At their October 11 meeting on
the Rhode Island College campus they found out that their school librarians can do it even better when they work collaboratively. The superintendents
saw a presentation on RILINK, the Rhode Island Library Information Network for Kids. Twenty-three school libraries have joined together to form this
cooperative service, sharing their books, audiovisual materials and expertise. Through RILINK and its online virtual catalog, the more than 25,000
students and teachers in RILINK member schools have 300,000 books and audiovisual items and 10,000 subject-based links to the World Wide Web at
their fingertips.

libraries have joined together to share their books, audiovisual materials and expertise to provide better service to the more than 20,000 students and
teachers that they serve. Through RILINK, the Rhode Island Library Information Network for Kids, and its online web-based union catalog, these
students and teachers have more than 200,000 books and audiovisual items and more than 4,300 subject-based web links at their fingertips. A ninth
grader at the East Providence High School who ordered two books from RILINK about sailing, told his librarian, Bette Dion that he was "on the crew of
the Providence" (a tall ship) and he needed to "learn about sailing big ships." He also borrowed a book of nautical knots from the South Kingstown High
