Red Army's losses amounted to 2,500 killed, 9,000 wounded, 1,000 taken prisoner, 150 tanks and armoured vehicles and 15-20 aircraft destroyed.

    http://www.wwiaviation.com/toc.shtml
The Story Of World War 1 Aviation The history of World War One aviation is a rich and varied story. It was marked by a period of very rapid technological development, where aircraft evolved from their humble beginnings as slow moving, fragile, powered kites, into quick, agile, sturdy, fighter craft. The Great War consumed the world in a conflict that was unrivaled until that time. It was a kind of war far different than the one that was waged on the ground. The fight for control of the air was where the cunning, and bravery of the individual could matter for much. This website is my tribute to those fragile aircraft and to the brave pilots on both sides that flew them.
The Sopwith Triplane was used in combat by the Royal Naval Air Service. The stack of three wings reduced wingspan and increased wing area making it handle and climb better than biplanes.
The German Air Service began equipping fighter units with the rugged and reliable Pfalz D.III in August 1917. Together with the Albatros D.Va the D.III and the improved D.IIIa, helped revive Germany's air superiority over the Allies. Test Your Knowledge of
