Vocabulary is much more important for understanding French than grammar is. If you understand the meanings of the words in a text, you can usually make pretty good sense of it without any grammatical knowledge.
However , when you get down to details, and want to be precise in your understanding, some grammatical knowledge is usually essential. You need to know how the verb system works, so as to understand when something happened, or if it didn't actually happen, but just might have. ESL Intensive
Learn English in a college-oriented progam for English-as-a-Second-Language students. This program provides a pathway to Brooklyn College, a fully accredited and internationally respected four-year college.
Learn and use English and develop fluency, accuracy, and confidence in your written and oral communication.
This course meets the requirements for full-time international students currently here on F-1 visas. We are authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students. Placement test: Monday, March 10, at 9 a.m. 36 sessions Mon. - Thurs., 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. March 17 to May 22 Tuition: $1035.00, plus non-refundable application fee for I-20 students.
Part-Time ESL
English as a Second Language (Evening Classes) 4.4 CEUs Beginner level covers vocabulary, listening, speaking and basic grammar. Intermediate level classes will improve reading and writing skills as well as offer continued grammar and conversation practice.
