This file surveys the way world religions understand the problem of evil, its origin, nature and end. THE PROBLEM OF EVIL. IN world religions.

THE PROBLEM OF EVIL
IN WORLD RELIGIONS
The problem of evil is a touchstone of any religion. Evil is present everywhere: in our society, in the environment, around us and even inside us. Out of our direct confrontation with evil results suffering, and thus endless questions about the meaning of life. That is why all religions have to give a proper answer regarding the origin, nature and end of evil. There are three major religious alternatives in explaining evil, stated by the pantheistic, dualistic and monotheistic religions. Pantheistic religions regard evil as ultimately unreal. Human suffering is a product of spiritual ignorance gathered in previous lives and distributed in the present one according to the dictates of karma. In the dualistic religions, good and evil are two eternal and rival principles. Neither has created the other one and each acts according to its own nature. In the monotheistic religions, evil has a personal identity. It is a being that has fallen from an initial good status as a result of misusing his freedom of will. Let us analyze these perspectives and see to what extent they are compatible with one another.
Evil in Eastern religions
Evil in Hinduism
As mentioned in a previous article, Hinduism is a complex mixture of religious trends. Concerning the relation between Ultimate Reality and evil, there are at least three major perspectives, given by:

C Baha'i. B aha'i has more than five million followers. It was founded by Mirza Husayn 'Ali Nuri, who took the name Baha'u'llah (Glory of God) while in exile in Baghdad. His coming had been foretold by Mirza Ali Mohammed, known as al-Bab, who founded Babism in 1844, a sect from which the Baha'i faith grew. The central tenets of the Baha'i faith are the oneness of God, the oneness of humanity, and the common foundation of all religion. The people of Baha'i also believe in the equality of men and women, universal education, world peace, and the creation of a federal system of world government. Buddhism B uddhism has 307 million followers worldwide. It was founded in southern Nepal in the 5th and 6th centuries B.C. by Siddharta Gautama, known as the Buddha (Enlightened One). The Buddha achieved enlightenment through meditation and he gathered a community of monks to carry on his teachings. According to Buddha, meditation and the practice of good religious and moral behavior can lead to Nirvana, the state of enlightenment, although before achieving Nirvana one is subject to repeated lifetimes that are good or bad depending on one's actions (karma). Existence, for Buddhists, is a realm of suffering. Desire, along with the belief in the importance of one's self, causes suffering. Achievement of Nirvana ends suffering. And Nirvana is attained only by meditation and by following the path of righteousness in action, thought and attitude.

An Introduction to the Study of World Religions
From the earliest known evidence of human religion by Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis around 100,000 years ago to the present day, religion continues to be a very influential aspect of human lives. Today, there are numerous challenges and problems faced by humans from every possible background, location and social class. Every day people must face issues of health, safety and mortality. It is because of these daily challenges that religion continues to exist. Religion is the universal tool for explaining things which we do not understand through the context the known physical world. Although there are countless religions, each different from the other, they all serve the same purpose. Each answers questions which all humans seem to be programmed to ask: Why are we here? What happens when I die? How shall I live my life? Religion helps us to transmit our values from one generation to another, and influences the way we interact with the natural environment. It teaches us how to see ourselves in light of the universe and gives purpose and meaning to life.

A comparison of Christian mysticism to Sufism. An instructive example of how cults are built and maintained, as well as an examination of the root similarities of all major world religions.
    http://www.blaketashi.com/
Blaketashi Darwish FAQ The Blaketashi Darwishes are dedicated to the continual re-incorporation of the Perennial Philosophy into Western Culture, a function performed in the East by the Sufis. The Perennial Philosophy is native to all lands and all times, and arises by its own Accord from the Ground of Being. It arises in a manner which is fructifying, providing Spiritual Nourishment in ways often Unexpected. The Unexpected, rather than being surprising, hides unexpectedly amongst Common Things. As William Blake says: How do you know but ev'ry Bird that cuts the airy way, Is an immense world of delight, clos'd by your senses five? In a culture which increasingly seeks novelty and calls it Nourishment, the Blaketashi happily points to the Providence and Abundance which is our collective birthright.
