IMA opened on October 2, 2000, with one very simple goal in mind - to provide clients with a single source for all their custom mapping needs. To this end, we have assembled a team of highly experienced cartographers and graphic designers who possess the collective expertise to assist clients across a broad range of mapping needs. We have also invested heavily in developing a state-of-the-art digital graphics facility that permits us to perform most work in-house. On October 1, 2001 IMA acquired American Custom Maps On October 28, 2002 IMA acquired Equator Graphics, Inc. , an established custom mapping firm located in Silver Spring, Maryland. Since its founding in 1992, Equator Graphics has been catering to the custom mapping needs of a diverse, and largely domestic, clientele. EGI's client base compliments IMA's strong international presence and helps to broaden our capabilities in areas such as GIS, 3-D terrain modeling, flash animation, and web mapping. Our staff is ready to assist with all of your custom mapping needs. Call today for a free consultation and project estimate.

New Mexico 2000 (statewide) Census Data
UNM's Institute for Applied Research Services (IARS) which consists of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) and the Division of Government Research (DGR) are working together on making the 2000 United States Census Data for New Mexico more accessible. This joint project (CAAP - Census Aggregation and Accessibility Project) will develop this experimental web page to demonstrate various formats that users can view, query, obtain, and more easily use this recent Census 2000 information. All of the data on this page are for the entire state of New Mexico (statewide). Data for individual geographic subareas of the state (counties, cities and towns, American Indian areas, etc.) can be found on BBER's Census 2000 web page , the New Mexico Resource Geographic Information System (RGIS) web page , the Geography Network , or directly from the Census Bureau's web site The individual subarea data is usually separated into two pieces: geography and tabular data. The geography is generally available in GIS industry standard formats (ESRI Shapefiles and ArcInfo Export files) but the tabular data is sometimes limited to Microsoft Excel or CSV (Comma Separated Values) file formats.

Civil War, railroad maps slated for Internet posting
    June 9, 1997
Web posted at: 5:38 p.m. EDT (2138 GMT) WASHINGTON (CNN) Want to see a map from America's history? The Library of Congress is putting a portion of its vast map collection online. The maps will be instantly available to anyone with a computer and access to the Internet. So far, the Library of Congress has put only 26 maps online, mostly panoramic maps of cities and towns in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California and New Mexico. But more maps will be added every day, said Ralph E. Ehrenberg, chief of the library's geography and map section. By October, the number is due to rise to 1,200. "The library plans to have at least 50,000 maps on line by the year 2000," said Sen. Pete Domenici, a New Mexico Republican. "Everyone's interested in maps," said Ralph Ehrenberg, chief of the library's Geography and Map Division. "Everybody's interested in the place that they were born." Up to now, a researcher would have had to make the trip to Washington to examine the map under a magnifying glass. Technology to make maps available to any laptop within seconds was developed by the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, and a private spinoff company, LizardTech.

Links to Historical Maps of Colorado Congress created the Territory of Colorado in 1861 in the center of the western half of the continental United States in the east-central portion of the Rocky Mountain region. The center of the state is approximately 1,500 miles west of the Eastern coast of the United States, 800 miles east of the Western coast, 650 miles south of the northern border with Canada and 475 miles north of the southern border with Mexico. Colorado is bounded on the east by the states of Kansas and Nebraska, on the north by Nebraska and Wyoming, on the west by Utah and on the south by New Mexico and Oklahoma. The boundary lines create an almost perfect rectangle, measuring approxiamtely 387 miles from east to west and 276 miles from north to south and covering 104,247 square miles, including 450 square miles of bodies of water. Colorado is the eighth largest state when measured in square miles area. Colorado is a diverse region of mountains, plateaus, canyons and plains. Generally, the eastern half of the state has flat, high plains and rolling prairies gradually rising westward to the front range foothills and the higher ranges of the Rocky Mountains. The Continental Divide runs from north to south through west central Colorado and bisects the state into the eastern and western slopes. The western half of the state consists of alpine terrain interspersed with wide valleys, rugged canyons, high plateaus and deep basins.
