The Office of Development is responsible for coordinating all fund raising to benefit the University, including annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving.
Annual Giving provides a vehicle for involving volunteers and for developing and fostering annual support from alumni and friends. It provides unrestricted gift income to help support alumni, athletic, and university functions. Donors can also restrict their annual gifts to support specific areas/programs of interest to them.
Major Gifts provide the University with a way to increase the size of its endowment, acquire additional equipment and resources, and increase student and faculty support through scholarships, endowed professorships, and chairs. Its purpose is to identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts. Planned Giving enables a donor to make a legacy gift through such methods as bequests, gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, life insurance, appreciated property and other means.
Planned Giving provides a vehicle through which many alumni and friends can be major benefactors of the University. For more information about these programs, please call or email the Office of Development.

National State Issues LA Entertainment ... Subscribe BAYOU BUZZ INTERVIEW CHIEF OF STAFF, ANDY KOPPLIN Andy Kopplin is the Governor's Chief of Staff. He took over that position upon the departure of Steve Perry. Here is Part I of a Two-Part Bayoubuzz interview with the person whom the Governor has chosen to run his staff. Bayoubuzz: Andy Kopplin, Chief of Staff. Tell us, what is the position of Chief of Staff for the Governor, for say, Louisiana?
Andy Kopplin: The Governor asks the Chief of Staff to be the hands-on manager of his executive staff here at the Capitol. And also to be his liaison to the cabinet secretaries of various departments. Cabinet secretaries are appointed and report directly to the Governor, but I work with them on a daily basis, coordinating the implementation of his agenda. In addition to that we obviously have very close working relationships with the legislature and we have a legislative liaison here in our office, but on the Governor's behalf I also spend a lot of time with presiding officers, the President, the Speaker and the Committee Chairmen, discussing their priorities and sharing with them the Governor's priorities.
Bayoubuzz: So is it safe to say that most decisionmost major decisions at least, you're going to have the ear of the Governor?
