Gift Ideas for Fathers Day June 15th
Father's Day, while selecting a gift for a man particularly your father may seem almost impossible, Father's Day is really a very easy holiday to have success. At the risk of being too general, Dads seem to be happy with just about anything you give them. He may never use the gift, or remember the actual gift, but they seem to appreciate getting the gift. Gifts for a father are ritual, something regal to accept. These gifts are appreciated without showing exuberant emotion. This ultra cool manner of gift exceptance is not premeditated its just natural and not to be interpreted as he did not like your gift.

For pure exhilaration and drama, there’s nothing quite like sports: It’s the crack of the bat as it connects with the baseball, hurtling it into the bleachers for a home run; the swish of the basketball as it drops into the net for a three-point play at the buzzer; the roar of the crowd as the quarterback delivers a perfect spiral pass for the winning touchdown. Most importantly, sports bring out the best in the human spirit. There is an intensity and a richness inherent in every sporting experience that amplifies our emotions and our connection with the moment and, indeed, with ourselves. This latest collection of Chicken Soup honors all that is good in the world of sports. From major leaguers to little leaguers, from hockey stars to figure skaters, and from horseracing to mushing, the stories in this book highlight the positive and transformative nature of sports. You'll come to see sports as one of our most important and powerful teachers. They can teach us to focus and stay the course, or to develop a new strategy and rededicate ourselves to a goal. They can teach us to be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. They can teach us the importance of teamwork and remind us that we must strive to give our individual all. At their best, sports will build us up and they will wear us down; they will build character and teach us to overcome adversity.

This is my dad,
Phillip G. Cyr.
(June 14, 1961 - Present)
My Dad joined the Navy when I was only three. Since then I have lived the life of a military brat. I have grown up with my dad by my side through every thing! He has always been there for me, to teach me everything I know, right from wrong, how to tie my shoes, how to read and write. He has raised me to be the mature respectful young woman that I am today. Ever since I was little he spent his free time with me. We played blocks and he would read to me, we played pool and went to the park. We took naps together, went fishing, flew kites, and even shared birthdays. Throughout the years of my life we have done so much together. There are so many things that we have done that are not captured on camera that I will always remember and hold dear to me; like when we went sailing, and everything we did with the Youth Group, and all of the endless hours we spent on math homework. I'm going to be a math scholar some day dad! I just wanted you to know how much you are appreciated and how much I love you! You have been a great father to me, the best that any girl could ever ask for. Thank you Dad
I Love you daddy...

In every age, in every culture, in every country, there have been men, sometimes only a few men, who tried to improve the lives of women. Although, by today's standards, many of them would not be considered to be feminists, they were far ahead of their time and worked to improve the live's of the women around them. Other men were so far ahead of their time that their writings still resonate with their feminist ideals. Carolingan During the Carolingan Renaissance (about 800 A.D.), women were as well educated as men. Although men held all formal power, some wealthy women had considerable influence. For example, often, while the lord of the manor was away at court protecting the family interests, serving the king, or fighting in a war, his wife had complete charge of the manor. She would be expected to report to her husband when he returned, but often that was a mere formality. As was the case for men, poor women had little control over their ghastly lives Medieval In the middle ages, convents were centers of learning for women just as monasteries were centers of learning for men. For centuries, being a nun was the only vocation open to a woman other than being a wife and any woman who wanted an intellectual life was forced to enter religious orders. In lieu of a dowry paid to a bridegroom or an inheritance, a wealthy man might found a convent for his daughter, mother, sister, niece, or godchild to run, just as a wealthy man might set up a son or daughter in business today. Men even freed themselves of troublesome wives by founding convents for them. Again, wealth, rather than sex, could be more of determining factor in the amount of power a woman was given. Often men benefited from this arrangement. If a convent acquired an especially good reputation, the king or other high-placed nobleman might choose to send his daughters there to study, extending the abbess's and her family's influence.

Subject: Fathers Day I wrote this weekend, It really is a letter that I will give to my children on Fathers Day. It ripped my guts out to write it, if anyone can use it in a way to forward keeping dads and kids together please do. April 1997 FATHERS DAY, A LETTER TO MY CHILDREN I wanted to tell you, my most precious ones, what it has meant to me to have the privilege of you in my life and how sorry I am for how your life has been made so very much more difficult by choices and circumstances that were forced on you . This letter is my Fathers Day present to you We have been apart so long and know so very little of each other I fear that you have no use for me. I have not seen you in 2 years. We have grown, but not together. You no longer know me, that's not your fault. You have been taken from me and I could not follow. The time I have lived without you will always be my most terrible regret . My gift to you is a promise. I will always love you. I will always be your Dad. No matter what happens in our lives to tear us apart I will always have a place for you in my heart and my home. Each of you is more valuable to me than you can know. Having you so far from me is the saddest experience of my life. I believe I have survived it only because I cannot allow myself to let you down again. In a few short weeks you will be gone again, beginning another long part of our lives that will not include each other. Many more times of laughter and of struggle that I will not be able to share with you. As you go through these times know that I want to be a part of them with all my heart. When you hit a ball, win a contest, draw a picture, ride your bike, or take a nap, remember. At that very moment I am thinking of you, loving you and missing you. When you remember me in your prayers at night, know that I am praying for you too. And when you are angry that I am not there to help with your homework or teach you to do something, or to hug you because you are cold or afraid, remember that I am here, crying, because I miss you.

A Fathers Day Special Treat InterGOV Insider Latest news within InterGOV and around the World! Page B3 FROM THE DESK OF THE CHAPLIN As this is fathers day weekend I would like to look at some of the duties of a father. There are six areas that I would like to cover. They are to teach, to train, to provide for, to nurture, to control, and to love. 1) A father is to teach: in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 6 and verse 7 we are told to teach our children diligently. to me that means never stop teaching your children to be a good person. 2) A father is to train: in the book of proverbs chapter 22 and verse 6 we are told "train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it". I think that says it all. 3) A father is to provide for his family: the book of 2 Corinthians chapter 12 verse 14b "for the children ought not to lay up for the parents but the parents for the children". I hear parents say all the time "my child is going to become rich and support me" that is not right the parent should help the

11. Fathers Day
fathers day. Its real easy to get children all riled up. Thats it. fathers, teach your children to love God.
http://www.laverniaumc.org/html/fathers_day.html
Fathers Day It’s real easy to get children all riled up. When they come to you asking for help and all you’re doing is playing around, they get exasperated with you real quick. This particular scripture has meant a lot to me. But not in the negative sense, more so in the positive sense because this has a whole lot more to do with the positive things of what a father should do than what the negative things are. It tells us to do two things: give our children discipline and instruct them. They are both positive commands. So today, guys, I want to especially give this message for you. Now it doesn’t matter if you have any children at home. You may have grown children. It still applies to you because you will never cease being a father. Your life will continue to be a testimony to your children long after they’ve left home. For those of you that are thinking about starting families or hoping to start families this is a good word for you to begin your fatherhood. I’m glad that I was able to study these scriptures right as my children were being born because they gave me a lot of wisdom, Godly wisdom. It also says, though, to instruct your children. What do you instruct them about? Well, it’s very easy. It’s just one thing. If you can teach your children this one thing, then you’ve got it made. Teach your children to love God. That’s it. Fathers, teach your children to love God.

Shining Salutations!! It's the summertime wedding season! Many of our members are attending weddings over the next few months, and we have had many requests for useful reception dances. So join us this Sunday as we learn the Foxtrot, one of the most versatile dances at such events. This dance is easy to pick up, and we will learn some progressive movements in order to have some fun around the floor. Chemo Rodriguez will be our instructor, and he will also let us in on the secret to dancing slow dances on a crowded dance floor...an adaptation of the Foxtrot called the Foxy, which uses that stunning Latin motion we've been practicing this semester! So curb those wedding bell blues, and learn how to impress your friends on the dance floor! HAPPY FATHERS DAY! Don't forget that this Sunday is also Fathers Day!! Rustle up your old man, put some shiny shoes on his feet, and bring him along to the MSUBDC!! Can't think of a suitable Dads Day gift...teach him to dance at our club on Sunday! Cheers to all you Dads out there!!! USABDA SUCCESS! Last Saturday we took several carloads of MSUBDC dancers to the monthly USABDA meet in Corunna, and we had a fantastic time! We learned some sweet Hustle moves, including a swell grapevine, from John McAllister, and cheered on Chemo's Latin dance formation team as well. The USABDA dancers are a nice crowd, and many of their more experienced members taught our beginners some great moves, and gave helpful dance tips. I started going to these monthly dances before I knew many steps other than swing, and they are great confidence builders! The next USABDA dance will be held in September, as they are taking a break for the next two months of summer. INTERNATIONAL CLASS The International Class with Lara and Viorel continues through the summer! If you didn't check it out last semester, now is the time to get in on these fantastic lessons!! We will continue to meet at 1pm in the IM Circle, right before ballroom club. Meet in the upstairs gym, across from room 218. Come on out and get even more dancing in on Sundays! SMOOTH MOVE MONDAYS Don't forget Monday Nights at the Dollar Nightclub in East Lansing (3411 E. Michigan Ave. 351-2450) with the MSUBDC and the State Swing Society! Open dancing every Monday from 7pm until 10:30pm, with a mix of Swing, Latin, Hustle, and other ballroom favorites! We are running the Smooth Move Exchange every Monday at 7:30pm, which will feature a different person or couple showcasing a swell dance move which they will teach! Open to everyone 18 and up, bring your ID to get in, cover $3. All Summer Long!!...but we need numbers to keep the night, so help keep Mondays alive and come dance with us! Capt. Dexter Simmons of www.keywestflyfishing.com and Fly Fishing Paradise invites Fathers and Sons, Mothers and Daughters to join him on FlatsMaster for a fishing adventure. Capt. Simmons hopes to lure vacation anglers to Key West to have fun family fishing while sharpening their fly fishing and flats fishing skills for Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit.
Capt. Dexter's guides John Cusack, Sr., with his son in law to a Permit double!
Two, Three and Five-day ''fishing trip packages'' are available. The packages include lodging and charter flats fishing and instruction by expert, certified guides led by Capt. Dexter Simmons. Fathers and sons will sight cast to fish on the Key West flats while learning new flats fishing techniques from the expert guides. "This program is unlike other fly fishing schools in the Florida Keys that teach on land. We teach on the water while we are fishing, so the Dads and their Sons have a chance to catch fish while they are learning!'', Capt. Simmons explained.

the official teaching today, except pastors like Leo Schreven, teach it with Romehad to change the law, and the day of worship .. Faith of Our fathers, p. 14
http://www.bible.ca/7-mark-beast.htm
Officially, Seventh-day Adventist’s teach that Sunday worshippers ARE THE Mark Of The Beast. Recent converts are either unaware, or unwilling to accept the official historic position of their church. Although their first reaction is, "My church doesn’t teach that!" read the proof for yourself! It is still the official teaching today, except pastors like Leo Schreven, teach it with flowery speech! Proof the official doctrine of the Seventh-day Adventist churches is that the Mark of the beast is those who worship on Sunday.
  • "Sunday-keeping must be the mark of the beast." ... "The reception of his mark must be something that involves the greatest offense that can be committed against God." (The Marvel of Nations, Elder U. Smith pages 170, 183) "Here we find the mark of the beast. The very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, on the part of the Catholic church, without any authority from the Bible." (Ellen G. White, The Mark of the Beast, page 23) "The Sunday Sabbath is purely a child of the Papacy. It is the mark of the beast." (Advent Review, Vol. I, No. 2, August, 1850.) "The change of the Sabbath is the sign or mark of the authority of the Romish church." ... "The keeping of the counterfeit Sabbath is the reception of the mark." (Ellen G. White, Great Controversy, Vol. 4, page 281.

    http://www.bible.ca/7-history-sabbath.htm
    The Record of History
History proves Christians always met on 1st Day and not the Sabbath, right back to the apostolic age. (33 AD) Irrefutable proof:
Proof early Christians worshipped on the first day AND NEVER keep the Sabbath! Seventh-day Adventists misrepresent history when they say the earliest Christians kept the Sabbath, when in fact they NEVER kept it. Seventh-day Adventists have changed their mind 3 times as to the origin of the universal practice of Christians worshipping on the Sunday (first day). Although all three guesses are wrong, but each time they come closer to the truth: 33 AD by the Apostles! Three wrong guesses, you’re out! The so called "inspired prophet" Ellen White originally claimed the Pope started "Sunday worship" White later changed her mind and said the Emperor Constantine introduced "Sunday worship" in 325 AD. Today, Adventists blame the interaction of Sunday worship on Christians in 135 AD and not the Pope or Constantine! Guess #1 : the Pope introduced Sunday worship. The Roman Catholic Pope DID NOT change the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday as Sabbath keepers falsely teach. Yes Catholics do claim they changed the Sabbath, but they also claim that Peter was the first pope! Sabbath Keepers reject the Catholic claim that Peter was the first pope, so they are in grave error for accepting the Catholic claim that the pope changed the Sabbath to Sunday!
