Bryan Page Building and operating home brew transmitters and receivers is my favorite part of amateur radio. Sometimes I like to use tubes. At other times I may use transistors, integrated circuits, etc. I have been collecting parts off and on for over twenty years. I have hundreds of used but boxed tubes.
Some of the other hard-to-find parts that I try to collect are: tube sockets, ceramic components of all types, variable capacitors, transformers (power and audio), ferrite loop antennas, i. f. transformers, vernier drives, meter movements, and other boat anchor parts. HERE ARE SOME OF MY PROJECTS 6L6 Transmitter

5.2 Meter Radio Astronomy Project for 1420 MHz
This is a description of my 1420 MHz radio telescope project for observing the natural radio emissions of neutral hydrogen atoms found throughout space. Specifically, the study of the radio spectra of these emissions is used to determine the distribution and dynamics of hydrogen throughout our galaxy.
Hello, Everyone!
My name is Randy Stegemeyer, and I am located near Seattle, Washington. I have been interested in radio astronomy for years but have only recently been able to find the time to assemble my own radio telescope. I have completed construction of a 5.2 meter antenna which I use to detect the 1420 Mhz radio emissions of neutral hydrogen found throughout the galaxy. I have included some information on construction and sources of material, and there is also a description of how I am using it and what type of information can be gained from these types of observations. It is my hope that this information will be helpful to others who are interested in radio astronomy or who may even be considering a project of their own. The antenna has a computer controlled Az-El mount and was built mostly from recycled C-band satellite TV components. The elevation drive was once a horizon-to-horizon drive for a 16-foot satellite TV antenna and has an integral worm drive. It is driven by a 90-vdc linear actuator motor/gearbox. The azimuth drive is a roller-chain arrangement driven by another worm drive. This worm drive is also driven by a linear actuator motor/gearbox. The antenna uses a potentiometer for azimuth position feedback which produces a voltage ratio read by a "data acquisition" board on an old 286 PC. Elevation position is obtained by using a

The Dragon Club has been in existence for almost 15 years. During that time it has had a number of meeting places including the Four Crosses Hotel and the University. The Club recently moved to Llanfairpwll and meets at the Ebenezer Church Hall, Lon Foel Graig, Upper Village, (see map). The Church Hall is an ideal Club House being recently modernised with fitted kitchen, central heating and ample parking. Club members come from all walks of life and encompass a wide range of ages. Whereas a large number of members hold a current Amateur Radio Certificate this is certainly not true of all Club members. To cater for those that are not licenced it is envisaged that RAE Novice classes will be held in the foreseeable future and possibly morse classes as well. Two Club members provide the Morse Testing Service for the Gwynedd area and can offer advice and guidance to prospective candidates. Club meetings are held twice monthly on the 1 st and 3 rd Monday of the month, commencing 7.30pm for 8.00pm. The meetings start off quite informally with members socialising generally, followed by a talk/demonstration or general discussion on radio related matters given by either one of the Club members or a visiting "expert" (see copy of the latest programme). Visits are sometimes arranged to places of interest, Club members were recently taken on a guided tour of local BBC/ITV Broadcast stations. We have also visited 22 Squadron at RAF Valley and a number of other interesting venues. The evening finishes off with tea/coffee and biscuits and more general chat.
