Adverbs Prepositions Conjunctions Numerals Particles Sentencestructure General Pronunciation Grammar Index Links .

Sentence Structure
Adjectives Sub and main clauses Emphasis Commas ... Direct speech
In general one uses the same pattern as in English: Subject - Predicate - Object
But because of case, gender and number inflections in Polish you can handle this scheme quite flexible.
In questions and imperative sentences the word order is exactly the same as it would be in English. If the sentence contains a pronoun as a subject, it usually is omitted.
So you can say "Mam kotkê." instead of "Ja mam kotkê.". (meaning "I have a cat.") Adverbs and the negation particle nie usually precede the word or phrase.
Adjectives:
Adjectives stand before the noun if they refer to an incidental feature of the noun. In case they refer to an intrinsic feature they follow the noun. Possessives, demonstratives, etc. always precede the noun.
To jest niebieska ksi±¿ka. (This is a blue book.)
To jest ksi±¿ka niebieska . (This is the blue book.)
To jest moja nsi±¿ka. (This is my book.)
Sub and main clauses: If you have a main and one (or more) subordinate clauses, the main clause is usually the 1st. In some cases the opposite is possible, esp. when the sub-clause begins with je¶li, je¿eli

2. Editing Gramma: Sentence Structure, Agreement, And Reference
Editing grammar sentence structure, Agreement, and Reference. A CLAUSE must containboth a subject and a verb Plants grow. I grow plants. I give you plants.
http://www.webster.edu/acadaffairs/asp/wc/grammar.html
Editing Grammar: Sentence Structure, Agreement, and Reference A CLAUSE must contain both a subject and a verb: Plants grow. I grow plants. I give you plants. I make you happy. You are grateful. The only exceptions are commands, whose subjects are not states: Pay attention. One kind of SENTENCE FRAGMENT is not a clause because it contains no complete verb. Therefore, these examples are mistakes: Especially phrases with no verb whatsoever.
To use the infinitive form of the verb, too.
The reason being the incomplete form of the verb.
Some sentences written with this form, also.
A CLAUSE may be INDEPENDENT (main) or DEPENDENT (subordinate). Dependent clauses begin with relative pronouns or subordinating conjunctions. A dependent clause by itself is a SENTENCE FRAGMENT. Therefore, these examples are mistakes: Who worked on the project with me.
Which was a fabulous project.
Because we work so well together.
If I had done my fair share sooner.
After we finished at the last minute.
A COORDINATING CONJUNCTION leaves the clause it begins independent. The coordinating conjunctions are and, but, for, nor, or, so

Whether your material needs minor changes or complete rewriting, it will be treated with TLC at reasonable rates . Editz Pro is located in Edmonton AB Canada. Please e-mail Marcia Craig for more information. What is Editing?
There are many ways to express a thought or idea. Aside from spelling and grammar mistakes, all ways may be correct. Editing is more than the correction of technical errors. The goal of good writing is to manipulate language so that the reader can appreciate the full impact of the message intended by the author. The editor establishes by proofreading, or by questioning the author, exactly what it is the writer wants to say. The editor then cuts away extraneous material so that ideas are exposed. Finally, the text is fine-tuned to make the ideas not only clear, but appealing to read about. Writing Style
Each writer has a unique style. This style can add color to the presentation of the writer's ideas. Sometimes writers are afraid to let their personality show through their writing - afraid that a personal touch might make the material seem unsophisticated. At Editz Pro, the individual character of each piece of writing is respected and, whenever possible, maintained throughout the editing process.

The theory was based on similarities between Chinese and Thai, such as tones, monosyllabic words and short duration vowels. But recent Chinese research, and independent Vietnamese research, concludes that Thai language is separate from Chinese. The Chinese research was on the people along the Yang Tze River in South China who speak Tha A Vietnamese linguistic scholar, Nguyen Chi Thong, says there is evidence that language as far away as Papua New Guinea are connected to the Thai language. He also said that there are communities in central Vietnam who actually speak Thai rather than Vietnamese.

Last updated Friday, 09 October 1998. Kiribati Grammar Sketch Preliminary Notes There are two mid-twentieth-century grammatical sketches of Kiribati from missionary sources, from which these notes are derived with some additional input form a small written corpus. More recent materials and descriptions are as far as I know scarce. The orthography employed here is that found in the materials mentioned, although this is apparently lacking in various important respects. Vowel quantity is phonemic but not shown in the present spelling. Note that in the combinations -ti- and -tu- the t phoneme is palatalized, and the name Kiribati is usually pronounced 'Kiribas'. Both bw, mw and kw represent single consonant phonemes, as does ng It would be particularly useful to receive better information about this language, and if received I will consider producing a revised version of the following sketch, which is thus to be considered provisional. In proto-East Oceanic all syllables are CV(V) (where VV represents a diphthong or a long vowel), but some of the languages show a development towards CVC through vowel loss. Kiribati sound structure only allows nasal consonants syllable-finally, after which there seems to be phonotactically conditioned alternation between the absence or presence of a following vowel, always

    http://www.qc.edu/ENGLISH/Courses/Cyber/grammar.htm
    Grammar and Sentence Structure
Accurate grammar and sentence structure are essential to effective written communication. This idea has been largely axiomatic for most speakers and writers of English. However, lately other arguments have come to the fore which question the validity of having only one definition of what society calls "accurate" English. The various positions on this topic offer legitimate arguments which we will consider and discuss in class.
For the purposes of this course, we will be studying and perfecting grammar and structure skills in what we'll call "academic" English. This is the type of English most often associated with standard English and the type of English that most professors require in written assignments and exams. Certain aspects of academic English may seem alienating. The goal of our grammar and sentence structure study is to familiarize ourselves with this form of English so that we may communicate with optimum comfort and freedom.
In some ways, college is the space to intellectualize the mundane. In other words, in our college courses we theorize about every day actions and activities. For example, a biology course usually reveals and analyzes the mechanisms and processes that allow us to carry out daily bodily functions like breathing or digestion. Likewise, in this course we will be analyzing the mechanisms that enable us to engage in our daily activity of communicating in English. Regarding writing, with this technical understanding of grammar and structure theory we are in a better position to address our "bad habits" and to reinforce our "good habits."
