Les 1 Les 2 Les 3 Les 4 ... Les 8
Welkom!

51. Intro To Server Side Includes
A beginner's guide and tutorial to basic SSI features and functions.
http://www.vortex-webdesign.com/help/intro_ssi.htm
Web Design Tutorials Introduction to using Server Side Includes Server Side Includes (SSI) can be very useful for sites that have content which is identical on a number of pages such as a header, a footer, or a table of links. SSI is particularly helpful when this content needs frequent updating site-wide, since the information can be changed on the entire site by editing one file. SSI also has a number of other uses but we'll get to that in a bit. Before we begin, you'll need to find out if your server supports SSI by performing a simple test.
Create a text document and type a line or two of text, something like "The quick sly fox jumped over the lazy brown dog". Save this file with the name ssi_test.txt. Create another text file and type (or copy and paste) the following:
<BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF" TEXT="#000000">
The line is an SSI Directive . It tells the server to read the text file and send whatever is contained within to the browser. Save this file as testing.shtml

Absolute Beginner's
HTML Tutorial
OK, let's start then.
Since you are reading this page, you presumably have a computer and a browser. Your browser will not work if you don't have an operating system so, you should also have a version of Windows or MacOS installed.
Well, that's it! You just have everything you need to build your first web page . Don't trust me?
Then, keep on reading ...
What a web page is all about?
Only text
Any web page is a sequence of simple text characters!
Yes, web pages contain nothing but text. There are no fancy fonts or pictures anyhow embedded in the web pages. When your browser is pointing to a specific location, it downloads the page found there and then executes it.
And here is the important point! The browser executes the page. Although the web page contains only text characters, a part of them are actually instructions to the browser on what to do and how to display the information.
As we said, these instructions are simple text characters and are called TAGS
Tags
The TAGS are special instructions to the browser. All tags are enclosed in "sharp" brackets like this: "

History of the C Language
C was created by Dennis Ritchie at the Bell Telephone Lab's in 1972, named because the language created before it was called B. It was created to design the UNIX operating system but because C is a powerful language it soon spread all over the world, but because of the spread everybody began to make their own their own versions of C. This was a problem because of the differences so the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) formed a standard definition of C which became known as ANSI standard C. Every compiler has to support the ANSI standard C language.
Why use C?

A Beginner's Guide to HTML
This is a primer for producing documents in HTML, the markup language used by the World Wide Web.
  • Acronym expansion - the World Wide Web alphabet soup
  • The minimal HTML document
    Introduction
    Acronym expansion
    WWW
    World Wide Web
    SGML
Standard Generalized Markup Language - This is perhaps best be thought of as a programming language for style sheets.
    DTD
Document Type Definition - This is a specific implementation of document description using SGML. One way to think about this is: Fortran is to a computer program as SGML is to a DTD.
    HTML
HyperText Markup Language - HTML is a SGML DTD. In practical terms, HTML is a collection of styles used to define the various components of a World Wide Web document.
    What this primer doesn't cover
This primer assumes that you have:
    • at least a passing knowledge of how to use NCSA Mosaic or other WWW browser
    • a general understanding of how World Wide Web servers and client browsers work and
    • access to a World Wide Web server for which you would now like to produce HTML documents
    Creating HTML documents
HTML documents are in plain text format and can be created using any text editor (e.g., Emacs or vi on Unix machines). A couple of WWW browsers (tkWWW for X Window System machines and CERN's WWW browser for the NeXT) do include rudimentary HTML editors in a WYSIWYG environment, and you may want to try one of them first before delving into the details of HTML.
