Community Outreach
We at SRP believe it is our responsibility to help improve the quality of life where we do business. That's why we have a tradition of supporting programs that have a positive impact on Arizona’s future. By forging partnerships with a wide variety of groups -– from schools to human services, arts and environmental organizations -– we assist thousands of people in our surrounding communities.
SHARE
SRP makes monthly contributions to SHARE , a program administered by The Salvation Army that offers emergency assistance is given to people who are unable to pay their basic household energy bills. Assistance is given only to those who have exhausted all other potential sources of aid, and recipients can receive a grant only once per year. Each month, SRP matches 50 cents for every dollar contributed, up to $10,000, and SRP encourages its customers to donate to SHARE by contributing $1 or more each month with their electric payment.
Poison Center
With SRP’s help, the Good Samaritan Regional Poison Center created a program to increase the public’s awareness of what to do if they are bitten or stung by a venomous desert spider, insect or snake. Both adults and children can be adversely affected by a bite or a sting, but young children are at the greater risk.

The major health problems of the 21st century are lifestyle-induced, argues Clark, whose private practice includes elderly people as well as those with weight problems, diabetes, heart conditions or trouble managing their daily lives.

home contact us www.seniorcitizensguide.com When I Retire When I retire, the first thing I'm going to do is put away the Christmas tree. The next thing I'll do is vacuum the rug where that tree has stood for about four or five years. It has become a focal point in my living room. I put valentines on it in February, and shamrocks on it in March, and - well you get the picture. Do you know that laughter actually lowers your blood pressure? That laughter actually acts like an exercise for your insides? That laughter is catchy? Did you know that laughter helps to relieve pain? Senior Centers of Today Live Long and Prosper As we welcome the baby boomers into the world of senior discounts and Early Bird specials, we are also welcoming Star Trek fans. “Live long and prosper” is a phrase used in that popular science fiction television and movie classic. However, the phrase doesn’t work when we face terms like “sicker and quicker”, plummeting markets, and cuts in Medicare, which make us start to wonder about the words, “long” and “prosper. In the Sixties, The Beatles posed the question in a song: ”Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I’m 64?” They were such kids then that age 64 seemed to be, well, OLD! It seemed frail and lonely. But what do kids know? Consider THIS: Two years from now Paul McCartney, himself, will be eligible to attend a senior center! If he asked “Why go to a center, anyway?”, what would you say?

14 Familiy Attractions In Norfolk By now I think most people realise that this is my home county. This is a wonderful part of the world. I live about a half an hours drive from the coast and about a ten minute drive from countryside. Although critisised for being "flat" there are hills in Norfolk - I know I used to ride a push bike! There are also some beautiful places to visit as well as the normal tourist attractions. If you are looking for "family entertainment" then the following places might be just what you're looking for. This is a three week series, last week I looked at historic houses and next week I shall be looking at wildlife venues and railways in the county.

COLLEGE MISSION The mission of the College of Health and Social Services is to provide academic programs that prepare professionals to address issues directly affecting the quality of life in a rapidly changing society. The college includes the academic departments of Health Science, Nursing and the School of Social Work. The college advises more than 2,000 students including all non-degree and provisionally admitted students. HEALTH SCIENCE The Department of Health Science offers the Bachelor of Community Health (BCH), a Bachelor of Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH), and a Master of Public Health in Community Health Education (MPH). The department also offers minors in community health, gerontology, and health administration.
The BCH is one of only a few such programs nationally to be fully approved by the Society of Public Health Education/American Association of Health Education Baccalaureate Program Approval Committee. A student who completes this degree will be prepared to take the national exam to become a Certified Health Education Specialist. Graduates hold positions in public health organizations, volunteer health agencies, and agencies for senior citizens.
The BEOH involves the development, implementation, evaluation and promotion of methods used to manage indoor and outdoor environments that may have an adverse impact on human health. The EOH professional has an emphasis on prevention rather than treatment, and on human health rather than ecological protection. This degree program is based on a solid foundation in the behavioral, biological, physical and technical sciences. Graduates may find employment in federal, state and local health departments, environmental protection agencies, water supply and wastewater treatment facilities, manufacturing, food processing/management, environmental engineering, insurance companies and the military.

This website is a collaborative project to facilitate community building in the wonderfully diverse Richmond District neighborhood of San Francisco, CA. What better place to recreate the village grapevine of neighborhood knowledge and community involvement than the global village of the world wide web? Here we link the resources of the people of this great place to live to create an even better, safer, more neighborly community. The Richmond District is a large (70,000+ population) primarily residential district in North West San Francisco. For purposes of this collaborative website, the area of the Richmond District is defined by the Richmond District Police Station's assigned area, bounded by the Pacific Ocean on the west, Golden Gate Park on the South, the Presidio on the North, and Steiner and Divisidero and Masonic Streets on the east. 6-year-old alone in Hong Kong hospital after father dies of SARS
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The 6-year-old boy left in China when his father died of the flu-like illness sweeping Asia is alone in a Hong Kong hospital, but is being looked after by church friends, a family member said Thursday. Mickey Salisbury was taken across the border of mainland China to Hong Kong to a hospital along with his father, who was pronounced dead of severe acute respiratory syndrome on Wednesday. James Salisbury's death has resulted in accusations that the Chinese government hastily moved him from the mainland to avoid the embarrassment of a foreigner dying of SARS. Chinese officials have denied the claim.

Ten Great Activities for Grandparents Day
One of the first holidays of the new school year, Grandparents Day will be observed on September 12 this year. With all the work to be done at the start of classes, have you had an opportunity to plan your celebration? If not, don't panic! The Web is your source for grand ideas for Grandparents Day! Did you know that 4 million children in 3 million households are being raised by their grandparents? Would you be surprised to learn that more than 5 million children live in a household with a grandparent present?
It seems that grandmas and grandpas, formerly in the business of "spoiling" grandchildren, are taking on additional responsibilities that involve raising their children's children. For all that those grandparents do, we celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of our senior citizens on Grandparents Day. This year, the holiday falls on September l2. How will you mark the occasion? If you haven't made your plans yet, have no fear! The Web comes to your rescue with ten great activities for grateful kids!
PETS BRING KIDS AND SENIORS TOGETHER
Diana B. Wolan, a graduate student at Cornell University, organized a program that brought children together with seniors through unusual mediators. "The Pet Patrol project was a collaboration between Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, Trumansburg Ulysses Joint Youth Commission, and Trumansburg Central Schools," she explained. "This was an after-school program at Trumansburg Middle School. The students received training from an RSVP [Retired and Senior Volunteer Program] volunteer who helped prepare them for their visit to Lakeside Nursing Home."
