    Mission Statement
The mission of the Burlingame School District's Library Media Centers is to develop avid readers and information literate students, thereby creating lifelong learners.
    Program
The LMC program focuses on helping students acquire: literacy skills, information literacy skills, technology skills, critical thinking skills and an appreciation of and love for good literature. The program emphasizes the use of literature and information in all its various formats by students and teachers. The program also strives to meet the needs of student's individual learning styles, interests, language and diversity. Students visit the LMC on both a scheduled and flexible schedule. It is a district goal to integrate classroom curriculum and the LMC instruction through cooperative planning and teaching by the library media teacher and classroom teachers.
    Collection
The LMC collection includes resources in a variety of formats. In addition to a large print collection, there are also book/cassette kits, sound recordings, computer software, an online magazine database and full Internet access. There are approximately 7000 titles in the collection. The collection is currently funded by categorical funds for school libraries from the California Department of Education and from the Washington School PTA which donates all the profits from its Spring Book Faire to the LMC. The PTA also supports the Adopt-A-Book Program which provides a pre-selected choice of quality books for the school community to "adopt" into the LMC collection.
