What is Exploring?
Learn more about ...
Exploring Exploring is part of the Learning for Life career education program for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) or 15 through 20 years old. Exploring's purpose is to provide experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. Explorers are ready to investigate the meaning of interdependence in their personal relationships and communities. Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and the organizations in their communities. Local community organizations initiate an Explorer post by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop. Explorer posts can specialize in a variety of career skills. Exploring programs are based on five areas of emphasis: career opportunities, life skills, service learning, character education, and leadership experience.

Degree Requirements and Course of Study
The degree of Master of Laws in Taxation is awarded upon the satisfactory completion of at least 26 semester credit hours. Courses for the LL.M. degree are designed to be completed in two semesters and a summer term. (Any student contemplating completion of the program over a different period of time should consult the director prior to starting the program.) Typically, a student enrolls in four or five graduate tax courses in the fall and spring terms, and two courses in the summer. Students must complete Federal Tax Research (LAW 7911), a two-credit course dealing with tax research techniques and requiring a tax research paper, Income Taxation I (LAW 7602), Income Taxation II (LAW 7604), and Civil Tax Procedure (LAW 7640). No more than four credits of the 26 required to graduate may be made up of J.D. level courses and Independent Study (LAW 7905), Supervised Research (LAW 7910) and Supervised Teaching (LAW 7940), all of which require the prior approval of the director. Ordinarily, all coursework for the LL.M. degree will consist of graduate tax courses. Permission to take a J.D. course for LL.M. credit is subject to the discretion of the director. A grade of B or better must be earned in the J.D. course to receive LL.M. credit, but the grade is not computed in determining the Graduate Tax Program grade point average. A cumulative 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale) is required for graduation. Students failing to maintain that average over two semesters must petition the tax faculty for permission to continue in the program.
