Boca de Iguanas is a small beachfront settlement located about 19 miles northwest of Barra de Navidad. A 3km paved road leads from the intersection with coastal highway 200 at Km 21 (GPS 19°18.67'N 104°47.85'W) to Boca de Iguanas. The settlement consists of a hotel/restaurant, 2 camping/trailer parks, and 2 more restaurants on Bahía Tenacatita with a freshwater lagoon just behind the beach. Although mosquitos weren't a problem on and near the beach, areas further back have many due to the proximity of the lagoon; bring your insect repellant. An 18' crocodile occasionally visits from the lagoon. Note the wide expanse of sand which curves for 6 miles around Bahía Tenacatita. There are reportedly oyster beds just offshore, but I found it a bit difficult to swim out past the breakers. The large, gently sloping beach is great for kids.
Boca de Iguanas, has a beautiful, tranquil, gently sloping beach. Below Coconuts by the Sea and at the level of the beach is a cave-like opening in the rocks with a small altar.

http://www.drpetra.com/Exotics/Common Diseases of Iguanas.htm
COMMON DISEASES OF PET IGUANAS What are some of the common diseases of pet iguanas? Common conditions of pet iguanas include metabolic bone disease, infectious stomatitis (mouth rot), parasites, abscesses, and hypervitaminosis D. What are the signs of these diseases? Metabolic bone disease, probably the most common condition of pet iguanas, is most often caused by feeding an improper diet that is low in calcium or Vitamin D and high in phosphorus. Common signs include swelling of the lower jaw and/or swelling of the hind-limbs. As the condition progresses, muscle twitching, loss of appetite, and loss of energy (lethargy) are seen. Infectious Stomatitis (Mouth Rot) is seen as pinpoint hemorrhages on the gums or an excess amount of thick mucus, often like cottage cheese, in the mouth. Parasites, especially pinworms, are common in pet iguanas. They often cause no clinical signs and are detected on an annual fecal examination. They may, however, cause diarrhea or weight loss. Abscesses, commonly seen in pet iguanas, appear as hard tumor-like swellings anywhere on the pet's body.

I would have to say that iguanas, by far, are my favorite lizards. About a year ago I got my first iguana, names 'Farphanoogle', 'Iggie', 'Noogle'. By the way my brother thought I should name him that.
Anyway, throughout this page I will tell you exactly what I do to care for my Iguana. Do not use my information ONLY. A lot of care should be taken to research iguana's as I have done. But first a brief history lesson.
The green iguana (the one that I have), Iguana iguana, is often said to have come from the 'jungles of South America' however, they extend to the north, such as Mexico. The green iguana can grow between 4 and 6 feet. (no I do not believe that iguanas will grow with their surroundings. In fact I don't believe that is true with any animal) So the first thing that you would want to do is MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE ROOM! Another fact is that iguanas can live up to 20 years and beyond when in captivity, and all proper care is given. As well iguanas are herbivores and should be given such a diet with no exceptions. Some people may say that animal protein is an asset, at a young age, but I don't so if you want to believe them then go ahead.
Housing
So now you may have decided to get an iguana and don't know what to put it in. Well you're are probably never going to find a suitable home for the creature. You see, iguana's grow at a rapid speed, doubling in length within the first year, hitting an average length of 5 feet within the first 5 years. There is no one that can answer the question of a suitable home. There are only guidelines. If you never plan on taking your iguana out then you must provide the largest space available. possibly 2x its final length in all dimensions. However, if you plan and will take your iguana out then a suitable home would be 1.5x the final length of the iguana is all dimensions. I know that this can be costly, but the health of the iguana should come first. (note: it is ok to put a young iguana in a smaller home. The problem is that it will cost more money when the iguana begins to grow)

About: Melissa Kaplan Chr Neuroimmune Diseases Introduction If you are looking for a simple, quick, all-inclusive article on green iguana care, you won't find it here. You won't find it anywhere because there is no such thing, not if your intent is to take care of your iguana properly. My Iguana Care, Feeding, and Socialization (ICFS) article provides the basics on iguanas, where they come from, how they act, and how to get them set up and started eating right. It also goes into the first steps involved with taming and socializing, and why all new igs, regardless of age, need to see your reptile vet...and why just any vet won't do. The other articles here in my Iguana Care Collection expand and build on the ICFS information. You will also find many articles in my Herp Care Collection that apply to green iguanas, especially in the areas of behavior, health, conservation, and captivity-related and human health issues.

New Cage Design
We wanted a system that was affordable, mobile, light enough for the average person to be able to fit in their home or office, durable enough for commercial use, and attractive enough to be a museum quality display. Over the past five years we have worked tirelessly to design, modify, and redesign our new cage system. We've worked with over a dozen engineers, tested countless prototypes and materials, used computer generated strength analysis, and spent thousands of hours on our design to ensure it has the proper strength, durability, and functionality. See the " Cage Features " section for more details.

Naturalists initially thought damage had been avoided
Scientists say an oil spill off the Galapagos Islands last year has caused the death of more than 60% of marine iguanas - a species unique to the Pacific Ocean islands. The spill happened when an Ecuadorian oil tanker ran aground in January 2001 depositing around three million litres of crude oil into the sea.
We came back after a year and were astonished to find a large number of skeletons on the coast
Scientist Martin Wikelski Yet compared with other tanker accidents, the concentrations of oil found just offshore were fairly small, and the prevailing view at the time was that Santa Fe, one of the Galapagos Islands, had escaped serious contamination. But now researchers have concluded that even this small amount of pollution can have severe effects on wild animals.

Iguanas are certainly one of the most popular lizards to be kept as pets (probably the most popular). There are a multitude of online resources available to iguana owners or potential owners. The pages listed below cover the basics (and sometimes in-depth) considerations for iguana care, certainly far better than I could. There are a few points that I would like to cover before listing some of the better iguana pages on the Net. Iguanas are one of the more recent "fad" pets, becoming readily available in many pet stores, often at very low prices. These are young iguanas that don't seem to be too difficult to care for, a myth often perpetuated by retailers hoping to sell them. Of course, they are very cute too! But, as with all reptiles, iguanas have fairly strict feeding and housing requirements. And they grow, often very large (if they survive) and they can be difficult to tame and become aggressive. This is not to say that iguanas cannot make good pets - but they need the proper care right from the start, and owners need to have the right expectations. Melissa Kaplan, who authors what I would consider to be the best reptile site on the Net, has written an article entitled "
