Irvington Extended Day (IED), a nonprofit organization located within Irvington School, provides before and after school child care for children in grades K-5. Irvington has a Child Development Specialist (CDS), who provides individual and group counseling for academic, personal, and social concerns. Amanecer is an integrated language-based preschool of 3 to 5 year olds (5 after September 1st) having special education needs. Fifty to sixty percent of each class are children that have been identified as having special education needs. The other forty to fifty percent of the children served have no handicapping condition and participate on a tuition basis. Amanecer preschool strives to offer children an opportunity to develop in an environment planned with their physical, mental, social, and emotional needs in mind. The program provides experiences planned to meet the needs of all attending preschoolers. Children needing special services have an opportunity to interact with non-handicapped students, giving them a role model to follow. Planned creative experiences provide an environment which:

Thereafter, applications will then be accepted for any openings not filled during the walk-in registration. At the time of registration, a non-refundable registration fee will be collected.     What is ARD Referral Process Pre-Kindergarten ... What's so Special How do you determine if a child needs special education services? To receive special education services, a child must meet specific criteria by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA). A parent, teachers, or administrator may recommend a student for consideration for special education services by contacting the school counselor. What exactly is the " ARD " Committee? ARD is an acronym for Admission, Review and Dismissal committee. This committee, which includes the parent, administrator, teacher and other staff familiar with the student's needs, makes decisions concerning the educational program/services of a student referred to or receiving special education support. What is the referral process for Special Education? The School Wide Assistance Team (SWAT) meets on each campus to consider the individual needs of students. Students may be referred to the SWAT by an administrator, classroom teacher, counselor or parent. In addition to special education, the SWAT considers referrals for supportive counseling, crisis intervention, Talented and Gifted, English as a Second Language, Americans with Disabilities Act eligibility and accommodations. The SWAT also may refer students for a special education evaluation. The SWAT is designed to comply with the requirements of Title II of the ADA.
