A three-time Olympic luger, Warner went to work for women bobsledders in 1998, before she had even jumped into a sled. "I just felt like women deserve to compete," she said. This year more women will. Women's bobsled and skeleton were added to the Games for the first time. A total of 44 athletes will compete in the two sports. Sadly, Warner won't be one of them. Although she learned to bobsled in 1999 and reached the elite level quickly, she did not qualify for the U.S. team. She can claim some credit, though, for any medals the American women win.
