Student Projects Description Rationale: Spanish 307 is an intensive writing course in Spanish designed around a networked computer classroom. The sub-theme of this class is "Homenaje a la mujer hispana." This semester will engage in numerous writing and revision activities designed to improve your conceptualization and completion of written work in Spanish; several of the activities will be centered around the sub-theme of the class. You will write and revise a variety of types of compositions, building descriptive, narrative, summary, analytical and argumentative styles. This course should maximize your learning through writing, by asking you to write often, write thoughtfully and write in a variety of formats. Not all of your writing will be for a grade; your audience may be your professor, other students, yourself, or interested computer users on the World Wide Web. Writing Techniques and Strategies: The compositions will build in length and complexity as the semester progresses; but remember thatwriting in a foreign language is by its nature more problematical, and you must seek to renderphrases simply and elegantly. Do not translate from English! That is perilous and ponderous. Useforms that are familiar to you, and use them simply, thinking about tense andperson. Reach to improve your Spanish by working from what you know. Use the dictionary, but do so sparingly and carefully to be certain you have the correct part of speech and usage. Your written skills in Spanish will develop with practice, but they will not soon approach those of English; therefore, yourprecision and clarity must compensate to some extent. Keep things simple and follow good models reading and listening in Spanish will help you to internalize models. | |
