Public Outreach and Community Involvement
Engaging Parents and Community Members
Both increased parent involvement in children's education and the simultaneous outreach to and education of the community are critical to improving learning opportunities for all children. Through public outreach activities, the Mid-Atlantic Eisenhower Consortium and its partners are making the public increasingly aware of the need for all sectors of the community to provide students with opportunities to learn and to meet high standards. Collected here are a number of selected online resources from a variety of organizations that support both parent involvement in schools and outreach activities to the larger community.
Partnership for Family Involvement in Education

The site includes links to a wealth of other family involvement resources. National Parent Information Network (NPIN)
A project from the ERIC Clearinghouse on Urban Education and the ERIC Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education, the NPIN site provides information and communications capabilities to parents and to those who work with them.
